Fukuoka is a fantastic destination for a quick getaway or weekend trip,
perfect for a light Japan adventure.
To match that vibe, I'm here to introduce an accommodation that's perfect for quickly experiencing Fukuoka's best,
boasting a fantastic location and great value.
COCO Hotel generously provided a 1-night complimentary stay valid at any of their branches in exchange for an Instagram review,
and because the Fukuoka branch's location looked so promising,
I decided to stay an extra night out of my own pocket!
The verdict? Pure satisfaction!
When I choose accommodation for international travel,
my top priorities are always location and price.
This place not only met those criteria,
but the room was also surprisingly spacious for the price.
I'll share all the juicy details right now.
⬇⬇⬇
Hotel Introduction: COCO Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin

COCO Hotel is a business hotel chain with over 20 branches across Japan.
You can find them in other popular tourist destinations like Tokyo and Osaka too.
The Tenjin branch, in particular, has a high proportion of international guests,
with apparently half of them being Korean travelers.
While I've stayed at other COCO Hotel branches before,
I didn't have high expectations, mostly due to the typical compact size of budget-friendly hotels.
However, the Fukuoka branch was surprisingly more spacious than others, which made my satisfaction soar!

📍 Location
1 Chome-22-14 Imaizumi,
Chuo Ward, Fukuoka, 810-0021 Japan
This hotel is located just a 10-minute walk from Tenjin, Fukuoka's largest entertainment district, bustling with amazing restaurants and shopping streets. Its location was truly fantastic!

📍 Highly Accessible Location
With two subway stations just a 5-10 minute walk away,
and a nearby express bus terminal, getting around is super convenient.
Best of all, you'll find Don Quijote, fantastic shopping, and delicious eateries
all within a 10-minute walk! That's unbeatable!
Transportation | Tenjin Station: 9-min walk Tenjin-Minami Station: 4-min walk Express Bus Terminal: 3-min walk Airport: 22 min by taxi / 40 min by public transport |
Shopping | Don Quijote: 2-min walk Kaldi: 4-min walk Daimyo Street: 5-10 min walk (Stüssy, Supreme) Department stores & large shopping malls: within 10-min walk |
What's more, Tenjin is conveniently close to other popular city attractions like Canal City Hakata,
Momochi Seaside Park, Fukuoka Tower, and Nakasu.
👉🏻 If you're looking to dive into shopping and city-center exploration on a fast-paced trip,
I highly recommend staying in Tenjin!
(Though I did stay in Nakasu on my very first night, too!)

Even for a business-class hotel, the room types were incredibly diverse,
ranging from standard rooms all the way to jacuzzi rooms!
(I asked out of curiosity and was told that the previous owner
tried out many different concepts at the Tenjin branch,
which is why the rooms are so diverse and spacious!)
📌 Standard Room Types
When you think of budget-friendly hotels in Japan, you probably imagine rooms around 12-13㎡,
where it's hard to even open a suitcase, with just a toilet and a bed taking up all the space, right?
Well, this hotel's rooms are quite a bit larger than other hotels in the same price range!
Room Type | Size |
Standard Double Room | 15㎡ |
Superior Double Room | 18㎡ |
Queen Room | 20㎡ |
Standard Twin Room | 20㎡ |
Hollywood Twin Room (Two twin beds joined together) | 29㎡ |

Additionally, there are also rooms that can only be booked via phone & email.
The price is on the higher side, but I highly recommend them for those looking for a special experience!
📌Terrace King Room and Jacuzzi King Room
- 31㎡ (approximately 334 sq ft), average price around ¥30,000 on weekdays, and around ¥50,000 on weekends & holidays~
I originally planned to stay in a Jacuzzi room, but
due to the rain, I switched to a Hollywood Twin Room.🥹
📍 Price Information
The most important part: accommodation prices!
This is a value-for-money hotel, available from the low ~$70s~
May Weekday Price Search - TOP3 Lowest Prices *Prices checked on March 28th / Based on 2 people*
Agoda | ~$63~(Standard) ~$70~(Superior)
Trip.com | ~$79~(Standard) ~$91~(Superior)
Booking.com | ~$81~(Standard) ~$91~(Superior) |
* Hotel prices may vary depending on the stay date, booking date, and special offers,
so check all platforms via the links above and try to find the lowest price *

On Agoda,
for special offers, prices start from the ~$60s, lower than ~$70,
and typically from the low ~$70s.
you can book a room.
Hotel rooms tend to sell out quickly these days, so
I recommend booking in advance.

For reference, I booked and stayed in a Superior Double Room
for 1 night, in the low ~$70s.
While Trip.com wasn't the lowest price at the time of my booking,
I used it because I had a lot of travel points.

📌 Check-in from 3 PM / Check-out by 11 AM
I checked in at the reception.
As many Koreans visit, there was also a Korean staff member.
By the way, Fukuoka is a municipality that charges an accommodation tax,
so upon check-in, you pay number of nights * number of people * ¥200.
For my 1-night stay with 2 people, I paid ¥400.
Luggage storage is also available.

You can pick up amenities here!
Please note that you MUST bring your own slippers!
Japanese hotels still don't have a disposable item policy,
so it's really great that they provide toothbrushes and toothpaste!!!
I stayed in both a Superior Double Room and
a Hollywood Twin Room,
so I'll introduce both rooms.
Superior Double Room Review
~$69~

📌 Inside the Room
It was wider than I expected for the price.
the room was spacious for the price.
As someone who has traveled to Japan 'N' times,
I've stayed in many value-for-money hotels in a similar price range,
and I expected no sofa, just a bed, and a small bathroom!
But the size exceeded my expectations.

The ambiance inside the room
rather than feeling bright,
had darker lighting.
If you prefer a bright atmosphere, it might not be suitable for you.
Just a heads-up, the window was bigger than I expected, so it was bright during the day!

Inside the Superior Double room,
there was also a sofa and a table.
I had seen some reviews saying the hotel's cleanliness wasn't great,
but it was perfectly fine when I visited!-!
Just like any other hotel of a similar class.~

The bathroom, just like in other Japanese hotels,
also had a bathtub.
I think there were also bath bombs available on the first floor,
so it might be nice to use them!
(I brought my own, actually,
bought some from Daiso and used those!)

Fukuoka's new photo spot,
the small steel tower behind the Apple Store, was visible,
but it was under construction 🥹🥺
Hollywood Twin Room Review
~$83-90~

The Hollywood Twin room is
uniquely a room where you take off your shoes.
Perhaps it's because I'm Korean to the bone,
but I really liked the fact that it was a shoes-off room!
The ambiance inside the room
is similar to the Superior room I mentioned earlier.

Being 29㎡, the room was incredibly spacious.
It's about 1.5 to 2 times larger than other room types,
so it felt huge and was really comfortable to stay in.
Usually, I just use hotels to get ready and sleep,
but on this day, after lunch, I was so sleepy I came back for a little rest!!
(It's a great location for going back and forth to the hotel since there's so much around!
If it had been far, I wouldn't have been able to make it back....)

The Hollywood Twin room also has a separate door for the bathing area,
and I loved that the toilet, sink, and bathing areas were all separated.
(It just felt so much cleaner to use!!)
A key highlight of this room, in particular, is its wide and large bathtub!
It's perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring~
Personally, this was my favorite room type!
👉🏻 It's super spacious for the price, and the bathtub is huge!
(I guess it's worth the slightly higher price compared to other rooms..?)
Coco Hotel Tenjin Overall Review
✅ If you love exploring Fukuoka city center,
the location here is unbeatable
✅ Great value hotel (starting around ~$69~)
✅ Spacious accommodation for the price
👉🏻 Overall Score ⭐ 4.5/5
➰ Coco Hotel Tenjin,
is recommended for travelers who:
" prioritize location above all else, but also
value a good price "
➰ Room Type Recommendations
- Top priority is value for money! Nothing else matters
👉🏻 Standard Double Room
- Don't want anything too cramped but still want value
👉🏻 Superior Double Room
- Want a spacious room at a reasonable price
👉🏻 Hollywood Twin Room
🚨 Please note if you:
- If you're hoping for a 'hocance' experience, this isn't the spot!
As a business hotel, it doesn't have extensive extra facilities.
- For those who prioritize pristine conditions, this might be a point to note.
(Just so you know, I personally had no cleanliness concerns during my stay!)
