SUMIYOSHI APARTMENT Hotel Fukuoka Review 2026: Budget Stays
Looking for an affordable, authentic stay in Fukuoka? SUMIYOSHI APARTMENT Hotel offers spacious rooms with kitchenettes, perfect for experiencing local life on a budget. Read our 2026 review!

I recently went on a trip to Fukuoka,
and I stayed at a particular accommodation for 4 nights and 5 days.
For this trip, I really didn't want to spend too much
on accommodation costs,
so I compared a lot of different places.
Many typical business hotels, despite their small room sizes,
were over ~$74 per night.
And that's when I found this amazing place!
It's none other than SUMIYOSHI APARTMENT HOTEL :)
Personally, I was incredibly satisfied with this accommodation!!
If I ever visit Fukuoka again,
I'd love to stay here again, haha.

1. SUMIYOSHI APARTMENT Hotel Location
SUMIYOSHI APARTMENT Hotel
isn't an accommodation directly in front of Hakata Station.
It's about a 15-20 minute walk from Hakata Station.
At first, I thought, 'It's a bit far from the station, isn't it?'
But after staying there for 4 nights and 5 days,
I actually felt that this aspect was a plus,
connecting to its great value for money :)
Compared to accommodations directly in front of Hakata Station,
it lowered the burden of accommodation costs,
while still allowing us to walk to Hakata Station
whenever needed!
We tend to walk a lot when traveling,
so 15-20 minutes was definitely a walkable distance for us,
and since the weather was perfect for autumn,
it was actually wonderful to take in Fukuoka's scenery
as we walked around :)

It's a bit different from a typical business hotel,
feeling more like an Airbnb.
After booking the accommodation, the day before check-in, you'll receive an email
with your assigned room number, check-in instructions,
and the passcode.

You simply follow the instructions provided beforehand to check in,
and there are also check-in instructions displayed at the entrance of the building,
so even without direct interaction with staff,
checking in was incredibly easy :)

2. Great Value for Money: Around ~$185 for 4 Nights
The room I stayed in this time was a small double room.
I booked 4 nights all at once,
and the total cost was around ~$185,
which was incredibly affordable
compared to other accommodations in Fukuoka. 👍🏻
While searching for accommodations in Fukuoka
and comparing places in a similar price range,
many typical business hotels had quite small rooms
but were still over ~$74 per night, which caused a lot of deliberation.
Instead of the condition of having to walk a bit from Hakata Station,
we were able to enjoy a relatively spacious area for a more affordable price,
and that aspect was quite satisfying for us :)
Accommodation prices vary depending on your travel dates,
so if your travel itinerary is set,
it's a good idea to book in advance :)

A Slightly Different Vibe from a Standard Hotel
If you book expecting a typical hotel experience right from the start,
it might feel a little different.
This place is more like an Airbnb, where you're renting a local living space,
so you won't encounter staff and it's all about self check-in and check-out.
Because of that, it actually feels like you're briefly staying in a home where a Japanese local
actually lives, and we really loved that kind of atmosphere!

Small but Convenient: A Kitchen Made All the Difference
One of the things I loved most about this accommodation
was the small kitchen available.
It was perfect for preparing simple meals or snacks
and enjoying them right in our room!
When you travel in Japan, you'll surely visit a supermarket,
and you know there are plenty of delicious foods you can buy there
without needing to eat out, right?!
Especially for us, whenever we go to Japan,
the meat at Japanese supermarkets is not only high-quality
but also incredibly affordable. So, we really wanted to cook a simple meal
at an accommodation with a kitchen.

So, we did some simple grocery shopping at the supermarket,
bought some easy-to-prepare food,
and comfortably enjoyed it back at our apartment :)

Especially for longer trips,
eating out for every single meal
can quietly add up in cost and honestly, get a bit tiresome.
Being able to eat comfortably at our accommodation like this,
that small kitchen turned out to be much more useful than we expected!

Room, Bathroom, and Toilet are Separated!
Another aspect that was more satisfying than expected
was the clever separation of spaces.
Since the spaces were divided,
we could really make the most of the accommodation!

With the main room, bathroom, and toilet all separated,
it didn't feel cramped at all when we actually used it,
and during our 4-night stay, we loved being able to use the space
with a little more room to breathe :)
Plus, there was a small balcony,
which made it super easy to open the door and let in some fresh air!

With a Washing Machine, It's Perfect for Longer Stays!
And speaking of amenities, there were surprisingly
quite a few extra towels provided!
Also, since there's a washing machine in the room,
it seems like a great option for those staying longer than a few days.
And even though it's an Airbnb-style accommodation,
they still provided toothbrush and toothpaste amenities,
which was another pleasant surprise! Haha.
Those unexpected touches and conveniences
just made the stay even better~

Wrapping Up
During my 4-night, 5-day trip to Fukuoka, I stayed at
It offered more spacious rooms than a typical business hotel,
complete with a kitchen, washing machine, and separate bathroom and toilet,
making my 4-night stay incredibly comfortable :)
What I loved most was the feeling of briefly living like a local
in a Japanese residential space!
With a supermarket and convenience stores right nearby,
plus plenty of delicious local eateries down the alleyways, I made the most of my time there ^^
If you prioritize amenities like spacious rooms and great value,
an apartment-style accommodation like this is definitely worth recommending :)

Especially since accommodation prices tend to rise and rooms sell out quickly as your travel date approaches,
if your travel itinerary is set, be sure to check room prices and make your reservation in advance ⭐
