For this Fukuoka trip,
I stayed at the Quintessa Hotel Fukuoka Watanabe-dori Comic&Books
for my entire 3-night, 4-day stay.
When choosing a hotel in Japan,
the most important thing for me is room size!
After staying there myself, there were things I loved,
and also a few things I wished were different.
I'll share my honest review of my 3-night, 4-day experience!
Super spacious, and around ~$74 a night!

🏨 Good Things to Know When Checking In

It's about a ✅5-minute walk from Watanabedori Station,
so it wasn't hard to find from the station.
Also, this hotel doesn't use card keys;
they use ✅physical keys.
Don't forget it when you go out,
make sure to keep it safe in your bag!
✅Amenities are available on the side of the 1st-floor lobby.
You'll find toothbrushes, razors, towels, facial cleansers, and more,
so I recommend grabbing whatever you need
when you check in.
Especially since there are also things you'll need for the grand public bath on the 7th floor,
it's convenient to grab everything at once!

🛏️ The 20㎡ Japanese-Style Room is More Spacious Than You Think!!
The room I stayed in was
the approx. 20㎡ Japanese-Style Room.

With its tatami flooring, it really gave off those perfect Japanese travel vibes,
and best of all, the room was so spacious and comfortable.
Even with two suitcases laid open on the floor,
there was still plenty of room to walk around comfortably!

For a hotel in Japan, this amount of space
was definitely on the generous side.
And at the time of booking, it was around ~$74 per night,
which felt very satisfying considering the room size.

Because it offers such great value, rooms tend to sell out quickly,
so make sure to check prices and room availability early!

Plus, the windows could be opened manually,
allowing for easy and free ventilation!

Though the windows were a bit thin and we could hear some outside noise,
it wasn't enough to disturb our sleep.
🔌 Super convenient: outlets right by the bed!
Our room featured two single beds,
each with its own outlet right by the headboard.

Perfect for charging phones or power banks,
and being able to charge right from the comfort of your bed
was incredibly convenient.
🚿 Separate toilet and shower — a traveler's dream!

The separated toilet and shower layout
was definitely a huge plus when traveling as two.
One person could handle their business while the other showered, lol!

However, the sink was quite small,
making it a little inconvenient for washing up or brushing teeth.
I felt like a slight renovation here
would make it much more comfortable, haha!

However, on the 7th floor, there's a fantastic public bath (daiyokujo),
which we took advantage of almost every day during our trip!
It features a wonderfully warm main bath, a charming individual open-air bath (?),
and even a dry sauna!
Spacious and wonderfully clean,
it was the perfect spot to unwind and soothe our travel fatigue.
📚 First floor brimming with Japanese manga!

The hotel's first floor is absolutely packed with manga.
While they were all in Japanese,
so we couldn't read them, haha,
it felt like stepping into a manga café after a long time,
and it was quite fun just browsing!
🍡The Free Lounge: Perfect for enjoying your takeout!

The Free Lounge is incredibly well-equipped with washing machines, an ice maker, a microwave,
vending machines, power outlets, and even Wi-Fi, making it a fantastic hub for travelers!

It seemed perfect for relaxing before or after check-in,
or even for getting some work done on your laptop if you're here on a business trip!

🚃 A Little Further from Hakata & Tenjin
While it's not right in front of Hakata or Tenjin Station,
I actually loved that it felt more like a local neighborhood,
where residents live their daily lives.
With ramen and yakitori restaurants nearby,
it was the perfect spot for someone like me who loves a true local atmosphere!
Getting to Hakata and Tenjin is super convenient
using the Charichari bike sharing app or
Uber!
🛒 Sunny Supermarket is Close, Making Grocery Shopping a Breeze

Although we didn't get to use it ourselves ㅠㅠ,
near the hotel, there's a 24-hour mega supermarket that rivals Lofia,
called Sunny Watanabe-dori.
Beyond just bento boxes, snacks, and beer,
it seemed like a fantastic place for grocery shopping, stocking up on daily necessities that locals frequently use.
And with Lawson, Seven-Eleven, and FamilyMart also nearby,
convenience store runs were super easy!
💛 My 3-Night, 4-Day Stay: A Personal Review
During my 3-night, 4-day stay, what I was most satisfied with was definitely
the spacious ~20㎡ room!
There was plenty of room to open two suitcases,
and the tatami room really immersed us in the authentic Japanese travel experience!

Checking their website, it seems the twin and deluxe rooms are also
spacious at 20㎡!
The bedside outlets and the large public bath available until midnight were convenient,
and having a supermarket and convenience stores nearby was also a big plus.
Although the sink was a bit small, and it was a little further from Hakata and Tenjin,
if you're like me and prioritize a spacious room and a local vibe,
then this Fukuoka accommodation comes highly recommended!
