Location & Accessibility

Ohori Park is conveniently located and easily accessible from both Tenjin Station and Hakata Station via the subway's Airport Line. It's just a quick ride away!
However, keep in mind that the park is quite expansive. If you're heading to the Starbucks cafe or one of the popular photo spots, plan for about a 10-minute walk once you're inside the park.
Scenic Walking Paths

At the heart of Ohori Park lies a large, picturesque lake, encircled by a beautiful walking path stretching approximately 1.2 miles. It's the perfect spot for a refreshing stroll or an invigorating jog.
You'll find plenty of benches scattered along the path, ideal for taking a break and enjoying the view. The pathways are remarkably clean, a testament to Japanese pride in their public spaces.
It's a popular spot for locals too, with many enjoying a walk or a bike ride, adding to the vibrant yet peaceful atmosphere.

Within the park grounds, you'll also find the Fukuoka Art Museum, the serene Japanese Garden, and a Nohgaku Theater. If you have extra time or a particular interest, these are wonderful additions to your visit.

Despite being right in the middle of the city, the park is surprisingly quiet, allowing for an incredibly peaceful experience.
One quick tip: there isn't much shade along the paths, so on a hot day, it can get quite warm. Consider visiting during cooler parts of the day or bringing sun protection.

The lake is adorned with picturesque bridges named Kanetsukibashi, Shogetsukyo, and Ogetsubashi, leading to a charming pavilion in the center. The vibrant teal and red hues of the bridges are stunning, making them fantastic photo opportunities both day and night.
Paddle Boats on the Lake

For a fun and unique perspective of the park, you can rent paddle boats on the lake! They operate from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last rental at 5:30 PM.
A small boat costs 1,200 JPY for 30 minutes, while a larger boat is 1,800 JPY for 30 minutes.
Starbucks Cafe with a View

Ohori Park boasts a popular Starbucks cafe, renowned for its incredible lake views from the window seats. It’s definitely a favorite!

There are also outdoor tables where you can enjoy the lake views completely unobstructed. When I visited, it was still quite warm, so there were plenty of outdoor seats available.

The cafe interior is surprisingly spacious, but even visiting around 10:00 AM, quite early in the day, many of the best seats were already taken.

Specifically, the highly sought-after tables facing the lake only had one or two spots left. So, if you're keen on securing a prime view, arriving early is key!

Inside the store, you'll also find limited-edition merchandise available only at Fukuoka Starbucks locations – perfect for a unique souvenir!
The Serene Japanese Garden

Continue walking south through the park, and you'll arrive at the exquisite Japanese Garden. Honestly, this was one of the most beautiful places I visited in Fukuoka, right up there with Momochi Seaside Park!
The garden beautifully captures the essence of traditional Japanese aesthetics and atmosphere. It’s truly a must-visit to experience that unique cultural charm. For a more in-depth look at the Japanese Garden, check out my detailed review below:

If your travel style involves leisurely walks, soaking in serene environments, and capturing beautiful moments through your lens, then I wholeheartedly recommend adding Fukuoka's Ohori Park to your itinerary!
