One of the places I was most excited about for my Fukuoka trip was...
the stunning Seaside Momochi Beach!
Momochi Beach is conveniently located just 20 minutes from downtown Fukuoka.
It's an artificial beach boasting a long stretch of white sand and
a truly charming travel destination with a distinct European flair.

Getting There
While you can take the subway, getting to Momochi Beach by bus is actually much more convenient and quicker!
From Tenjin Station
At Tenjin Station Bus Terminal, catch bus No. 302 or W1.
Alight at the Fukuoka Tower Minamiguchi bus stop.
Travel time: Approximately 20 minutes.
From Hakata Station
Take bus No. 302, 305, 306, 312, or 6-1.
Alight at the Fukuoka Tower Minamiguchi bus stop.
Travel time: Approximately 30 minutes.
Heads up! Fukuoka city buses don't accept credit cards.
You'll need to use cash or a local transportation card.
I paid 260 yen in cash for my ride,
but if you're planning to move around by bus often during your trip,
a transportation pass offering unlimited rides for one day
might be a more efficient option.

Just a heads-up, taxi fares can be quite expensive!
I was pretty exhausted on my last day, so I ended up taking a taxi back to Tenjin downtown,
and the fare was a whopping 2,410 yen! Yikes! (worth it for the comfort, though!)
After you alight at the Minamiguchi bus stop, it's just a 3-5 minute walk.
You'll spot a large staircase, just like the one in the photo. Head up there,
and Momochi Beach will immediately come into view!
Exploring Momochi Beach
The presence of the Marizon wedding hall truly enhances the European vibe.
Being a popular wedding venue, you might even catch a glimpse of Japanese couples
having their wedding photoshoots here!
Momochi Beach boasts a wide, expansive stretch of white sand,
and it's so well-maintained that it's popular not just with tourists,
but also with plenty of locals who come here for a leisurely stroll.
I saw many families enjoying themselves, with kids happily playing in the water.
The lights shining from the wedding hall and the calm sea
blend together so perfectly.
Sunset Magic
I visited in early September, timing it perfectly for sunset,
around 6:40 PM,
and it was so incredibly beautiful that I found myself staring in awe for ages.
Just so you know, this photo was taken around 7:00 PM!
Isn't the atmosphere simply magical?
When you visit Momochi Seaside Park, make sure it's at sunset rather than during the bright daytime! 💕
I even captured the entire breathtaking scene on video!
Cafes & Snacks
Near the entrance, you'll find an Italian restaurant called Mamma Mia,
and a little further in, there's a restaurant and cafe called The Beach.
Based on reviews and food quality, The Beach seems to be far superior,
so if you're planning a visit, I highly recommend heading to The Beach!
Beyond the cafes, you'll also find food trucks and ice cream stands,
perfect for a quick and tasty bite.
Fukuoka Tower
Directly opposite, you'll spot Fukuoka Tower,
Japan's tallest seaside tower, renowned for its spectacular night views.
From the observation deck, you can take in panoramic views not only of Momochi Seaside Park
but also the entire city of Fukuoka.
It's actually more affordable to book your tickets online
than to purchase them on-site, so if you're planning to visit, make sure to reserve them in advance!

While it's a bit further from the city center,
this was personally my absolute favorite part of my Fukuoka trip!
Experience a European-style beach right in Japan, complete with a breathtaking sunset!
