Fukuoka’s Momochi Beach is an artificial beach perfectly oriented to the west, offering prime conditions for witnessing Hakata Bay ablaze with a spectacular, fiery sunset.
The silhouette of Fukuoka Tower, majestically rising behind the beach, creates an absolutely unique and iconic scene against the glowing sky.
During the golden hour just before sunset, the sky bursts into a magnificent palette of pinks and reds.
And once the sun dips below the horizon, Fukuoka Tower and the surrounding buildings illuminate, naturally transitioning into a romantic night view.
I started my perfect sunset adventure by exploring Ohori Park before hopping on a bus to Momochi Beach.
From Ohori Park, the bus ride takes about 30 minutes.
You can catch buses #10, #15, #54-1, or #20 and get off at the Fukuoka Tower stop (the final stop), which drops you right at the beach – incredibly convenient!

I highly recommend arriving at least 30 minutes, or even a full hour, before the official sunset time to truly soak it all in.

On my trip, I was so hungry that I went straight to dinner. Looking back, I definitely wish I'd made time for the tower – it would have completed the experience perfectly.
