If you're on the hunt for a hotel in Fukuoka,
you'll find the Mitsui Garden Hotel consistently pops up as a fantastic option.
With rave reviews praising its spacious public bath and delicious breakfast,
it's no surprise many families choose it as their go-to accommodation.
I recently embarked on a family trip to Fukuoka with my two children,
and after much research, I booked our stay at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu!
I'll cover everything you need to know: the hotel's prime location, the room layout, our experience in the spacious public bath with kids,
and even the breakfast prices!
Plus, I'll share my secret for (booking at the absolute best price).
1. Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu Location

The Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu boasts a fantastic location,
right by Nakasukawabata Station on the Subway Airport Line.
The best part? You can get there directly from Fukuoka Airport via subway,
with no transfers needed – talk about convenience!
📌 How to Get to Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu
From Fukuoka Airport Station, hop on the Subway Airport Line.
Alight at Nakasukawabata Station and take Exit 2.
The hotel is just about a 2-minute stroll from the exit,
meaning you'll be checking in within 5 minutes of leaving the station!

The area around the hotel is incredibly walkable, with so many must-see spots just a short distance away!
Don Quijote is less than a 5-minute walk,
and the famous Ichiran Ramen main branch is practically next door –
perfect for a relaxing evening stroll.
📌 Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu Location
· Don Quijote: Less than a 5-minute walk
· Ichiran Ramen Main Branch: Right nearby
· Convenience Stores (7-Eleven, FamilyMart): 2-minute walk
· Tenjin Underground Shopping Mall, Canal City Hakata: Approximately a 10-minute walk
Tenjin is only about a 10-minute walk away,
so if you're up for it, you'll significantly cut down on subway rides – which is a huge plus!
(I personally walked to Tenjin every single time).
Given that public transportation in Japan can be quite pricey,
having a family of four meant we saved
a considerable amount on travel expenses by choosing to walk!
Plus, with a fantastic cluster of restaurants right around the corner,
we never had to venture far to find delicious dining options.
2. Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu: Our Room for Three

📌 Mitsui Garden Hotel Fukuoka Nakasu At a Glance
Check-in: 3:00 PM, Check-out: 11:00 AM
Upon check-in,
please be aware that the hotel requires scanning the passports of all guests.
This includes children,
so having everyone's passports ready beforehand will make the process much smoother!
The accommodation tax is also paid at check-in.
Good news for cardholders – card payments are accepted, so I opted to pay with my credit card.

I originally made the reservation for 2 adults and 2 infants,
but there seemed to be a mix-up, as it was booked for 3 adults... intriguing, right?
So when we entered the room,
it was perfectly set up for three adults!
While the standard room usually features two single beds,
ours came with the sofa bed already unfolded,
creating a spacious setup perfect for three adults to sleep comfortably.
We even had three sets of pajamas and three pairs of slippers waiting for us!

Since we were two adults and two children,
we decided to fold the sofa bed back up!
Doing so created a lovely sofa and a table,
making the room feel even more spacious and versatile for our family!
So, if you're traveling as three adults,
this setup with the sofa bed unfolded is exactly what you can expect.

The original bed configuration is shown in the photo above.
When a friendly staff member came to install the bed guard, they thoughtfully asked
if we'd like the beds pushed together against the wall – a brilliant suggestion for families with little ones!
We happily took them up on the offer, pushing the two beds against the wall
and adding two bed guards on the open side. It created a safe and cozy sleeping space for everyone!
And for anyone planning a family trip to Tenjin with little ones, this hotel comes highly recommended!

As for amenities, you'll find shampoo, conditioner,
body wash, and hand wash right in your room,
and anything else you might need, you can simply pick up from the lobby – how convenient is that?
Since I was traveling with my child, they even prepared special kids' amenities for us!
Inside, we found a toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, and a handkerchief.
It was perfect timing too, as we had just come from Marine World on our check-in day,
so seeing a dolphin illustration on the handkerchief was such a lovely touch! 🐬
They had all the essentials for adults too – toothbrushes, toothpaste, and even razors!
Seriously, you don't need to pack any toiletries.
You can literally just bring yourself!

📌 Mitsui Garden Hotel: Gion vs. Nakasu - What's the Difference?
In Fukuoka, you'll find two Mitsui Garden Hotels – the Nakasu branch and the Gion branch.
If you're wondering which one to pick, here's the lowdown!
The Gion branch is just a 7-minute walk from Hakata Station,
making it super convenient if your itinerary is packed with activities around that area.
However, if you plan to explore Tenjin and Nakasu extensively,
the Nakasu branch offers a much more streamlined travel route, saving you precious exploration time!
3. Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu: The Grand Public Bath

One of the major reasons I chose the Mitsui Garden Hotel?
You guessed it – the amazing grand public bath!
You'll find the grand public bath on the 13th floor.
There's no age check, so feel free to waltz right in!

📌 Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu Grand Public Bath Operating Hours
3:00 PM ~ 1:00 AM (next day)
5:00 AM ~ 9:00 AM
Hotel guests can enjoy complimentary access.
❗️ IMPORTANT: Make sure to check the color of your card key!
There were two key colors – beige and navy –
and these are gender-specific keys.
You'll need to use the appropriate key to enter the grand public bath,
so always remember to bring the one that corresponds to your gender.

The bath was surprisingly spacious and designed to face outwards,
creating the perfect spot to just sit back, relax, and perhaps even gaze thoughtfully into the distance.
Inside the grand public bath, they even had chairs and little buckets adorned with Anpanman!
The kids absolutely loved them and had a blast using them, haha.
And get this – they had around 6 to 7 different types of shampoo and conditioner sets available inside!
Each product had its unique features described,
making it quite fun to pick and try out different ones.
(These are for use within the grand public bath only!)
📌 What to Pack for Your Grand Public Bath Visit
· Your room towel
· Your gender-specific card key
These two are absolute must-haves!
Since your room comes with pajamas and slippers,
you can totally rock that comfy pajama + slipper combo down to the bath.
Good news for those with tattoos – there were no restrictions on entry!
However, for mixed-gender bathing, there were age limits in place!

On the very same 13th floor, you'll also find an ice cream vending machine and a handy coin laundry facility.
It was one of those awesome all-in-one washer-dryer machines,
identical to the one I used at the Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station.
Plus, there's even a cozy corner next to it where you can read manga,
making it a perfect spot to kick back and relax while your laundry is getting done.
4. Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu Breakfast: Details and Pricing

📌 Mitsui Garden Hotel Nakasu Breakfast Pricing
Located at Ono no Hanare Hakata Main Branch restaurant on the 1st floor.
06:30 AM ~ 11:00 AM (Last entry at 10:00 AM)
It's ¥2,860 for adults and ¥1,430 for elementary school students.
You can indulge in a delightful Japanese and Western buffet spread.
You can either book your breakfast in advance as part of your room package
or simply pay on the spot when you arrive.

This restaurant sources its fish directly,
which means their seafood menu is exceptionally delicious!
✔️ For those who want to get to their accommodation directly from the airport without transfers
✔️ For those who want to explore Tenjin and Nakasu on foot
✔️ For those who want to end their day with their child in a grand public bath
When I compared prices before my visit,
booking the same room in advance turned out to be a bit cheaper!
(Later, I noticed there were no rooms left.)
Prices vary slightly by date,
so the most accurate way is to enter your travel dates and check.
