4. Best Route & Essential Packing Tips |
My review of Fukuoka Marine World with kids will follow the order above!
1. Marine World Location
📍 Marine World
18-28 Saitozaki, Higashi Ward, Fukuoka, 811-0321, Japan
📍 Hakata Station
1-1 Hakataekichuo-gai, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0012, Japan
Getting to Marine World from Hakata Station in Fukuoka can be a bit tricky and it's quite a distance. This often leads parents visiting Fukuoka to ponder if it's truly worth the trek with their kids.

My quick answer? Absolutely! Fukuoka Marine World stands out as one of the highest-quality and most captivating indoor attractions in the region. It's truly a unique spot, and I highly recommend it for any family traveling with children.
However, the journey there can be a bit complicated, involving train transfers and even a ferry ride. That's why I personally suggest renting a car for around ~$7-~$14 a day!
🔻Fukuoka Car Rental from ~$7 a Day🔻
Driving through Fukuoka's outskirts means navigating right-hand drive roads, but it's not overly challenging. While public transport (bus and ferry) can take an hour, driving cuts the journey to just 30 minutes, making a rental car a highly recommended option!
2. How to Get Discount Tickets

Here are the current ticket prices for Marine World. With prices for preschoolers starting around ~$4, it offers fantastic value for families!

Adult | ~$16 | ~$15 | |
Elementary/Middle School | ~$8 | ~$7
Child (3-6 years) | ~$5 | ~$4
Senior | ~$14 | ~$14 |
🔺Click on the provider name to navigate to the booking link🔺
As you can see, booking in advance is generally cheaper than buying tickets on-site.
While Klook and Trip.com offer similar prices, Klook provides discounts for purchases over ~$36, and Trip.com for purchases over ~$44. Choose your booking platform based on your total purchase amount.

3. Show Program Schedule

Marine World hosts a fantastic variety of shows! With diverse timings, you can easily plan your aquarium visit around these captivating performances. Make sure to catch them all!
Show Schedule | Weekdays | Weekends |

🔻Check Official Marine World Website for Show Times🔻
I highly recommend checking the official website for the most up-to-date show schedule on your specific visit date!
4. Best Route, Insider Tips & What to Pack

Marine World is quite expansive, so I highly recommend planning your route in advance to maximize your visit.
First, check the show times for your visit date! Then, the most efficient way to explore is to start from the top floor and work your way down.

Check Show Times → 3rd Floor → 2nd Floor → Catch a Show → 1st Floor → 1st Floor Outdoor Area
When I visited, some parts of the first floor weren't connected by direct passages, which meant I had to go back up to the 2nd or 3rd floor to reach them. I missed out on a few areas, which was a real shame! So, definitely start from the top and sweep your way down.

Another insider tip: I don't recommend sitting in the front rows for the dolphin show. You'll get soaked!
I sat quite a bit further back, and the tiered seating meant I had an unobstructed view, making it comfortable for my child to watch as well!

Now, let's talk about what to pack! There aren't many restaurants or shops nearby, so make sure to bring plenty of snacks for your kids.
While Marine World does have its own restaurants, the food options aren't exactly extensive.
Given the amount of walking involved, I also recommend bringing a stroller. Marine World has elevators, so navigating with a stroller was surprisingly easy.
Essentials: Stroller, kids' snacks, wet wipes. If your child walks well, a stroller might not be necessary, but I brought one for my child's nap time!

If you're planning a family trip to Fukuoka, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting Marine World. It's truly one of the most engaging indoor attractions with an abundance of things to see and do!
Remember, booking your tickets in advance online is more affordable than purchasing them at the gate, so make sure to grab yours before you go!
