My travel motto? Always find delicious food and enjoy one more refreshing beer. As a true beer enthusiast, there was one brewery I simply had to visit: the Kirin Beer Factory in Fukuoka.

Unlike some tours, you can't just walk into the Kirin Beer Factory for a tour; you need to book your spot in advance through their official website. Today, I'm going to walk you through the step-by-step process of reserving your Kirin Beer Factory tour in Fukuoka.

First things first, head over to the official Kirin Beer Fukuoka Factory website. Once you're on the homepage, look for the 'Reservation' button, usually located in the bottom right corner, and click it 🖱️.

Choose Your Tour Type

The Kirin Beer Factory offers two main types of tours:

I opted for the Kirin Ichiban Taste Experience Tour. My main goal was a casual factory visit and a refreshing beer tasting, and this tour perfectly delivered. The Premium Tour, on the other hand, is exclusively for guests 20 and over (the Japanese legal drinking age) and includes a more in-depth experience with beer and food pairings. If you're looking for a deeper dive into Kirin's brewing world, the Premium Tour might be for you.

On the reservation status page, you'll see a calendar. Check the available dates (gray indicates unavailable, yellow means available), select your preferred day, and proceed to enter your booking information.

Enter Your Booking Information

You only need to fill in the required fields for your booking information. One detail that might trip up international visitors is that you need to enter your name in Katakana, not English.

I found it easiest to use an online Japanese translator (like the Naver search one linked above) to convert my name into Katakana. Remember that the first part before the middle dot is your family name, and the part after is your given name. Simply copy and paste it into the respective fields.

Scroll down further, and you'll find important notes and precautions regarding the factory tour. Make sure to read through them, agree to the terms, and then scroll down to proceed to the next step.

On the next screen, you'll reconfirm your tour date and time. Then, you'll enter your age, date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY), nationality, and the number of people in your party. Again, only fill in the required fields before moving on to the final confirmation.

Complete Payment

Finally, enter your credit card details, double-check your email address and phone number, and click 'Register Reservation' – and you're all set! The process is surprisingly straightforward, even with the Japanese interface.

I used my travel debit card for payment, and it went through without a hitch. The entire payment process took less than a minute, proving it's much simpler than it might seem!

Once your payment is successful, you'll receive a confirmation email with your unique reservation ID. Make sure to keep this email safe, as you'll need the ID if you ever need to cancel or modify your booking.
