Just like many foreign tourists visiting Korea dream of trying on a Hanbok at Gyeongbokgung Palace or Samcheongdong,
my niece, who joined me on a recent trip to Fukuoka, was eager to experience wearing a kimono in Japan.
Typically, when people look for kimono rentals in Fukuoka, they often head towards Dazaifu.
However, our itinerary was short and packed, making a trip to Dazaifu feel a bit too time-consuming and daunting.
So, we decided to find a rental shop right in the heart of Fukuoka city, making it easy to rent a kimono,
take plenty of photos, and make the most of our limited time.
VASARA Kimono Rental is a chain with locations across Japan.
We personally used and paid for the Fukuoka Tenjin Nishi-dori branch, and it was a fantastic experience!

Advantages of VASARA Kimono Rental Shop

After using VASARA Rental Shop ourselves, we understood why it's so popular.
Kimono rentals in Japan can often be quite pricey, but VASARA's basic plan offers incredible value.
It's an affordable option for travelers looking for a budget-friendly cultural experience.
We opted for the basic plan, which included:
kimono, obi (sash), undergarments, zori (sandals), tabi (socks), and a bag.

💡 Kimono Rental Tip!
Even with the most basic plan, a simple hair setting and one hair accessory (pin) were included, which made it truly great value.
Available plans vary slightly depending on the date and time, so we recommend checking in advance to match your travel schedule!

Where to Take Photos After Renting in Tenjin?

Due to our schedule, we visited around 3 PM, which made it a bit tricky to travel to distant locations.
So, we focused all our photo efforts at Kego Shrine!

It takes just about 5 minutes to walk from VASARA Tenjin Nishi-dori to Kego Shrine.
We were a little worried about walking in traditional zori sandals instead of our usual shoes,
but the distance was surprisingly short and the path was flat, so it was perfectly manageable, even if a bit unfamiliar!
(If you find them uncomfortable, you can always wear your own shoes and switch to zori just for photos.)

No need to travel far! Just get dressed at the rental shop, take a short stroll, and you'll be greeted by vibrant red torii gates and serene shrine scenery.
We were so satisfied with how easy and convenient it was to capture beautiful photos with a distinct Japanese ambiance, without any travel stress.
For those with more time, you could also plan a visit to Ohori Park Japanese Garden, which is just two subway stops from Tenjin Station,
or explore the charming cafes in the nearby alleyways. We originally considered Ohori Park too!
