Discover the perfect 3-day Fukuoka adventure for families! Our guide makes traveling with kids easy, highlighting top attractions and fun activities accessible by public transport.
Fukuoka Must-Visit Spots: A 2-Night, 3-Day Travel Itinerary with Kids

When you're planning a 2-night, 3-day trip to Fukuoka with your kids, it's totally normal to wonder where to go during such a short stay. For me, when I travel with my child, I always prioritize travel time and places my child would absolutely love, rather than how many tourist spots we can tick off!
Fukuoka is super convenient, with the airport close to the city center. Plus, there are so many fantastic places to visit with kids, from Marine World and the City Zoological and Botanical Garden to Konpeito (star candy) making experiences and the Anpanman Children's Museum!
This time, I've put together a 2-night, 3-day itinerary focusing on child-friendly spots within Fukuoka city, all accessible by public transport without a rental car.
1. Why is Fukuoka a great travel destination with kids?

Fukuoka is a fantastic choice for a child's first international trip because of its short flight time from Korea and the quick, easy journey from the airport to the city center (around 15 minutes). You can easily get to all the main attractions using the subway or bus, so no need for a rental car!
What's more, there are places like Marine World Aquarium and Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden where kids can enjoy seeing animals up close, and interactive programs like Konpeito (star candy) making.
And if you include the Anpanman Children's Museum on the last day, it's not just about sights adults enjoy; your child will have something exciting to look forward to every single day!
Another huge plus when traveling with kids is the abundance of indoor attractions. This makes it relatively easy to change plans if it rains or the weather isn't ideal.
2. Must-Visit Spots in Fukuoka City
2-Night, 3-Day Travel Itinerary

Here’s the essential 2-night, 3-day itinerary for a wonderful family trip to Fukuoka city:
2-Night, 3-Day Fukuoka Travel Itinerary
Day 1 | Fukuoka Airport ⇒ Marine World ⇒ Fukuoka Tower |
Day 2 | Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden ⇒ Konpeito Making ⇒ Canal City |
Day 3 | Anpanman Children's Museum ⇒ Don Quijote Shopping ⇒ Fukuoka Airport |
When traveling with kids, it's often best to pick one key spot for the morning and another for the afternoon, rather than trying to pack too many attractions into one day.
On the first day, we'll focus on Marine World, then explore Canal City in the evening. For the second day, the plan is to visit the Zoological and Botanical Garden and do Konpeito (star candy) making, followed by a trip to Fukuoka Tower.
On the last day, after having fun at the Anpanman Children's Museum, you can cross the street for some shopping at Don Quijote before heading to the airport.
The itinerary is great for a 2-night, 3-day trip with kids as there's no need to change accommodations, and most places are easily reachable by public transport.
3. Day 1 Travel Itinerary
Key Itinerary | Marine World Fukuoka Tower |

On the first day, after arriving at Fukuoka Airport, you'll drop off your luggage at the hotel and then head straight to Marine World.
Since it's your travel day, it's best to make Marine World the main event rather than trying to visit too many attractions.
Marine World | |
Operating Hours | 9:30 AM ~ 5:30 PM (December ~ February) 10:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM |
Closed Days | January 18 (Mon) ~ January 21 (Thu), 2027 |
Stroller Rental | Available (with a 500 yen refundable deposit) |
Admission Fee | (Adults) 2,500 yen (Elementary/Middle School Students) 1,200 yen (Ages 3+) 700 yen |
Estimated Visit Time | Approx. 2-3 hours |
Marine World is an indoor aquarium, so it's less affected by weather, and it's also stroller-friendly for easy viewing. Kids absolutely love it here, with a huge tank showcasing diverse marine life, plus exciting dolphin and sea lion shows!
The dolphin and sea lion show schedules are as follows:
You can purchase tickets on-site, but buying online in advance can save you about ~$1 per person.

Fukuoka Tower | |
Operating Hours | 9:30 AM ~ 10:00 PM |
Last Admission | 9:30 PM |
Closing Days | June 28, 2027 (Mon) June 29, 2027 (Tue) |
Ticket Prices | (Adults) 1,000 JPY (Elementary/Middle School Students) 500 JPY (Ages 4 and up) 200 JPY |
Estimated Visit Time | Around 1 hour |
Fukuoka Tower operates from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM, with the last admission at 9:30 PM.
It's not just an observatory; there are also various photo zones, sky illuminations, large gachapon machines, and other activities perfect for families with children.
If you're with children, it's a good idea to go up a bit earlier, matching their condition, rather than visiting too late just to see the night view.
Tickets can be purchased on-site, but if you buy them online in advance, you can SAVE about ~$1 per person.

4. Day 2 Itinerary
Key Itinerary | Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden Konpeito Star Candy Making Canal City |

For the second day, I focused on places where children can actively see and participate.
The plan is to explore the Zoological and Botanical Garden in the morning, have lunch, proceed to Konpeito Star Candy making, and finally, ascend Fukuoka Tower.
Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden
Operating Hours | 9:00 AM ~ 5:00 PM |
Last Admission | 4:30 PM |
Closing Days | Every Monday Year-end and New Year holidays (December 29 ~ January 1) |
Ticket Prices | (Adults) 600 JPY (High School Students) 300 JPY (Middle School Students and Below) Free |
Estimated Visit Time | Around 2 hours |
The Fukuoka City Zoological and Botanical Garden is larger and has more slopes than one might expect, so if you're visiting with young children, it's highly recommended to bring a stroller.
After exploring the Zoological and Botanical Garden for about 2 hours, you can have lunch and then proceed to the Konpeito Star Candy making experience.

Konpeito Making (Star Candy Making) is a program where you get to choose colors and flavors to make two kinds of star candy. It costs 3,600 JPY per pot, and depending on your family size, 1 to 3 people can participate together.
Konpeito (Star Candy) Making
Program Times | 10:00 AM 11:30 AM 1:30 PM 3:00 PM |
Price Per Pot | 3,600 JPY |
Participants Per Pot | 1-3 people allowed |
How to Reserve | Available on the official website |

It's available for a fee from age 3, and since children cannot participate alone, a guardian must also stay by their side.
Rather than just visiting tourist spots, children get to take home the star candy they made themselves, which means they'll keep talking about having made star candy even after the trip is over.
Best of all, it's an indoor program, making it perfect for rainy day itineraries.

Once you've finished making Konpeito, catching the Canal City Fountain Show before or after dinner is a perfect idea.
The fountain show runs continuously, either once an hour or every 30 minutes.
Since there's a lot of travel within the city, you can SAVE on transportation costs by using a city tour pass that includes bus and subway tickets. The advantage is that you don't need to purchase separate transport cards; one Tourist City Pass can cover everything.

5. Day 3 Travel Itinerary
Key Schedule | Anpanman Children's Museum Don Quijote Shopping |

For our final day, we centered our main itinerary around the Anpanman Children's Museum.
Since you'll need to head to the airport on your departure day, I personally don't recommend cramming in too many sightseeing spots.
Anpanman Children's Museum
Operating Hours | 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM |
Last Admission | 4:00 PM |
Closed Days | December 31st, January 1st |
Admission Price (Same price for ages 1 and up) | ¥2,000 - ¥2,200 (Varies between weekdays and weekends) |
Recommended Visit Time | Approximately 2 hours |
Located in downtown Fukuoka, the Anpanman Children's Museum is an absolutely fantastic indoor play area, especially for preschoolers.
There's a wide variety of things to enjoy for everyone, from toddlers to kindergarteners and even early elementary school students. The absolute highlight, without a doubt, is the Anpanman character show.

Beyond that, it's a space that caters to all kinds of children's preferences, offering everything from active play like ball pits, jumping areas, net climbing, and slides, to more relaxed activities such as sand play and role-playing.
Reservations are confirmed instantly, and you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance. So, if your Fukuoka travel plans are set, make sure to book your tickets in advance!
No need to queue up for tickets on site!

After about two hours of joyful play, head across the street for some final shopping at Don Quijote!
Then, pick up your luggage from the hotel and head to the airport, bringing your 2-night, 3-day itinerary to a perfect close.

6. Top Tips for Planning International Travel with Kids?

When planning a travel itinerary with kids, it's not about how many tourist spots you visit.
Personally, what I consider important for international travel with children is to set just one or two main activities per day.
At Marine World, watching the aquarium and the dolphin show can easily take about three hours. If you keep adding more sightseeing spots, both the kids and the parents get exhausted.

Even if your child usually walks well, it's a good idea to bring a stroller. If you were to buy a portable stroller like the Cybex Libelle locally in Fukuoka, it would cost you around ~$197, so it's much better to bring one from home.
While traveling, walking times are longer than usual, and if it coincides with nap time, parents might end up having to carry their child.

And it's also a good idea not to make your last day's schedule too packed.
From hotel check-out to luggage retrieval and heading to the airport, there can be more variables than you expect. So, it's much more comfortable to plan just one indoor attraction, like the Anpanman Children's Museum, which is centrally located and not affected by weather.
If you're traveling through Fukuoka city with kids, instead of trying to see every single attraction over two nights and three days, it's great to approach your itinerary with the mindset that you can confidently skip one or two spots depending on your child's condition.
