Is there really a hotel like this in Fukuoka?
The Hakata hotel I booked with a mix of excitement and doubt.
Let me show you my honest review of ZONK Hakata!

📍 ZONK Hotel Hakata
1-chōme-15-1 Hakataekiminami, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0016 Japan
Just about a 7-minute walk from Hakata Station.
Even with luggage, it's just 7 minutes until you see it right on your left –
it's ZONK Hakata Hotel!
Check-in: 4 PM / Check-out: 12 PM

It looked so neat and tidy, I thought, "Great booking!"
But there was only one reason I booked this hotel!
I was curious if the draft beer was *really* unlimited.
So, the 2nd floor is where the check-in counter and lounge are located.

Once inside, I found an outdoor lounge area.
It was quite hot, so I just snapped a quick photo and headed straight indoors.
The entire second floor is a lounge space.
There were a few travelers waiting to check in,
and others enjoying drinks or snacks they'd brought.

The area you see in the photo below is the free lounge!
It looks pretty much like a standard beverage counter,
but you can use it yourself, and everything is completely free.
A hotel where draft beer is free for ~$38 per person!
Really free?
I was so intrigued that I even asked AI about it.

The concept is that by reducing advertising costs thanks to word-of-mouth from guests enjoying the free drinks
and guests voluntarily posting on social media,
they significantly cut down on ad spending.
This profit is then returned to the hotel guests.
It's quite a brilliant strategy!

As soon as I entered the hotel, the first thing I did was quench my thirst with a glass of beer!
Beer just tastes better when you're traveling in Japan.

There's also coffee, bottled water, and simple snacks like peanuts.
Honestly, with all this, the hotel room just needs to be good enough for sleeping!

For guests staying multiple nights, you grab your own towels from this spot.
It seems they are very disciplined about cutting costs where they can.

What if the room condition is great, *on top of* getting free beer?
Let's head into the room!

We all know that business hotel rooms in Japan can be a bit compact,
but this size is perfectly fine for a comfortable stay.

You'll find a double bed, a desk perfect for a bit of work,
a TV, a safe, an air purifier, and a refrigerator.
Basically, everything you need is here.

The charging outlets are 110V, so be sure to bring a travel adapter.

A hairdryer and bottled water are also neatly provided.

The bathroom was also spotless, and since I chose a room without a bathtub,
it came with a shower stall like this.

Can a welcome drink be this amazing?
Aha!! And this is where the amazing surprise happens.
It's none other than the welcome drinks!!!
Can you see below?
Can you see how many cans there are?
There are a total of 14 cans of beer, highballs, and more.

Not only is the draft beer in the lounge free,
but even the welcome drinks in the room are free!
The important thing is that all these canned drinks
can be taken with you!
We stayed at this hotel on the last day of our trip,
and luckily, our flight included checked baggage.
If our flight hadn't included baggage,
we would have had to leave all those beers behind!!

After a sound sleep at this value-for-money accommodation in Fukuoka's Hakata district,
I was truly amazed that a hotel with unlimited draft beer actually exists.
With all that beer, isn't it expensive?
So, aren't you curious how much this hotel costs??

We stayed on a Friday, and it cost around ~$83.
(Based on 2 people / approx. ~$41 per person)
The price varies depending on your travel dates,
but for a weekday in December, it's around ~$83.
Prices do go up significantly on weekends.
The site below was about ~$30 cheaper than other sites,
so I made my reservation there too.

Many people did that.

Early Check-in and Luggage Storage Services Available?
Check-in is at 4 PM, and check-out is at 12 PM.
What if you want to check in early?
You have to pay 700 yen per hour.
We arrived at 3 PM, which is the usual hotel check-in time,
and just waited in the lobby with a beer.
Since 700 yen isn't overly expensive, quite a few people checked in early.

Luggage storage at Jonk Hotel Hakata is a paid service.
For luggage storage at check-in or after check-out,
it costs 550 yen per item.
For those with a lot of luggage, early check-in might actually be cheaper.
You'll truly feel it.

A hotel where the beer flows endlessly!
Imagine a Fukuoka trip where for around ~$38 per person, you can enjoy ice-cold draft beer
and even grab canned beers to go from your accommodation.
Here's to a fantastic trip!
