Quick answer
- Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata is a 1-minute walk from Hakata Station, ideal for airport transfers and day trips.

When picking a place to stay in Fukuoka,
many travelers find themselves weighing options between Hakata and Tenjin.
While Tenjin is fantastic if shopping is your main focus,
if you're planning airport transfers or day trips to places like Yufuin,
I personally lean towards recommending an area close to Hakata Station.
This time around, I booked my stay at the
Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station, which is incredibly convenient –
just about a minute's walk from Hakata Station!
The room was surprisingly spacious for a Japanese hotel, and I was absolutely delighted with the complimentary lounge access and breakfast.
So, get ready – I'll be sharing all the details about the room, breakfast, and lounge experience!
1. Top Hakata Hotel Pick

📌 Why I Recommend Oriental Hotel Hakata
→ The location was the absolute top reason.
The hotel is right there as soon as you step out of Hakata Station,
meaning no long treks with your luggage.
Plus, it was super convenient to pop back to the hotel to drop things off during the day.
Even better, most Yufuin bus tours use
the Lawson convenience store right inside this hotel as their meeting point.
This meant no extra early morning travel to another pick-up spot!
If your itinerary includes day trips to charming spots like
Yufuin, Beppu, or Dazaifu,
having your accommodation in such a prime location really streamlines your mornings!
2. Exploring Oriental Hotel Fukuoka

I stayed in the Moderate Twin Room.
This room is approximately 21㎡ and
features two comfortable single beds.
Many city hotels in Japan can feel a bit cramped,
with narrow pathways even after just fitting in the beds.
But here, even with two suitcases,
I found there was surprisingly ample space to move around.

By the window, there's a separate chair and a small table –
perfect for enjoying snacks from the convenience store or
just taking a moment to relax.

For a family trip to Fukuoka with 3-4 people,
I'd suggest the Deluxe Twin Room over the Moderate Twin.
The Deluxe Twin is much more spacious, at approximately 32㎡, and
rooms equipped with extra beds, like the one pictured,
still offer plenty of room to move around even with four beds.
(If you're traveling with 3-4 people, it's worth comparing the price of a Deluxe Twin Room or
two separate rooms.)

One of the most unique aspects of the room's layout was
the washbasin being located outside the main bathroom.
As soon as you enter from the doorway, you'll find a dry washbasin,
and then a separate bathroom further inside with both a bathtub and a toilet.

While the setup felt a little unusual at first,
it turned out to be quite practical.
One person could shower while the other used the sink to wash up or get ready, which was a real time-saver!
And a huge bonus: the bathroom also includes a bathtub,
perfect for a relaxing soak after a full day of exploring!
Given its prime location right by Hakata Station,
the Oriental Hotel Fukuoka Hakata Station does tend to be a bit pricier per night.
Even so, you can currently find rates around ~$151 per night.
Prices might be even lower during the off-season,
so definitely check the rates for your specific travel dates!

3. Moderate Twin Room

As you can see in the photos, the room was bright and impeccably clean,
featuring an overall white and wood aesthetic.
I even checked every single bed sheet (it's a habit!),
and they were spotless, so I felt completely at ease using them! 👍🏻

For amenities, generous-sized bottles of ORIENTALIST shampoo, conditioner,
and body wash were provided.
At the sink, there was a separate hand & face wash, and disposable amenities
like toothbrushes, cotton swabs, body towels, and hair ties were also available.
The hairdryer was a ReFa product.
Often, small hotel hairdryers take ages
to dry your hair, but this one had quite a powerful airflow,
so I ended up using it more than I expected!

The room wall had a separate hanger,
and an air purifier was located beneath it.
It was great! On days when I'd been to a Yakiniku or Izakaya restaurant,
I could hang my clothes and even spray them with deodorizer.

Between the beds, there were outlets and USB charging ports,
making it convenient to charge my phone before bed.

The refrigerator was tucked away inside the room,
and bottled water was also provided.
With coffee and an electric kettle also available,
the room pretty much had everything I needed during my stay.
4. The Lounge

📌 Welcome Lounge Hours
Welcome Drinks & Food: 3 PM - 9 PM
Japanese Soba: 7 PM - 9 PM
Welcome Coffee: 8 AM - 11 PM
What I found surprisingly satisfying about Oriental Hotel
was its Welcome Lounge.
There's an outdoor Executive Garden on the 5th floor,
which hotel guests can freely use.
Popcorn and various snacks were also available,
which you could pick up for free in the afternoon.

Coffee was also available for free,
and there was even a draft beer machine. (Draft beer: 500 JPY)

In the afternoon, you could enjoy wine, sake, and snacks,
and free soba was available in the evening.
Since this Hakata accommodation is just a minute from the station,
it was super easy to pop back to the hotel for some soba after shopping,
then head out again without any hassle!
Even though it's located right in the heart of the city,
stepping outside reveals plants and tables,
making it a perfect spot for a little break during your travels.
5. Breakfast & Facilities

Breakfast was served from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
I've often seen reviews calling Oriental Hotel Fukuoka's breakfast a true culinary gem,
and when I tried it myself, I was amazed by the sheer variety.
Fukuoka's iconic dishes like Tonkotsu Ramen, Mentaiko (spicy pollack roe), and grilled fish
were all gathered in one place,
and you could even pick up small portions of various Japanese side dishes.
If you're on a family trip with kids,
it looked perfect for everyone to choose what they liked.
I'll share a separate post link for the breakfast buffet review below.

Among the other facilities, there's also a gym on the 5th floor.
Since it operates 24 hours,
you can squeeze in a workout whether it's early in the morning or after returning from your day of exploring,
regardless of the time.
✔ Those who prioritize accommodation close to Hakata Station
✔ Those with plans for a suburban bus tour
✔ Those looking for a family-friendly accommodation for 3-4 people
This is a Fukuoka hotel I highly recommend for anyone fitting the descriptions above!
Since it's right in front of Hakata Station, the closer your travel date gets,
the more likely your preferred room type might be unavailable,
so if your travel dates are set, I'd suggest checking prices right away.
