Hello everyone! It's Yappi🐰
During my Fukuoka trip, near Hakata Station,
while looking for a place for breakfast,
I visited Dacomecca, famous for its bread!
It's famous in Tokyo and Fukuoka,
and I was curious because it's known as the second brand
of 'AMAM DACOTAN.'
It's also quite close to Hakata Station,
so I thought it would be a great place to stop by as a bakery hopping spot
during your trip.
I visited around 10 AM,
and there was already a long line for waiting,
which made me realize that popular places really are different, haha.

Dacomecca is located on the Hakata Exit side of Hakata Station,
about a 3-minute walk away.
Since it's close to the station,
it's great for having breakfast around Hakata Station,
or for a quick stop during your travel itinerary.
When I visited,
the queue extended outside the store.
However, the entrance guidance was well-organized,
so the line moved faster than I expected.
If your schedule is tight,
I recommend visiting with a bit of extra time!

🥐 What's the Vibe at Dacomecca?
As soon as I entered the store,
the first thing that caught my eye was
the bread displayed on the curved counter.

There were so many varieties,
that just looking at each one
took quite a bit of time to choose, haha.
Especially in the central open kitchen,
they were grilling sausages over charcoal.

With the sizzling sight of them cooking
and the savory aroma filling the store,
I got hungry even before I could choose my bread!

That day, we picked out a variety of things
and tried them right inside the store!
🌭 5 Recommended Dacomecca Menu Items
The menu items I personally chose that day were
a total of 5!
✔️ Dacomecca Dog 529 yen
✔️ Dakometka Burger 562 JPY
✔️ Thick Bacon Gratin 454 JPY
✔️ Chestnut Bostock 356 JPY
✔️ Canelé 259 JPY
We also ordered an Iced Drip Coffee
with these!(1 cup 490 JPY)
(Chestnut Bostock and Canelé were for takeout)

First, we tried their signature menu item,
the Dakometka Dog.
It had a thick, homemade sausage grilled over charcoal
served whole, so with every bite,
that delightful snap was just perfect.

The bread was plain yet wonderfully chewy,
and the sausage was savory and juicy,
so they paired perfectly together!
Personally, among all the items we tried that day,
the Dakometka Dog was my absolute favorite!

Next up, the Dakometka Burger!
It's filled with purple cabbage slaw, a patty,
pumpkin, and more.
The cabbage slaw was sweet and tangy, making it surprisingly
light and not at all greasy.
If you're looking for a hearty breakfast
with just one bread item, this would be a great choice.

The thick Bacon Gratin truly showcased
the savory and rich flavors of bacon and gratin,
and surprisingly, the bread was incredibly fragrant and delicious!
Perhaps because Dakometka bakes their own bread,
each one had a distinct flavor? That was truly unique!

The Chestnut Bostock we took home
was sweet and savory, making it
perfect to enjoy with coffee.

Finally, the Canelé had that perfect crunch on the outside and a moist, tender inside –
an undeniably delightful treat! 👍
☕ Is it recommended for breakfast near Hakata Station?
We felt it wouldn't be complete with just bread,
so we also ordered an iced drip coffee.

The coffee was 490 JPY,
and it was clean with a pleasant acidity,
pairing wonderfully with the richly flavored breads.

I wondered if it was okay to eat so much bread first thing in the morning haha,
but it's perfectly fine when you're on a trip!
Most importantly, it's so close to Hakata Station,
which made it super convenient for our morning itinerary.
💡 Things to keep in mind before visiting Dakometka!
Dakometka can have a wait, so I recommend
visiting with some extra time.

Takeout is available, and you can also eat right inside the store,
so if you're planning a bakery tour in Fukuoka,
it's definitely worth a visit.

If you're a bread lover like me,
when you're traveling in Fukuoka near Hakata Station,
and looking for a place to enjoy breakfast or brunch,
be sure to save Takometka! 🤍

If I go back next time,
the first thing I'd want to try again is the Takometka Dog,
haha!
