Reservation Methods & Waiting Tips
Nikuyaki Benjamin is a popular spot among Fukuoka's local office workers, especially during peak lunch and dinner hours. To guarantee a table and avoid any potential lines, I highly recommend making a reservation in advance through the 'Hot Pepper' website.
✔️ I visited around 12:40 PM on a Sunday, and luckily, I was able to get a table right away without any wait!
Exterior / Interior
You'll find Nikuyaki Benjamin in the underground restaurant area of the JRJP Building, right next to Hakata Station.

Once you head inside, you'll easily spot it with its name "Nikuyaki Benjamin" written in red, accompanied by an adorable cow illustration.

At the entrance, you can preview the menu items, and you'll notice they offer a variety of dishes beyond just gyukatsu.

The interior features both counter seating, perfect for solo diners, and table seats for enjoying a meal with companions. Although the tables were a bit small, the friendly owner was kind enough to combine tables for us, making our dining experience very pleasant.

Menu & My Order
Don't worry if you don't speak Japanese! Just scan the QR code, and an English menu will pop right up. Besides gyukatsu, they offer a wide array of delicious options like beef tongue, meat sushi, yukhoe (beef tartare), and even cold noodles.

My Order:
·Japanese Black Wagyu Gyukatsu Set: 2,310 JPY * 2
·Sapporo Draft Beer: 418 JPY
My Experience
As soon as we placed our order, a refreshing Sapporo draft beer arrived. The perfect ratio of foam to beer immediately won me over!

Soon after, our gyukatsu set arrived! The set includes rice, salad, and soup. The soup was a savory and rich egg drop soup with a slight starchiness, while the salad offered a delightful balance of savory and tangy flavors.

The gyukatsu comes with a total of four sauces, including wasabi and salt, along with some *gatsujirushi* (pickled mustard greens), a common Japanese side dish.

With the rice added, our complete gyukatsu meal was ready!

Nikuyaki Benjamin's gyukatsu is served on a sizzling, cow-shaped hot plate with bean sprouts and carrots. Doesn't that beef look absolutely divine?

Simply grill each piece to your preferred doneness on your personal stone plate. Once you pop it in your mouth, you'll experience a delightful explosion of crispy breading and succulent, juicy beef.

The gyukatsu is lightly seasoned, making it perfect with rice, and it pairs absolutely fantastically with a cold beer!
