Grand Residence Hotel Hakata Review 2026: Budget Family Stay
Searching for an affordable family stay in Fukuoka? Check out our review of The Grand Residence Hotel Hakata, offering spacious rooms and cooking facilities for a comfortable 2026 trip.

My trip to Fukuoka was decided rather suddenly during the Chuseok holiday,
so I started looking for accommodation about ten days beforehand.
I could see the prices increasing in real-time.
I realized the Hakata city center would be too expensive,
so I focused on value-for-money residences and found a place I booked
for 2 nights at ~$192.
It's **The Grand Residence Hotel Hakata**.
I'll meticulously explain everything, including its **comfortable size for a family of three**,
the **cooking facilities**,
and the **essential precautions** you absolutely *must* take in advance since it's an unmanned hotel :)

4-chōme-4-12 Higashihie, Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, 812-0007 Japan
Location and Value for Money
The price for a 2-night stay from September 26th (Sat) to 28th (Mon) during peak season was
~$192, which was
almost half the price or even cheaper compared to other places.

Its location is slightly away from Hakata Station,
but you can get to Hakata by taking one subway stop from Higashihie Station
or by walking for about 15 minutes.
Since Fukuoka Airport is so close to Hakata anyway,
this small amount of travel was well worth it for the value.

Our family of three used the family room.
There was one double bed and a futon/duvet set.
The room was more spacious than it looked in the photos,
so it was perfectly fine for our family.
When we woke up in the morning, we'd fold the futon in half, and it didn't get in the way as we moved around.
(You have to put on the duvet and pillow covers yourself).

The bathroom was separated from the toilet,
and there was a small but very Japanese-style bathtub.
After a lot of walking, I was really craving a half-bath, and it was the perfect size.
There was also a disposable detergent packet on the washing machine,
so laundry was possible if needed.
For our 2-night stay, the provided towels were sufficient.

I used Agoda when I made my reservation.
Prices vary depending on your dates, so it's a good idea to compare a couple of platforms.

The Charm of a Residence Hotel with Cooking Facilities

Last time I went to Osaka, I stayed at an apartment-style hotel,
and the system was pretty much the same.

A key feature is the ability to cook in the room, which was fantastic when we wanted to enjoy a meal comfortably.
On our second day, we bought groceries at a nearby supermarket and grilled beef ourselves.
It allowed us to save on food costs while experiencing a unique travel vibe,
I was incredibly satisfied!

The kitchen was well-equipped with everything you need for cooking,
including tableware, pots, cutting boards, and knives.
Plus, there's a balcony for great ventilation,
so I think it was excellent in many ways :)
★★★★★ Essential Tip for Checking In at the Self-Check-in Hotel!

If you're reading this and plan to book this hotel,
please, please, there's one thing you absolutely must remember.
This is a self-check-in hotel, so you'll need to check in directly at the kiosk in the lobby.
After you make a reservation, the hotel will frequently contact you via email
asking you to pre-register your passport.
Seriously, don't put it off because it seems bothersome; make sure you do it beforehand!

If you have to scan and enter each passport detail for all guests on the spot,
it takes an incredibly long time.
The keyboard is awkward, and you'll get incredibly frustrated...
When I was checking in, the groups in front of me
hadn't pre-registered their passports at all,
and they were stomping their feet in frustration at the kiosk. It was exhausting to watch,
and the waiting time was truly agonizing. ㅜ
After sightseeing all morning and being completely exhausted,
you just want to get inside and lie down.
Surely, you'd want to avoid going through that ordeal standing in the lobby, wouldn't you?
There was even a grandmother with young children standing there, and I truly felt so sorry for them. ///
If you complete your passport registration via email beforehand,
when you arrive, you can simply scan a QR code
check-in in just 1 minute and head straight up to your room.
This isn't an option; it's absolutely essential!

If you're looking for spacious rooms, the convenience of cooking facilities,
and above all, an amazing price,
there's no better place for travelers who prioritize value for money.
If your travel dates are set,
check out the available rooms and prices first!
