EN Hotel Hakata Fukuoka Review 2026: Canal City & Budget Stay
Discover EN Hotel Hakata, a top budget-friendly pick just a 2-minute walk from Canal City. Perfect for exploring Fukuoka without breaking the bank.
Quick answer
- EN Hotel Hakata is a budget-friendly hotel located a 2-minute walk from Canal City.
- Rooms are compact with poor soundproofing; consider requesting a room furthest from the elevator.
- Check-in is self-service via kiosk; Fukuoka charges an accommodation tax of 200 JPY per person per night.
- Amenities are self-serve in the lobby, and free universal adapters are available for loan.
- A two-night stay in a Cozy Double room without breakfast cost approximately $240.

EN Hotel Hakata: A Value-for-Money Stay in Fukuoka,
I spent 2 nights there for ~$240 during the long holiday weekend.
When I was looking for accommodation in Fukuoka for the long holiday weekend in October,
even the so-called value-for-money options were almost double the average price! It was quite a shock.
I compared it with Canal City Hotel,
but Canal City Hotel was undergoing renovation work
in October.
So, I decided on
EN hotel Hakata, which is right nearby.
✔️ The hotel rooms are small, and the soundproofing is really not good.
Still, because of its amazing location and the fact that it's a non-smoking hotel,
I didn't regret it!
Booking the EN Hotel Hakata Cozy Double Room
My Fukuoka accommodation review is self-funded!

I booked a Cozy Double Room without breakfast
for 2 nights at ~$240.
I compared prices based on 2 adults, a Cozy Double Room, and no breakfast included.
Yeogiyaeottae | Rakuten | Agoda |
~$72 | ~$101 | ~$57 |
Based on one night, among the dates I compared,
Agoda was the cheapest!!
Depending on your travel dates,
you might find options cheaper than Agoda.

EN Hotel Hakata Location
I was absolutely thrilled with the location !!!
It's only a 2-minute walk to Canal City;
just cross one traffic light and you're there.

It’s right in the middle of Hakata Station and Tenjin Station.
Ichiran Main Store is a 15-minute walk away,
and the local 24-hour supermarket Maxvalu is a 5-minute walk.
There's a Seven-Eleven right next to the hotel,
but since there are so many hotels in the vicinity,
it's always crowded.
Self-Check-in and Accommodation Tax
I checked in using a self-service kiosk.
❌ There's no separate deposit ❌

However, Fukuoka charges an accommodation tax per person.
For EN Hakata, it's 200 yen per night.
Since there were two of us, we paid 800 yen on-site.
Card payments are also accepted! 🙆♀️🙆♀️
When you check in, you'll receive a receipt,
and your room number is written on it.
Don't throw it away; make sure to check it.
Right by the kiosk, there's even a luggage scale, which was super handy for checking my baggage weight on the final day.
From midnight to 5 AM,
the lobby doors are accessible only with your card key,
which gave me such peace of mind when returning late at night.
Complimentary Amenities & Rental Items
You can pick up amenities right in front of the elevators,
taking just what you need.

However, if you head down late at night, many items might be out,
so I recommend grabbing them earlier!
The hotel also offers quite a few complimentary rental items!

There's a helpful guide posted in the elevator, making it super easy to check what's available.
And even if you forget your universal power adapter (the 'pig nose'!),
you can borrow one for free from the lobby!
Inside the En Hotel Hakata Cozy Double Room
The room is exactly what you'd expect from a Japanese hotel.

When I booked, I knew it was a budget-friendly hotel,
so I really just expected a place to sleep.
But stepping inside, it actually felt even smaller than I'd imagined.
Two adults on the bed pretty much fill it up!
Even so, we were able to fully open two suitcases
on the floor.
The heating and cooling are centrally controlled,
meaning you can't turn it off in the room, only adjust the fan speed.
Even in October, the air conditioning was running,
so it got a bit chilly at night.
Given how common indoor smoking can be in Japan,
I was initially concerned about cigarette odors.
But, happily, it's a non-smoking hotel throughout all guest rooms, so I didn't detect any smell whatsoever.
Just a heads-up, there's a designated smoking room on the 2nd floor if you need it.
For charging in the room, you'll need a 110V 'pig nose' adapter or you can use the USB ports.
USB-C ports are unfortunately not available ❌

The bathroom window and door, visible from the bed,
are entirely made of glass.
And the blind on the bed side doesn't come down all the way,
so you get a little peek inside, haha!
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided,
but for toothbrushes, remember to grab them from the amenity station.
The hairdryer actually had a surprisingly strong airflow, which was great to use.
Seriously, the soundproofing is practically non-existent, haha!
It's honestly some of the worst I've encountered in any accommodation.
You can hear conversations from the hallway clearly right inside your room.
If you're sensitive to noise,
definitely make a note in your request to get a room as far away from the elevator as possible!
It was a major holiday, so accommodation prices were double the average.
Despite that, I managed to snag a fully non-smoking hotel just a 2-minute walk from Canal City
for ~$240 for two nights.
Given the circumstances, I think it was a pretty solid choice!

If I ever find myself back in Fukuoka,
there are three compelling reasons why I'd choose En Hakata Hotel again:
✅ Optimal Location: Perfectly situated between Tenjin and Hakata Station.
✅ Fully Non-Smoking: Despite the weak soundproofing, it's a completely non-smoking hotel.
✅ Value for Money: No deposit required, and it held its price well even during peak holiday season.
All in all, this truly makes it a fantastic value-for-money hotel.
I wholeheartedly recommend En Hakata!
