Fukuoka Don Quijote Nishidori (2026): Shopping & Tips
Fukuoka's Don Quijote Tenjin Nishidori: a calmer shopping spot. See its layout, tax-free tips, and my personal list of recommended buys (and misses) for 2026.
Quick answer
- Don Quijote Tenjin Nishidori is generally less crowded than the main Tenjin store.
- Tax-free checkout is located on the 5th floor and is typically faster.
- Store operating hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 AM daily.
- Recommended buys include Ichiran Ramen kits, konjac jelly, and Bourbon Elise Pakira.
- Makizume Care PRO Support Seals were not effective and are not recommended.

When it comes to Don Quijote shopping in Fukuoka, my usual go-to was always the Tenjin Main Store,
But this time, I decided to check out their brand-new Nishidori branch!
When I visited, it was noticeably less crowded than the main store,
making for a much more pleasant experience – I didn't even have to queue for tax-free checkout!
I'll share my top recommended items that I personally bought and tried,
along with a few that, well, didn't quite hit the mark :)
1. Nishidori Store: A Smoother Shopping Experience Than the Tenjin Main Store!

The Don Quijote Tenjin Nishidori store is conveniently located
just about a 3-minute walk from the original Tenjin Main Store.
With both stores so close, you can easily browse one first,
and if you don't find what you're looking for, hopping over to the other is a breeze.

Operating Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 AM
5-minute walk from Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station
8-minute walk from Tenjin-Minami Station
Tax-free Shopping Available

While the Tenjin Main Store boasts an incredible variety of products,
it could sometimes get so crowded that I'd feel completely exhausted from shopping.
The Nishidori store, while slightly smaller than the main branch,
offered a much more relaxed shopping experience thanks to fewer crowds.

You can explore the store from the 1st to the 5th floor,
with the tax-free counter conveniently located on the 5th floor.
I made my way through the floors, browsing from the bottom up,
and then headed to the 5th floor for checkout as my final step.

But the absolute best part? The tax-free checkout!
There was hardly any line compared to the main store, so I was able to pay right away.
Of course, it might vary depending on when you visit, but
when I was there, the entire process from shopping to checkout
was significantly smoother and more convenient than at the Tenjin Main Store.
2. My Personal Don Quijote Recommendations (Tried & Tested!)

Ichiran Ramen – something I always pick up whenever I go to Japan.
It's perfect for enjoying at home,
and it makes for a fantastic, universally appreciated gift, which is why it's a frequent choice for me.

My boyfriend loves chocolate,
but he's not a huge fan of matcha.
So, I mostly pick up matcha products for friends who've asked for them.
I also highly recommend the Meiji chocolate right next to it!
It has this wonderfully smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture that I just adore.

Konjac jelly is another must-buy for me every time I visit Japan.
It's one of those products I absolutely have to grab!
As it's a large-capacity Don Quijote private brand (PB) product,
it's great for trying out different flavors, and you get a generous amount.
My only minor complaint is that the price seems to creep up a little each time I visit... ㅠㅠ

My boyfriend picked this one out, and even I, who usually avoids chocolate,
find myself reaching for this snack!
It's like a slightly larger, elevated version of Korea's Choco Heim,
with a richer chocolate flavor,
and I love that it has almonds sprinkled throughout for a satisfying crunch.
This is definitely one of those snacks that made me wish I'd bought more after trying it!
So if you're a chocolate snack lover, I absolutely recommend it! 👍

I'm completely obsessed with root vegetables!
Dried chestnuts and sweet potatoes...
Why are they so expensive back home in Korea??
Because of my deep love for root vegetables,
I end up tossing one or two into my basket every single time I visit.

Yamazaki NV 700ml / 15,900 yen
Yamazaki 12 Year Old 700ml / 26,900 yen
Yamazaki Story of the Distillery 2026 / 19,900 yen
Compared to regular liquor stores,
it's roughly 2,000-3,000 yen more expensive,
but if you maximize Don Quijote's tax exemption and discount coupons,
the price difference narrows considerably.
If you're not planning to visit a dedicated liquor store,
it seems like a good option to buy it here.

These mosquito repellent rings are perfect for summer,
designed to be worn on your wrists or ankles.
They're super convenient because they're not a spray type,
and if you give them as a gift to friends who love camping or have kids,
you'll instantly become the most thoughtful person ever! 😉

I always buy one of these when I travel, it's my go-to for capturing memories:
Fujifilm Disposable Film Camera

It can take a total of 27 shots,
and if you know that Fujifilm aesthetic, you know what I'm talking about, right?
If you want to capture some unique travel memories, grab one!

I was a little disappointed with the Monchhichi I bought before,
so I wanted to buy a different one this time.
However, many types were sold out,
so I couldn't find one I liked.

It's a bit embarrassing, but I have ingrown toenails,
so this is a product I use.
It's designed to last for about a month,
but I haven't seen much of an effect, so I wouldn't recommend buying it if you're considering it!

There were so many types of Crayon Shin-chan figures,
I picked two, but I didn't get any of the ones I wanted.
If you buy them in Korea, they're about ~$15 each,
so if you love Shin-chan, definitely buy them in Japan!

My scalp is quite sensitive,
so I don't usually buy full-sized products that I'm trying for the first time.
Buying samples like these first allows me to try them out at the hotel during my trip,
which is great for deciding if I like them.
If there's a product you're curious about, always look for samples first!

You could find Hello Kitty, Pochacco, Kuromi, and more.
The character selection was really diverse.
They're small, so they don't add much to your luggage,
and they'd make a nice gift for friends who love Sanrio.
They looked like a perfect lightweight souvenir.

This hair oil consistently makes it onto my recommended list!
I buy several bottles of it every time I visit Japan.
I've tried many different products, but in my opinion, this one is neither too heavy
nor excessively light, so I find myself reaching for it often.
It was 500 yen when I first bought it, but the price has gone up.
Still, considering the price and user experience compared to other products,
it's a product I keep buying.

These are magnetic patches you apply around your shoulders or neck.
They came in various configurations depending on the quantity.
I'm actually wearing one on my shoulder right now as I write this post,
and personally, I feel a bit more comfortable when I have it on.
※Individual experiences may vary

They also had the Anua Azelaic Acid mask packs,
which are quite popular in Korea these days.
I have sensitive skin, so I didn't purchase it for myself,
but a friend asked me to pick one up because it's known to be good for acne, so I did!
3. I'll head to the Nishidori store first next time too.
After exploring this time, I think I'll head straight to the
Tenjin Nishidori store again next time.
Most of the products I typically buy were available,
it wasn't overly crowded, and there was barely any wait for tax-free service.
As a traveler for whom time is precious, the ability to save time
was a huge perk in itself.
