Collector Mugs

Every year, the Fukuoka Christmas Markets offer exclusive, limited-edition mugs that make for fantastic souvenirs. When you purchase a drink, it's served directly in one of these special mugs! (Drinks, including the mug, typically cost around 1000-1500 Yen, which is approximately $7-$10 USD).
Each market location features a unique mug design. The mug at the bottom left of the image is an ultra-rare, limited edition that's only released on snowy or rainy days!
Tenjin Central Park

First up is Tenjin Central Park, which hosted the largest market I visited. Honestly, some of the other markets felt a bit like just food stalls and nothing more, but the Central Park market definitely had a true festival vibe.

With numerous sculptures and sparkling lights everywhere, it was beautiful to behold and offered plenty to see and photograph.

They even had magic shows and live music performances, which were incredibly entertaining. This was my top pick among all the Fukuoka Christmas Markets!
If you're short on time or just want to visit one market, I highly recommend Tenjin Central Park.
Hakata Station Square

Next up is the market at Hakata Station Square. Since Hakata Station is a major hub you'll likely pass through during your Fukuoka trip, this market is perfectly situated for a convenient visit.

While not enormous, it boasts a good number of stalls and features classical music performances, drawing a lively crowd.
The hours are also generous, from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM, making it easy to fit into your schedule.
Nakasu River to Guest House Area

You can easily explore the area from the Guest House all the way to the Nakasu River. This section focuses more on illuminations and Christmas trees rather than numerous stalls.

It's filled with countless Santa Claus figures and makes for fantastic photo opportunities! It's a great spot to check out on your way to take the Nakasu River Cruise.
Fukuoka City Hall Square

The market held in front of Fukuoka City Hall boasts significantly more stalls than other locations.
You'll find an incredible variety of items for sale, from beer, hot chocolate, wine, sausages, and steaks to candles and charming little trinkets.

And it's not just about the shopping; there are plenty of photo zones and decorations too! It felt like the second largest market after Central Park.

After visiting all five locations, I personally found Tenjin Central Park and the Nakasu River area the most captivating. Just remember to visit in the evening after sunset! The atmosphere is completely different and truly magical.
If you love festive Christmas vibes, I highly recommend checking out all five of these Fukuoka Christmas Markets during your visit!
