1. Getting from Fukuoka Airport to Tenjin Station
There are three main ways to travel from Fukuoka Airport to Tenjin Station:
the airport bus, the subway, or Uber.
For our Fukuoka trip, it was a family affair with my parents and me, making us a group of three.
I quickly decided that navigating public transport with my parents and our luggage would be too much hassle, so we opted for Uber.
(Happy parents, happy travels!)
(Good to know: Fukuoka Airport is famously close to the city center, which is a huge plus for transfers!)
2. My Fukuoka Uber Experience & How to Get Discounts
After collecting our luggage at Fukuoka Airport, I immediately hailed an Uber using the app (it's super user-friendly, much like other ride-sharing apps you might use at home).
We did wander a bit trying to find the designated Uber pick-up spot, but a quick ask to the helpful airport staff pointed us in the right direction.

Here's the taxi I called – isn't it adorable?

It was a compact car, similar to a Kia Ray in style, but surprisingly spacious inside for our group and luggage.
(I haven't ridden in a Kia Ray, so I can't compare directly, but it was perfectly comfortable!)

Our driver was excellent and got us to our destination safely and smoothly. Highly recommend!
Travel Time & Cost

We hopped in around 4:32 PM and arrived at 4:55 PM, making the trip approximately 23 minutes.
The Uber fare came out to ~$12 after applying a discount.
(The original fare was around ~$18, and we saved ~$6 with a promo code!)
Isn't that an incredibly reasonable price?!

Even if you were to use the airport bus or subway, a group of three would likely pay upwards of ~$10, so I wholeheartedly recommend Uber for groups of three or more! 🖤😎
How to Save on Your Fukuoka Uber Ride
Discount Codes
The best way to get a discount on your Fukuoka Uber ride is by using a promo code.

I personally used an Uber discount code for both legs of our journey:
📌 from Fukuoka Airport to our accommodation
📌 and from our Tenjin accommodation back to Fukuoka Airport
We saved money on both rides!
You can easily find these codes by searching online for 'Japan Uber discount codes' or 'Fukuoka Uber promo codes'.
(Quick Tip) In Japan, when you call an Uber or similar ride-hailing service (like Kakao Taxi if it were available), a call-out fee of around ~$2 (300-400 JPY) is typically added to your fare.
✔️ Therefore, it's best to save your Uber discount codes for longer rides, like airport transfers, where the overall cost is higher. For shorter distances within the city, grabbing a traditional taxi off the street might be more economical.
3. Fukuoka Airport to Tenjin by Uber: Overall Review and Recommendation
As someone who usually travels on a budget, this was actually my first time using Uber in Japan, despite several previous trips.
And let me tell you, it was utterly convenient and made for a truly happy start and end to our trip! Haha!
The streets of Fukuoka are charming, and the air-conditioned comfort of the taxi was a blessing. 🥺🥺
Using Uber for transfers between Fukuoka Airport and Tenjin Station (or even Hakata Station) is especially recommended for:
▷ Families traveling with parents or young children
▷ Summer trips to Fukuoka during July, August, or September (hello, air conditioning!)
▷ Groups of 3 or more travelers
That concludes my review of using Uber to get from Fukuoka Airport to Tenjin Station! Enjoy your trip! -😘😘
