Fukuoka Airport: Your Gateway to Kyushu
Good news for travelers: Fukuoka Airport isn't far from the city center at all! It's just a quick 5-minute subway ride from Hakata Station and about 10 minutes from Tenjin Station, making it incredibly accessible.
Since most of Fukuoka's top attractions are easily reached by subway, if your itinerary involves more than three subway rides in a day, snagging a subway pass will definitely save you some cash. It's a smart move for exploring the city!

I checked the airport's official website for duty-free opening hours, but traveler reviews suggest there can be slight differences—sometimes up to 30 minutes for individual stores. Always a good idea to double-check!
Generally, the duty-free shops operate from 7:00 AM until the final departure flight.
However, tobacco, alcohol, and souvenir shops typically open a bit later, around 7:30 AM.
Restaurant and cafe hours vary by establishment, but most are open from around 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM until 8:30 PM.
For a quick overview of shop locations, your best bet is to check the map near the duty-free entrance!
Dining Options
You'll find the main restaurant area conveniently located in the center of the duty-free zone, right in front of the Sake Lounge.
They've got pretty much all your Japanese food cravings covered, from Udon and Hamburg Steaks to Yakitori, Tempura, Motsunabe, Tonkatsu, and Ramen. Perfect for a final taste of Japan before you fly!
Sake & Spirits
The alcohol shop is right next to the Sake Lounge. You'll often find prices here significantly cheaper than what you'd pay back home.
The highly sought-after Dassai 23 is usually kept in a refrigerated display, ensuring its premium quality.

While these prices are excellent for duty-free, they might be slightly higher than what you'd find at department stores within Fukuoka city itself. Still, for convenience and availability, it's a great option!

When it comes to cosmetics, you'll spot well-known luxury brands like Dior and Chanel, alongside Japanese favorites such as Shiseido. Just a heads up, the selection isn't massive, but you can still find some great essentials.
Snacks & Souvenirs
For all your souvenir and snack needs, you'll need to head towards the gates. Specifically, aim for the direction of Gates 53-59. While there are smaller souvenir shops near Gates 50-52, they're quite limited in size, so I highly recommend heading to the larger section to the right for the best selection!
A pack of Royce Chocolate will run you about ~$8, and the chocolate chips are around ~$7. It feels like Royce prices have gone up quite a bit recently!
Don't forget the adorable Hiyoko Manju (chick-shaped steamed buns) and Castella cake! A 12-piece box of Hiyoko Manju is approximately ~$11, and a Castella cake is around ~$8. Both make wonderful gifts for family and friends.
You'll also find famous treats like Tokyo Banana and Sugar Butter Tree further inside. These are often individually wrapped and reasonably priced, making them perfect for souvenirs.
Beyond these, there's a huge variety of other goods, including dried mentaiko (spicy cod roe), shrimp crackers, and even Ichiran Ramen souvenir packs. Despite the seemingly compact space, the selection is impressive!
The checkout lines aren't usually too long, so make sure to arrive at the airport a little early to give yourself plenty of time to explore all the duty-free delights!

You should head towards gates 53-59 for snack and souvenir shops. While there are shops near gates 50-52, they are smaller, so it's better to go towards gates 53-59, which is to the right.
