How to Get from Fukuoka Airport to Hakata Station by Bus

After you've collected your luggage, simply follow the arrows pointing towards the Domestic Terminal Connection Bus (Subway).

You'll soon arrive at the International Terminal Bus Stops 6 & 7. These buses will take you directly to Hakata Station's Chikushi Exit.
If your hotel is near Hakata Station, this is often the most convenient route, as you don't need to transfer to the Domestic Terminal first.
If your accommodation is on the opposite side, near the Hakata Exit, you might need to walk across the station, so it's always a good idea to check the route from the drop-off point to your hotel!
You can even get a small discount, paying ~$2 instead of ~$3, by using supported credit cards or public transport IC cards.
For an even better deal, consider purchasing your bus ticket online in advance from home, as it's often slightly cheaper than buying on-site.

How to Get from Fukuoka Airport to Tenjin by Bus
Buses to Tenjin depart from International Terminal Bus Stop 8 and drop you off at the Nishitetsu Tenjin Expressway Bus Terminal.
If your hotel is located around Nishitetsu Fukuoka (Tenjin) Station, this is the route we highly recommend!
However, Tenjin is a large area, so don't assume a 'Tenjin Hotel' is necessarily close to the bus terminal. Always double-check your exact location!
Please note that this route does not accept travel cards or credit card payments on the bus; you'll need to purchase your ticket from a ticket vending machine.
Purchasing your tickets in advance from home can save you time waiting in line at the vending machine!

How to Take the Subway from Fukuoka Airport International Terminal
Since our destination was Watanabe-dori Station, we opted to use the free shuttle bus between the International and Domestic Terminals, followed by the subway.
The International Terminal doesn't have a subway station, so you'll need to follow the signs for the Domestic Terminal Shuttle Bus / Subway.

Keep following the signs, and you'll see directions for the Domestic Terminal connection bus. Just keep going straight!

Once you exit through Exit A2, you can catch the free shuttle bus to the Domestic Terminal.
📍Important Note📍
Be careful not to confuse it with the paid Hakata-bound buses (6 & 7) on the left side!

The Domestic Terminal connection bus was right there as we exited. What a win!

After about a 15-minute bus ride, you'll step off right at the Domestic Terminal subway station!
Just follow the subway signs down to Fukuoka Airport Station. You can reach Hakata Station and Tenjin Station without any transfers on the Airport Line.
Our Experience Traveling to Watanabe-dori Station

Our accommodation was the Monte Hermana Fukuoka, which required us to transfer to the Nanakuma Line at Hakata Station.

We took the Airport Line two stops to Hakata Station. From there, we didn't exit the ticket gates but followed the green signs for the Nanakuma Line transfer!
It was incredibly well-organized and easy to navigate, with clear signage making the transfer a breeze. So convenient!^^

Catch the train bound for Hashimoto, and you'll arrive at Watanabe-dori in just three stops: Kushida Shrine Mae → Tenjin-Minami → Watanabe-dori!
From Watanabe-dori Station, it's just a 2-minute walk to the Monte Hermana Fukuoka Hotel! Super close and convenient, definitely a good choice!
The subway fare from Fukuoka Airport Station to Watanabe-dori Station is ~$2! Including the shuttle bus wait and transfer time, we arrived at our hotel in exactly 50 minutes.
This was a complete success! Fukuoka's city access is excellent, with both subway and bus getting you to your destination quickly. So relax and enjoy your trip!
