This is Mini, sharing my meticulously curated Japanese travel stories, just for you.
Fukuoka is that perfect Japanese getaway you can easily squeeze into your schedule, even with just one day off!
With its short flight times and the city center being so close to the airport,
it's no wonder it's a popular choice for a 2-night, 3-day trip.
In this post,
I'm excited to share a comprehensive overview of my own 2-night, 3-day Fukuoka itinerary.

Travel Essentials
The very first thing on your Japan travel checklist should be
registering for Visit Japan Web.
If you register in advance, you can breeze through immigration
using a QR code, which is incredibly convenient.
Another travel essential for Japan is a SIM card (or eSIM),
which I purchased through Usism and even got a 20% discount!

While card payments are now widely accepted in Japan,
some street food stalls and restaurants might still only accept cash.
You can withdraw local currency from ATMs using a travel card,
and if your card has a contactless (Wi-Fi) symbol on the back,
you can even tap directly to ride the subway!
DAY 1 | Tenjin & Hakata Food Tour
The flight from Incheon to Fukuoka takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes,
making it a hassle-free trip with a short flight time.
It's truly a gem among Japanese destinations.

From Fukuoka Airport to the city center,
it's only a 10-minute drive, so if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling with 3 or more people,
taking a taxi or Uber is a great option.
Our accommodation for this trip was a standalone Airbnb,
which is super convenient if you're traveling with kids or as a group.

Our first activity was creating custom Uniqlo T-shirts!
At the Tenjin Uniqlo store, we could design our own T-shirts,
making it a perfect souvenir for the trip.
While waiting for our T-shirts to be made, our first meal was
at Inabacho Ikkei, famous for its sea bream ochazuke.
For our second stop, we visited a Tenjin izakaya
and ended the night at Hakata Kitarosushi.
DAY 2 | Ramen, Shopping, Momochi Beach
The next morning, for a perfect hangover cure,
we started strong with Tonkotsu Ramen – an absolute must-try when in Fukuoka!
We indulged at Nakasukawabata Kirin.
After our meal, it was time for some shopping at the Hakata store for Comme des Garçons,
a must-have on any Japan shopping list.
After all that shopping, it was time for one of those must-try Japanese dishes!
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at
Sushi Sakaba Sashisu Kitte Hakata.
With our bellies happily full,
we headed to Fukuoka's Momochi Beach to catch the sunset.
For dinner, we indulged in some delicious yakiniku with a view of the Naka River,
at Ryuen Nishinakasu, a popular yakiniku spot.
For our second round, we found ourselves at a lively izakaya packed with locals,
the budget-friendly Hitokuchi Gyoza Taketora.
When it was time to head back to our accommodation, we decided to try out Fukuoka's local bus system,
and it was surprisingly easy to navigate!
DAY 3 | Shopping and Departure
To kick off our last day, we cured our morning hangover (or just fueled up!) with a hearty breakfast at
the incredibly affordable udon chain, West Udon Tenjin.
No trip to Japan is complete without a shopping spree at
Don Quijote Fukuoka Tenjin!

After finishing our shopping,

The recently renovated Fukuoka Airport International Terminal Duty-Free area
now boasts a diverse array of food courts, snacks, and shops,
offering much more to explore than I expected.
For my return flight, I flew with Air Seoul.

Even though it was a short 2-night, 3-day trip,
Fukuoka is a city vibrant enough to fill every moment with enjoyment.

The flight time from Incheon to Fukuoka is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. It takes about 10 minutes by car from Fukuoka Airport to the city center.
At the Tenjin Uniqlo store, you can create custom-designed T-shirts. This is a great activity for making a travel souvenir.
Inabacho Ikkei is a famous restaurant known for its Sea Bream Ochazuke. You can visit for dinner on the first day and enjoy the Sea Bream Ochazuke.
You can purchase a Japanese SIM card through a SIM card provider. By using a SIM card provider, you can receive a 20% discount.
On the second day, after a hearty meal, it's recommended to head to Fukuoka Momochi Beach to watch the sunset. You can also take a taxi from Hakata to Momochi Beach.
