Honestly, Japan's capsule hotels, especially the female-exclusive ones, are fantastic! The facilities are usually top-notch, making them feel even safer than Airbnbs or standard business hotels when you're traveling alone. Plus, you get incredible value for your money!

Finding affordable accommodation in Fukuoka these days, especially in 2026, can be a challenge. During peak seasons like cherry blossom season, even basic business hotels can have sky-high prices.

First Cabin Hakata boasts an unbeatable location right in the bustling Nakasu River area. With the Don Quijote Nakasu store right next door, you know you're in the heart of the action!

You'll find various convenience stores nearby, and the streets are lively even late into the evening, so I never felt unsafe walking around after dark.

Just take the elevator up to the 8th floor, and you'll easily spot First Cabin.

What's more, First Cabin Hakata has completely separate areas for women and men. The door on the left leads to the women's section, and the one on the right is for men.

Aside from the shared dining lounge, every other area, including restrooms, is 100% women-only, so you can feel completely at ease.

2) First Cabin Rooms: Is This Really a Capsule Hotel?!

First Cabin Hakata offers two main room types: Business Class and First Class. I booked the Business Class for my stay.

Don't let the term "capsule hotel" make you think it's tiny or claustrophobic! First Cabin rooms have high ceilings and are surprisingly spacious, so you won't feel cramped. It's more like a private bed with partitions than a traditional cramped capsule.

This is the First Class cabin. First Class definitely offers more space and even includes a desk.

But since I was traveling solo and primarily needed a comfortable place to sleep, I opted for the Business Class for its excellent value!

3) My Business Class Cabin Experience (Restrooms, Showers, & Public Bath)

I kept my luggage right outside my cabin door and simply opened it up whenever I needed something!

The slippers provided are more for indoor hotel use, so I highly recommend bringing your own pair of comfortable slippers or Crocs! Trust me, repeatedly putting on and taking off sneakers just to go to the restroom gets tedious.

For important items or things you use often, you can store them in the locker or on the shelf next to your bed. (You'll receive a locker key during check-in.)

Each cabin comes equipped with lighting, individual air conditioning, charging outlets, and a TV—everything you need!

Even though you have your own private space, knowing there are other people nearby actually made me feel more secure!

Personally, for solo travelers, I think a capsule hotel is far safer and better than a cheaper standard hotel.

Some Japanese capsule hotels require you to leave during afternoon cleaning hours, but that wasn't the case at First Cabin. You can relax comfortably in your cabin at any time.

The restrooms are separate, and the shower area includes a public bath.

Toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, cotton swabs, hairdryer, facial cleanser, toner, and lotion are all provided.

After walking 10,000 steps (about 5 miles) every day, I loved soaking my tired body in the warm public bath before bed!

4) Is It Suitable for Solo Female Travelers?

When planning a solo trip to Fukuoka, especially as a woman, deciding on accommodation can be a big concern, right?

I've stayed everywhere from 5-star hotels to business hotels, but if I were to travel solo again, I would absolutely choose First Cabin Hakata!

Above all, it feels incredibly safe due to the presence of other guests, offers fantastic value, and is spotlessly clean! Plus, I'm quite sensitive to noise, and it was surprisingly quiet here.

5) Final Thoughts

One small note: the street in front of the building is a bar district. In the evenings, you'll see staff from "girls' bars" standing outside. It's not a dangerous atmosphere at all, and you can simply walk past them, but it was a bit surprising to see at first!

Aside from that, First Cabin Hakata in Fukuoka has absolutely no downsides! If you're looking for solo accommodation in Fukuoka, I highly recommend it :)
