Aqua Trek Fiji Shark Diving Review 2026: Pacific Harbour & The Pearl Resort
Seeking an unforgettable underwater adventure? Discover our thrilling shark diving experience with Aqua Trek in Fiji's Pacific Harbour, including booking insights and our stay at The Pearl Resort.

My husband and I both adore water activities,
so we chose the **South Pacific island of Fiji**
as our honeymoon destination, hoping for a less-known getaway.
While snorkeling in the clear, pristine waters is amazing,
we also decided to try **scuba diving**
to get an even closer look at the incredible marine life.
Fiji is especially famous for its **shark diving experiences**, allowing you to see sharks up close!
So, we booked a dive shop that takes you to some of the most renowned
shark-filled spots.
I've compiled everything from our **Coral & Shark Diving experience with Aqua Trek**, a scuba diving shop
located in Fiji's Pacific Harbour, to details on
**how to book, prices, and accommodation options**.

1. Aqua Trek Booking & Prices
The company we went with is called
**Aqua Trek**, located in Pacific Harbour.
When researching Fiji travel, my go-to online community mentioned it as one of the most
renowned scuba diving spots in Fiji,
and they also said it takes you to excellent sites for shark diving, which was exactly what we wanted.

Booking is straightforward: just select 'Contact Us' on their website
and fill in the required information.
You'll receive an email confirming your booking request,
and once the desired options and dates are confirmed,
they'll send you a **payment link** via email.

Once payment is complete, you'll get a receipt like the one above,
just in case, I saved the PDF file to my phone.
And it's a good thing I did!
On the day we went to the dive shop, they didn't have a proper record of our full payment, including equipment rental,
but a quick flash of the receipt cleared everything right up.

Aqua Trek primarily offers two types of diving experiences.
The available days and prices for both **Shark and Coral diving**
are as follows:
Category | Shark Diving | Coral Diving |
Available Days | Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat | Tue, Thu, Sun |
Diving Fee (2 tanks/day) | $180 | $145 |
Equipment Rental/day | $25 | $25 |
Other | Marine Conservation Fee $13 | - |
For both diving options, you need to be at the dive shop by 8 AM,
and the return times to the shop differ by about 30 minutes.
Shark diving returns around 12:30 PM,
while Coral diving returns at 1:00 PM.

2. Accommodation: The Pearl Resort

Our accommodation for the two days of scuba diving was
**The Pearl Resort**!
On the Aqua Trek website, there's a package that bundles
diving with accommodation, and
**The Pearl Resort** was the designated hotel in that package.
However, when we looked at the costs, doing the **package deal actually turned out to be more expensive**.
Of course, the package might offer a really high-end room,
but since our main purpose was scuba diving, we didn't need a lavish suite.

Even though Fiji can be quite pricey,
it was great that a 4-star resort like The Pearl Resort only cost
**~$292** for two nights, which felt very manageable.

When I checked Aqua Trek's location on Google Maps,
Street View wasn't well supported, so I was worried, thinking,
'Will there even be a path from The Pearl Resort to Aqua Trek?'
I arrived with a 'we'll figure it out when we get there' mindset,
and while checking out the resort's facilities,
I discovered that ***Aqua Trek is actually located right within The Pearl Resort's grounds***!
3. Scuba Diving Review

When we arrived to check in at 8 AM,
people started to arrive, one by one.
We wanted to experience both coral diving and shark diving,
so we adjusted our honeymoon itinerary accordingly.
Diving on Sunday and Monday allowed us to do both.

After everyone arrived and geared up in their wetsuits and equipment,
we boarded the boat heading out to sea.
The air tanks on the boat were well-secured in dedicated storage spaces,
preventing them from falling over,
which made it easy to organize our gear once we got back on board after the dive.

Inside the boat, there was a shark guide
with information on different shark species, their appearance, and sizes.

The cooler at the front of the boat was packed with
cookies and bottled water, perfect for a quick energy boost.

Our hearts were pounding with excitement on the way to coral diving!
The Western divers engaged in a lot of small talk,
so I tried my best to listen and
joined in conversations about diving.
Hearing about the experiences of seasoned divers in different oceans than my own,
made me want to build up my stamina and strength to enjoy scuba diving for many years to come.

Our Coral Diving trip on the first scheduled day.
To be honest, the water wasn't as crystal clear and transparent as I had hoped.
However, there were so, so many coral reefs,
and I lost all track of time admiring each one.

On the rocks closest to the sea,
swarms of small fish gathered.
While the coral reefs were already vibrantly colorful,
seeing the dazzling array of colorful fish filling my sight
made me fall in love with scuba diving all over again.

The next day was Shark Diving!
What I had imagined was simply swimming around underwater,
and occasionally encountering a shark by chance.
However, the reality was that they used tuna heads, which sharks love,
placed and locked in a large green container,
to lure the sharks.

You might worry about sharks biting you during a shark dive,
but the divemasters behind us had long poles,
and if a shark came too close, they would gently redirect it,
preventing them from approaching the divers.
And the divers sat quietly, gathered behind a low, rock-built 'wall',
to observe the sharks.

Since the divers had very little movement,
after a while, it started to get a bit chilly.
But being able to see so many sharks right up close,
and in such large numbers,
it felt almost like sitting in an aquarium, watching them.

Sharks and fish being lured by the tuna heads.
The container with the tuna heads wasn't kept in one spot;
it was constantly moved around, here and there.
A video where you can see the sharks in even higher definition!
After seeing the small fish, watching the huge sharks
with their prominent movements,
I was mesmerized, just watching how they swam.
Before finishing the dive and getting back on the boat,
we also saw coral reefs on the upper part of a shipwreck during our safety decompression stop.
It was breathtakingly beautiful.
Seeing the adorable fish swimming above and within the coral reefs,
I almost couldn't bear to leave the water!

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the prices and operating days for shark diving and coral diving at Aqua Trek?
Shark diving operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It costs $180 for a 2-tank dive, plus an additional $13 marine conservation fee. Coral diving takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and costs $145. For both dives, the daily equipment rental fee is the same at $25.
Is it cheaper to use The Pearl Resort accommodation package when diving with Aqua Trek?
It is financially cheaper to book the diving and accommodation separately rather than using The Pearl Resort accommodation package provided on the Aqua Trek website. If diving is your main purpose and you do not need an expensive room, it is better to book your accommodation separately through a hotel booking platform.
How is the shark diving at Aqua Trek Fiji conducted underwater?
Instead of divers swimming around freely, they sit behind a low stone wall and watch the sharks being lured by a bin filled with tuna heads. Divemasters stand by with long poles to redirect the sharks if they come too close to the people, ensuring a safe viewing experience.
What are the start times for the Aqua Trek diving tours and what time do you return to the shop?
For both shark diving and coral diving, you must arrive at the Aqua Trek shop by 8:00 AM to check in. After completing the activities, you will return to the shop at 12:30 PM for shark diving and at 1:00 PM for coral diving.
