Discover why Fairfield by Marriott Agra is the ultimate budget-friendly hotel for your Taj Mahal trip, featuring clean rooms, a mall connection, and a great breakfast.
When planning a trip to Agra, let’s be honest: your itinerary is mostly going to revolve around the iconic Taj Mahal and the historic Agra Fort. Because the sightseeing options are relatively concentrated, choosing a hotel with the perfect location and pristine amenities is absolutely key. During our recent family trip, we stayed at the Fairfield by Marriott Agra, and it turned out to be an absolute home run for comfort, safety, and value.

A Stroke of Genius: The Shopping Mall Connection
While the hotel isn't sitting directly next door to the Taj Mahal, it's only about a 15-minute drive (roughly 3 miles) depending on Agra's infamous traffic. Anyone who has visited Agra before knows that once you're done with the main historical sights, there isn't a whole lot of walkable tourist infrastructure nearby.
That is why this hotel’s direct connection to an adjacent shopping mall is an absolute game-changer. It offers a safe, predictable, and highly convenient escape for families, which is why we picked this over other hotels closer to the monument.

Hassle-Free Dining & Shopping: Having a modern mall right next door means you have plenty of clean, recognizable dining options and retail shops to browse without dealing with aggressive street vendors.

Safe Late-Night Beer: Walking around Agra late at night isn't always recommended for tourists. However, because the mall is directly connected, we were able to easily slip out in the evening to grab a cold craft beer and dinner at a lively brewpub right next door without any safety concerns.
Unbeatable Value & Pristine Hygiene
The Perks of a New Property
Hygiene and cleanliness are often the top concerns for travelers heading to India. Since this property opened its doors in late 2023, those worries completely vanish. It still retains that fresh, sparkling new-build feel. Finding this level of pristine cleanliness for around ~$70 a night in India is an absolute steal.

The moment you step into the lobby, you are greeted by a sleek, modern aesthetic that makes you forget the chaotic streets outside. Our entire family let out a sigh of relief upon checking in—it is incredibly fresh and comfortable.

An Unexpected Room Upgrade!
Because we were traveling as a family, we booked two Deluxe City View rooms. To our delight, the front desk upgraded one of our bookings to a gorgeous Suite King Bed Guest Room! The suite offered a generous amount of extra space, giving our family a perfect central spot to gather, lounge, and plan our days.

The suite opens up to a cozy living room setup complete with a comfortable sofa. While a standard room runs about ~$70, upgrading to this suite would normally cost around ~$90 to ~$96—which is still an incredible bargain for Marriott quality.

They even had a lovely fresh fruit platter waiting for us as a welcome gesture in the suite.

Plush bathrobes and slippers were also provided for extra comfort!

Moving past the living partition, you find the master bedroom featuring an ultra-comfortable King bed. The linens were crisp, spotless, and up to international luxury standards. We couldn't have been happier with the room condition at this price point.

The bedroom also featured its own dedicated seating area with an additional armchair and side table.

The bathroom was exceptionally clean and modern, which is always a massive relief when traveling in India.

Just a quick heads-up: don’t expect a breathtaking "city view" from your window.
The view outside mostly consists of older, crumbling buildings and local redevelopment sites. But honestly, once you draw the sheer curtains, it’s not an issue at all.

A Breakfast Buffet Worth Waking Up For
The breakfast quality here is outstanding. They offer a fantastic spread ranging from authentic Indian breakfast staples to classic Western favorites. The fresh fruit and pastry selections were particularly impressive, offering plenty of variety.

The dining room itself is clean, bright, and spacious. You can order fresh coffee directly from the staff, though the flavor was just average—but still a welcome morning pick-me-up.

The menu is approachable enough even for picky eaters. Kids will easily find familiar options to fill up on before heading out for a busy day of exploring the Taj Mahal.

They even have a live egg station where chefs whip up fresh, hot omelettes to order!

The bread and pastry corner had an extensive selection, making it easy to grab a quick, satisfying bite.

It is incredibly hard to find a hotel in Agra of this caliber for around ~$70 a night. With its modern 2023 construction, clean facilities, mall convenience, and top-tier breakfast buffet, it checks all the boxes. If you are planning a trip to Agra and want to keep your budget reasonable without sacrificing safety and comfort, this is a fantastic choice. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
It takes about 15 minutes by car, depending on traffic conditions. While it is not located right next to the Taj Mahal, it is directly connected to a shopping mall, offering great value and convenience.
Rates vary depending on the booking date, but standard Deluxe City View rooms start at ~$70. Suite King Bedrooms can be booked for around ~$90 to ~$102.
The hotel is directly connected to a shopping mall, so you can safely move around even late at night. It's a great choice to dine at the restaurants inside the mall or grab dinner at the pub located right next door.
There is a wide variety of local Indian and Western-style dishes available, and they cook omelets to order on the spot. A diverse selection of fruits, desserts, and breads is also provided, so you can choose according to your taste.
