but those who have been there rave about it and highly recommend it.

Even though I've been to Spain many times, this was my first visit to Málaga,

and I immediately understood why everyone recommends it.

It was such a charming city!

Unfortunately, I only stayed for one night,

but I definitely plan to stay for two nights or more next time.

Anyway, today I'll be sharing my recommendations for hotel locations in Málaga,

introducing the Eurostars Malaga where I stayed,

1. Where to Stay in Málaga?

When considering where to stay in Málaga, there are generally three main areas to choose from.

These are the Zambrano train station area, the city center, and near the beach. Both the train station to the city center, and the city center to the beach, take approximately 25 minutes on foot.

If I had stayed in Málaga for 2-3 nights, I would have chosen a hotel in the city center.

Restaurants and bars typically open for dinner after 7 or 8 PM and stay open until midnight, so for late-night dining and entertainment, the city center is ideal.

It's also convenient for easily visiting attractions like the Alcazaba and various museums.

Staying near Malagueta Beach offers the advantage of enjoying ocean views, but personally, I'd probably just walk there from the city center.

While the city center is the most recommended location in Málaga, I stayed at a hotel near the train station. This was because I only had one night and wanted to minimize travel time with my luggage.

In retrospect, I think it was an excellent choice. If you're like me, staying only one night and then moving on to another city, I highly recommend the area near the train station. The train station is connected to the airport, and the bus terminal allows for travel to nearby cities, making it optimal for saving time and energy.

The next station after Zambrano station, where I got off the train from the airport, is Malaga-Centro Alameda station, which is a bit closer to the city center.

I chose the area near Zambrano station because I had to go to the bus terminal the next day, but if you're flying in and out of Málaga Airport, Malaga-Centro Alameda station is also a good option.

*Note: Only Cercanías local trains run through here, which only go to very nearby small towns, so trains to places like Seville or Granada do not operate from this station. It's only convenient for airport transfers.

2. Eurostars Malaga: Great Value Near the Train Station

I took a regional train from the airport and then walked to the hotel. There was a short uphill section on the way, which was a bit tiring.

Eurostars is a Spanish hotel chain you'll find throughout Spain.

The hotel felt quite a bit older, but it was well-maintained.

Oh, and the staff member was incredibly kind! When I mentioned it was my first time in Málaga, they meticulously marked various places on a map and explained everything so thoroughly and for such a long time. I almost felt bad that I couldn't visit all the places they recommended...

Looking at the hallway, can't you tell it's a bit older? Haha. It's not particularly chic, and the carpet makes it a bit inconvenient for dragging luggage.

But don't worry, the rooms don't have carpet! Haha.

Upon entering the room, you'll immediately see the bathroom. It's a pretty standard bathroom, nothing extraordinary, and it has a shower stall.

Next to the toilet, you'll find the European-style bidet, which most people are familiar with by now.

Across from the bathroom, there's a closet. Somewhat unusually, the coffee maker and mini-fridge are located here. Inside the fridge, you'll find the usual paid drinks you probably won't touch.

This is the layout if you turn back towards the entrance from inside the room: the bathroom next to the mirror, and the closet opposite it!

There's a TV and a table; it's quite a spacious table.

Since the twin-bed room was cheaper than the double, I simply went with the twin. There's also another small table next to the beds.

I'm not sure if you can tell, but the room was quite spacious. It was big enough to comfortably open up two large suitcases without any trouble!

While the outlets by the bed didn't have the direct USB charging ports that are common these days, looking at it now, there really are a lot of power outlets!

Eurostars Malaga, for a 4-star hotel, wasn't overly luxurious; it felt a bit simple and showed its age, but it was perfectly sufficient for a one-night stay. I was actually surprised by how generally pricey hotels in Malaga were, but I think this one offered pretty good value for money among them.

Interestingly, no matter which site I checked, the prices were quite similar. I booked through Agoda, but feel free to use whichever booking site you're most comfortable with.

When I checked recently, Trip.com showed the lowest price for me, likely due to my past train ticket purchases there. If you've ever bought train tickets on Trip.com, definitely give it a look!

3. Recommended Hotels in Malaga

Hotels in this area tend to be a bit pricier compared to Granada, which led to a lot of deliberation. Since I was only staying for one night, I knew I wouldn't spend much time in the room, so it didn't need to be super expensive, but good room condition was still a must... haha.

After comparing, here are a few other places I considered and recommend:

✔️Roommate Larios

This hotel is located right in the absolute heart of Malaga's city center.

Given its prime location, it's not a brand-new building, so the hotel itself is on the smaller side, but it's very clean. If staying in the absolute city center is your top priority, this place offers truly the best conditions.

✔️Hotel Málaga Alameda Centro Affiliated by Meliá

This was the place I debated until the very end before deciding to just go for a slightly cheaper option.

Its location isn't exactly in the dead center, but it's closer to the train station, and a bit more central than where I stayed.

It's slightly more expensive than Eurostars Malaga, but the room condition is good, and the location is decent.

✔️Barcelo Malaga

This one is the priciest on my list. It's a modern hotel directly connected to the train station, and it looks absolutely magnificent from the outside!

It was practically right in front of my hotel, so I saw it every time I passed by. If you have a generous budget and want a hotel near the train station, definitely go for this one.

As a fun side note, if you check out its detail page, you'll see a unique feature: there's a slide connecting what looks like the 2nd floor down to the ground floor! (I wish I could try it!)
