Los Valle
Hola, fellow explorers! It's your travel guide here, ready to share another incredible culinary find.
When you're in Spain, indulging in churros isn't just an option; it's practically a requirement! What makes it even more exciting is that each city boasts its own famous churrerías, offering a unique chance to compare and discover regional variations.
Today, we're diving into my experience at Los Valle, a beloved local churros spot I stumbled upon in Malaga, a vibrant city in Southern Spain. This is where the locals go for their morning fix!

Los Valle Churros, a top churros spot in Malaga, is bustling with locals from early morning. It turns out this place boasts an impressive 80-year history! With a fantastic 4.6-star rating on Google, and conveniently located not far from my hotel, I knew I had to check it out for breakfast. Doesn't its exterior just exude that charming, authentic neighborhood vibe?
2. Inside Los Valle & The Menu

When I arrived around 9:30 AM, the place was packed with locals – I almost didn't snag a seat! The interior isn't modern or overly polished, but it has a wonderful, lived-in feel, full of character and local charm (definitely not dirty, just a very traditional aesthetic). The Spanish tiles on the walls are absolutely my style; a little TMI, but I adore these patterns!

I honestly wasn't expecting an English menu in such an authentic spot, but they had one! However, don't expect fluent English from the staff. Interestingly, next to the English options, the Spanish menu lists "churros" as "Tejeringos" at the top. I'll explain more about that unique Malaga style below.
3. My Review of Los Valle: Beyond the Classic Churro!
So, what about these Tejeringos?

I ordered one serving of churros and one hot chocolate, and my order arrived incredibly fast. They're constantly frying churros right by the entrance, so they're always fresh, and the hot chocolate was poured right in front of me.

But hold on – take a look at these churros! They don't look like the typical churros I'm used to seeing.
These are actually called Tejeringos (pronounced teh-heh-REEN-gohs), the unique Malaga-style churros. While the dough is similar to traditional churros, their distinct shape and softer texture set them apart. You could say they're a regional variation within the broader churro family, offering a taste of Malaga's specific culinary heritage.
Having eaten churros many times across Spain, I'd never encountered this particular form before! A single serving, as pictured above, usually includes about 2-3 pieces. If you're dining with a companion, ordering two servings would be a good idea.

You can practically feel the richness and thickness of the hot chocolate just from the photo!
I'm not usually a huge fan of overly sweet foods, and churros aren't my absolute top preference, so I only ordered one of each. But let me tell you, this place absolutely nails their hot chocolate. It was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and utterly delicious. I almost regretted not ordering a second cup!

Of course, a morning coffee is a must, so we each ordered a cup. The coffee was pretty standard, nothing to write home about. As for the churros, I found them a bit on the salty side and slightly greasier than what I'm used to, perhaps because they lacked the crispiness of more common churros. My husband enjoyed them, but for me, they were just okay. However, that incredible hot chocolate alone makes me want to go back!

The total bill came out to around 5 Euros, and yes, they accept card payments! Interestingly, I exited through a different door than I entered; the interior is rectangular with doors on both ends.
Spain is the true birthplace of churros, and you'll find quite a variety in appearance and style from one region or churreria to another. You certainly won't find the theme-park style churros you might be familiar with from amusement parks back home here in Spain. Part of the fun of traveling through Spain is making it a point to pop into highly-rated churrerías in each city and savoring their unique take on this classic treat!
Wishing you all a wonderful trip to Spain!
Buen Viaje!

Tejeringos are churros in the Malaga style. The dough is similar to regular churros, but they have a different shape and a softer texture. While they fall under the churros category, they are a dish with distinct local characteristics.
When ordering churros, hot chocolate, coffee, etc., the approximate cost was about ~$5. Card payment is also accepted.
