When planning my Portugal itinerary,
I splurged on a room with an epic view in Porto,
so I was on a mission to find a budget-friendly gem in Lisbon!
Since Lisbon is the capital, accommodation prices
naturally run a bit higher. However, I found this incredible spot
where the most affordable rooms hover around ~$154—an absolute steal! :D

After staying here, I can honestly say the location is unbeatable!
Since I booked and paid for this stay entirely out of pocket,
I'm sharing my unfiltered pros and cons, plus room footage!!
I hope this helps you plan your perfect Lisbon trip!
1. Why the Location is Top-Tier
With the exception of the Belém district, most of Lisbon's
major tourist attractions are concentrated in the Baixa district.
Because of this, the majority of travelers choose to base themselves here!

Esquina Urban Lodge is smack in the middle of all the action!
It's only a 3 to 10-minute walk to major landmarks,
and there's a supermarket and a Starbucks right nearby,
making daily coffee runs and snack hauls incredibly convenient.

Since it's a bustling downtown area, you might wonder about safety.
Even when returning to the hotel around 10 PM, the streets
were well-lit and lively. I felt completely safe walking around!
Before booking, I scoured hundreds of reviews,
and finding almost zero complaints is what finally sold me :)
2. Room Condition & Amenities
For a budget-friendly Lisbon hotel,
the room condition was spotless and surprisingly nice!

One unique detail I noticed during check-in was the
Bed bug safe certified plaque on display!
It was my first time seeing an official bed bug safety certification
at a European hotel, and honestly, reading those words
instantly gave me so much peace of mind!

There is an elevator, but you do have to walk up
half a flight of stairs to reach it, so be prepared to carry your bags slightly.
The staff offered to help me with my luggage at check-in,
but since it was just a few steps, I easily managed it myself!
The elevator fits one person and a large checked bag
with just a little room to spare—a very classic European elevator experience!

The interior features a clean, minimalist white aesthetic,
with only about 4-5 rooms per floor.
I didn't hear any noise from neighboring rooms during my stay,
though you will hear some street chatter if you leave the windows open!
However, the street quiets down significantly by bedtime,
so unless you're trying to sleep very early in the evening, it won't be an issue.
Premium City View Room
Because I booked my trip somewhat last-minute (about a month out),
the cheapest standard rooms were already completely sold out.
I ended up booking the slightly upgraded Premium City View Room.
If you want the best budget deals, you definitely have to book early! ^.ㅠ

The bathroom layout was actually quite unique.
The sink is situated in the middle, with a separate shower room
on the left and an enclosed toilet space on the right!

The shower featured two showerheads,
which was surprisingly handy if you needed to rinse out some light laundry.
There's also a wide, flat shelf to place your toiletries.
So many hotels lack proper shower storage, making it annoying to
bring your own products, but here I could line everything up perfectly!!

The separated spaces were a huge plus.
When you enter the short hallway, the bathroom is on one side
and the bedroom is separated by a door.
This entry space is quite wide, making it the perfect spot
to leave one of your suitcases fully open.
My room was about 247 square feet, which felt very spacious!
Even with two large checked bags open on the floor,
we had plenty of room to walk around comfortably ㅎ.ㅎ

Like many Portuguese hotels, complimentary water
is provided in reusable glass bottles. If you prefer sealed plastic bottles,
I recommend grabbing some at the nearby supermarket!

The air conditioning worked perfectly and everything was great,
but as someone who loves ice-cold drinks, my one disappointment
was that there is no mini-fridge in the room.
Many European boutique hotels skip the mini-fridge,
so if having cold storage is a dealbreaker, keep this in mind! :)

The clean, crisp bedding gave me the best night's sleep!
The pillows weren't overly high, which was perfect for my neck.
There are electrical outlets on both sides of the bed,
making it incredibly convenient to charge all our devices at night ㅎ.ㅎ

Being able to open the windows for fresh air was lovely.
Even better, Uber and Bolt cars can pull right up to the front door!
Not having to drag heavy luggage across Lisbon's famous cobblestones
made our arrival from the airport incredibly smooth.
By the way, Bolt is exceptionally cheap in Portugal,
so if you haven't used it yet, definitely download the app and use a promo code! :)
3. Pricing & How to Book
As mentioned earlier, you can easily book a room for around ~$77 during the off-season,
and even during peak season, it hovers around ~$154.
Considering the prime location and room quality, it's a phenomenal value.
Currently, there is almost no price difference between Agoda and Trip.com,
so I recommend booking through whichever platform you prefer.

I used Trip.com because I had some points saved up.
If you use the Toss digital payment app promo, you can get a 5% discount (valid until 05/31/2026).
You can save up to ~$46 on your booking!
1) Exclusive 5% Discount Link < Click and copy the coupon code
2) Enter the code at checkout when booking Esquina Urban Lodge

Even for a one-night stay, it shaves about ~$8 off the price!
And you can actually apply this code to other hotels as well ㅎ.ㅎ
Personally, the lack of a mini-fridge was a slight bummer,
but the phenomenal location and price point far outweighed it.
If you're the type of traveler who spends all day exploring and
wants a clean, reasonably priced place to crash, this is a fantastic choice! :)
