My journey started with exploring Kamakura on the first day,
and then on the second, I ventured onto Enoshima Island.

▼▼ Curious about my Kamakura adventure? Check it out! ▼▼
When I was planning my Kamakura trip,
my initial idea was..
to explore Kamakura for a while,
catch the sunset from Enoshima,
and then revisit any spots I missed the next day.
But, as travel often goes, things changed! I somehow ended up watching the sunset in Kamakura...
and explored Enoshima on the second day instead ^^..
📍 Enoshima
Enoshima, Fujisawa, Kanagawa 〒251-0036, Japan

Enoshima is a truly special place where you can soak in that quintessential Japanese street atmosphere, serene shrines,
and breathtaking open sea views all at once.
While exploring famous tourist spots is always a blast,
I also believe capturing beautiful landscapes as a backdrop for my travel photos is just as important.
This time, I really focused my exploration on Enoshima Shrine, the iconic Sea Candle,
and places boasting incredible ocean views.

If you're planning to combine your Enoshima adventure with a trip to Kamakura,
here's an amazing half-day Enoshima itinerary that you'll find incredibly helpful.
Let's dive in!
First things first: An IMPORTANT tip before your Enoshima trip!!
Seriously, wear sneakers!
It's an island, but get ready for lots of uphill and downhill paths.
My thighs were screaming by the end of it!

1. Enoshima Shrine Shopping Street

Upon arriving in Enoshima, the very first place I immersed myself in was
the charming shopping street that leads up to the shrine.
Lined with a vibrant array of shops and delicious street food,
it was absolutely perfect for a leisurely stroll and some delightful browsing.
You can explore the charming alley atmosphere,
enjoy street food,
and even grab some souvenirs.
If you keep walking straight through the shopping street, it leads directly to Enoshima Shrine.
It was great because you could naturally continue your path from one spot to the next.
2. Enoshima Shrine

After exploring the shopping street,
you'll find Enoshima Shrine.
Admission is free,
and it's so beautiful that I highly recommend taking a full tour.
📍 Enoshima Shrine
2-chōme-3-8 Enoshima, Fujisawa, Kanagawa 251-0036 Japan

Wandering around the shrine, I really soaked in that unique Japanese atmosphere,
and it was exciting to discover different scenes with every turn.

Since Enoshima's paths are all connected,
I recommend exploring the whole island.

However, there are some uphill sections and stairs, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes for your visit.

3. Lover's Hill

From Lover's Hill, you can see the coastline through the bell.
It's also a very popular filming location for Japanese movies and dramas.
📍 Lover's Hill (Ryuren Bell)
2 Chome-5 Enoshima, Fujisawa, Kanagawa 251-0036 Japan
It was such a beautiful spot for taking photos.
On a clear day, you can even see Mount Fuji!
But on the way there,
there are seriously SO many crows...!

6. Uomitei

It's famous as the most popular photo spot on Enoshima Island!!
You need to go about halfway down the stairs from Uomitei to find the iconic photo spot we all know.

You might wonder if it only looks pretty in photos?
But it's absolutely stunning in real life!!!
However, because the line gets long,
you'll want to snap your photos and move along quickly.

5. Chigogafuchi

The last place I visited was Chigogafuchi.
It's a natural rock formation located on the western tip of Enoshima Island,
said to have been sculpted by waves over a long period.
📍 Chigogafuchi Scenic Spot
2-chōme-5-2 Enoshima, Fujisawa, Kanagawa 251-0036 Japan
The coastal promenade here is wonderfully maintained,
making it perfect for a leisurely stroll,
and I even saw people fishing~!

I heard you can take a boat back from here,
but it was closed on the day I went,
so I ended up walking back.
If you're planning to take a boat from here, please make sure to check the operating hours.
Enoshima Travel Tips |
Hey everyone, if you go to Enoshima...?
Japan is famous for gacha (capsule toys),
but I had no idea there were gacha vending machines too...??? LOL
It's 130 yen, and you get a random drink
from the selection sold in that vending machine.
The chance of 'failure' (getting something you don't like) is pretty low, so give it a try!

Enoshima Must-Try Eatery |

I just happened to stumble into this place when I was hungry,
and while enjoying the ocean view,
I had a pork cutlet curry for 1200 yen!!
The price was affordable, the ocean view was amazing,
and the portion size was super generous...
Plus, it wasn't crowded at all, so I got in without any waiting!!
Enoshima Half-Day Independent Trip - Overall Review
For this Tokyo side trip to Kamakura & Enoshima,
I spent half a day on Enoshima on the second day.
Starting from the shopping street, I visited Enoshima Shrine and the Sea Candle,
After exploring Lovers' Hill and grabbing lunch,
we also visited Uomitei and Daikoku's Nose.
It was perfect for shrine and street sightseeing, enjoying ocean views, and snapping some beautiful, atmospheric photos!
If you're planning a trip to Kamakura,
I highly recommend visiting Enoshima too.
