One of the must-visit areas during your Sydney trip is

**North Sydney**.

We spent a night in North Sydney,

which gave us the perfect chance to explore the area at a relaxed pace.

However, we noticed that most restaurants near North Sydney tended to have

higher prices,

and we weren't looking to break the bank for every meal.

So today, for those of you who, like us, are seeking a fantastic **value-for-money dining experience**, we're excited to introduce you to

the **Thai restaurant,

Doodee King**!

Doodee King is open every day, with no closing days,

from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

You'll find it conveniently located right near Victoria Cross Station.

If you head down the alley just before entering the Metro station,

you'll easily spot it!

It's on the first floor of a commercial building,

so just walk straight in.

Atmosphere & Menu

The interior was actually much more spacious than it looked from the outside.

However, we decided not to dine in;

instead, we opted for takeout so we could enjoy our meal back at our accommodation

while watching the sunset.

Doodee King's menu turned out to be incredibly diverse!

With options like noodles, rice dishes, stir-fried noodles, fried rice, curries,

salads, grilled items, and soups, the selection was

so wide, which was fantastic.

Here's what we ordered:

For two dishes, one noodle and one rice,

the bill came out to about ~$28.

Pad See Ew (Beef) $20.90

Soft boiled rice with BBQ (Jumbo) $18.90

Total including tax $40.40 (approximately ~$28)

While it might seem a bit pricier compared to Thai places in downtown Sydney,

for the North Sydney area, it was actually quite affordable!

Just imagining eating our takeout while enjoying the view from our accommodation already put me in a great mood even before the first bite.

We also picked up a beer from a nearby supermarket to enjoy with our meal.

Here are the **Pad See Ew and BBQ Rice** I brought back!

I've had Pad See Ew in other places, but this was my first time trying BBQ Rice, so I was quite excited.

**Soft boiled rice with BBQ Pork**

This dish is a hearty bowl of rice, meatballs, and meat, all served with a warm soup broth.

The meat had a texture similar to Korea's 'Suyuk' (boiled pork slices), but with a slight exotic aroma.

The broth was surprisingly sweet and sour, definitely giving off that authentic Southeast Asian Thai food vibe. I initially wondered if a sweet and sour broth would go well with rice, but it was actually better than I expected.

However, the broth's flavor might be a hit or miss for some.

(Personally, I probably wouldn't order it again.)

Next up is the **Pad See Ew**.

The portion size was more generous than I expected, making it feel worth around ~$14. However, since it was takeout, the noodles seemed a bit soggy, which was a minor disappointment.

The meat in the Pad See Ew itself was very substantial, and the ingredients looked fresh. Plus, the seasoning wasn't too strong, just right for my palate.

I imagine it would have tasted even better if we'd eaten it at the restaurant!
