Daimaru Besso Ryokan Review 2026: Rooms, Dinner & Family Prices
Planning a family ryokan trip near Fukuoka? We stayed at Daimaru Besso, just 30 minutes from the airport, covering rooms, dinner plans, and 6-person pricing for 2026.
Quick answer
Daimaru Besso is a ryokan about 30 minutes by car from Fukuoka Airport.
Rooms like Heian-tei or Rengyo-an accommodate up to 6 people.
Dinner (kaiseki) must be booked with a dinner-inclusive plan; it cannot be added later.
Standard dinner (Tenpai) costs ~$57 per person; higher tiers are available.
A 1-night stay for 6 adults with breakfast and dinner costs about ~$1070 via Trip.com.

When you try to book Daimaru Besso,
you'll find there are many **room types**, and
the **dinner (kaiseki) quality and reservation methods**
can be a bit confusing.
For my trip, my mom, older sister, aunt,
and cousins – a total of 6 of us –
stayed at **Heian-tei**
and enjoyed kaiseki (dinner).
We spent one night there,
and the onsen, ambiance, and hospitality were all so wonderful
that my mom and aunts said they had a fantastic time!

In this post,
I'll cover **room comparisons, dinner reservations and types, and a price comparison**, all based on my direct experience :)
01 Daimaru Besso Room Comparison
📌 Comparing Daimaru Besso Rooms
Room Type | Occupancy | Layout |
Heian-tei⭐️ | 1-6 people | 2 rooms + living room (74.4㎡) |
Rengyo-an⭐️ | 1-6 people | Detached Villa 3 rooms + living room (107.2㎡) |
Showa-tei | 1-3 people | 1 room + living room Horikotatsu (47.5㎡) |
Taisho-tei | - | Currently Closed |

If you have 6 people
and want to stay in the same room,
you'll need to choose between **Heian-tei** or **Rengyo-an**.
We stayed at **Heian-tei**, and since it has two rooms, we could separate the adults' room from ours, so it wasn't particularly inconvenient.

Rengyo-an is a detached villa, making it the most spacious, but it also has the highest price point!

The biggest reason we chose Heian-tei was this **Hinoki tub**.
It's deeper than it looks, and big enough for two people to enjoy comfortably.

However, while the in-room tub isn't an actual onsen (which is a minor regret), the main public bath features **real hot spring water!**
It's a huge space, about 100 pyeong (approx. 3,500 sq ft), with a truly spacious and open feel.

There are no bath towels in the main public bath, so remember to bring them from your room!

There are also onsen etiquette guidelines, so it's a good idea to read them before you go in~
Photography is prohibited in the main public bath, so I don't have any photos ㅠㅠ
Instead, I've attached a photo from their official website.

I didn't know this, but in 'Taxi Driver Season 3',
this very onsen public bath scene
featuring (Lee Je-hoon) appeared!
How cool is that!
⚠️
A popular onsen ryokan that sells out fast!
Enjoy an onsen experience within about 30 minutes by car from Fukuoka Airport/City Center ♨️

I searched for dates 2 months in advance, and
it was already **sold out...**
I guess it's because it's quite rare to find a traditional ryokan experience this close to Fukuoka,
which is probably why it gets booked up so fast!
02 How to Book Dinner at Daimaru Besso
For dinner, you need to book a
dinner-inclusive plan
from the start.
The ryokan advises that if you only book a room, you
won't be able to add meals later.
(This means no last-minute, same-day requests!)
Back in the day, finding Kaiseki plans on dinner reservation sites
was tricky, often requiring a direct call to the ryokan.
But good news! Now you can easily book a breakfast and dinner plan directly through Trip.com.
⏰
✔️ Dinner: 18:00~20:00
✔️ Breakfast: 7:00~8:30

Actual Dinner (Kaiseki) I Enjoyed
The most basic dinner course

On the menu I received, it was listed as
Kiyama (基山).
(Seriously, Kaiseki menus always have such beautifully intricate calligraphy – a work of art in itself!)

I was wondering what that watermelon-shaped item in the top-left picture was.
I thought, 'Wow, that's really adorable?!'
Turns out, it was Mentaiko (spicy pollack roe) – what a fun surprise! Haha!

We were also served
Dobin Mushi, a delightful soup with fish, mushrooms, and ginkgo nuts,
presented in an elegant earthenware teapot.
The service was simply wonderful, with a venerable elder attending to us,
elegantly dressed in a kimono.
That whole ambiance really made me feel like I had truly arrived at a traditional ryokan!
It was just perfect! 😊

And yes, Wagyu steak made an appearance too!
Trust me, even though each course looked delicately portioned,
by the end of this incredible Kaiseki feast, I was wonderfully, completely full!

To conclude this magnificent meal, we were treated to
black sugar Warabi Mochi and
a delightful mango pudding.
These certainly had that wonderful homemade dessert feel to them! So charming.

04. Price Comparison for 6 People Including Dinner
📌 Comparison Criteria
✔️ 1 night on a weekday in December
✔️ Based on 6 adults per room
✔️ Standard Japanese-Style Room
(Heian-tei Room)
(Standard Japanese-Style Room)
📌 Price Comparison
Site | Room Price | Check Current Price |
Agoda | ~$449 | |
Trip.com | ~$449 | |
Booking.com | ~$478 |
If you're just booking a room through Agoda or Trip.com,
Agoda was slightly cheaper for one night,
but honestly, it was only about a ~$0.08 difference, haha.
So, I think it's probably best to book through the site you use most often
and rack up those points!
However,
Agoda **doesn't offer plans that include both dinner and breakfast**,
so if you want to have dinner,
you might need to contact the ryokan separately.

Trip.com, on the other hand,
offered options for **breakfast-only or breakfast + dinner**.
🏷️ Trip.com Price Comparison by Plan
Category | Total for 6 people | Per person |
Room + Breakfast included | ~$692 | ~$115 |
Room + Breakfast/Dinner included | ~$1,070 | ~ $178 |
The total might seem large because there are many of us,
but the standard dinner price is **nearly ~$60** per person,
so it makes up a significant portion of the cost.
I think that's why the price looks high.
Besides the sites I compared above,
I also checked Yeogi Eottae (a Korean booking site),
but even with a discount code, it was more expensive, so I excluded it from the comparison table.

so the accessibility is truly fantastic!

going directly from the accommodation to Fukuoka Airport
was so convenient and stress-free, I loved it!

Honestly, I was a bit concerned because it had a slight issue in the past.
However, they publicly announced major management improvements afterward
and are actively working on them.
In a way, I think it might even be better
because they're likely paying extra attention to it due to the past issue.
And having actually visited,
my mom and aunts all loved it,
so it was a fantastic trip :)
