Earlier this year, in 2026, while I was preparing my move from Jeju Island to Sejong City, I decided to spend a night in Daejeon. As fate would have it, I stumbled upon a YouTube review of "Daejeon Bread Taxi" – a local bread delivery service – and Namu Sangja caught my eye. I knew I had to visit!

That day, instead of exploring Sejong, I decided to dedicate my time to Daejeon. I've always preferred savory, wholesome meal breads over overly sweet desserts.
Before my trip, I'd seen a feature on the "Jabsikman" YouTube channel about Namu Sangja Bakery Cafe, highlighting their exact style of bread. It was a no-brainer to make a stop there while in Daejeon.

The bakery is conveniently located close to both Galma Station and several bus stops, making it super easy to reach by public transport.

Since it's a renovated residential house, the atmosphere here is distinctly different from your typical chain cafes. It felt incredibly warm, cozy, and inviting. The interior also features seating areas where you can enjoy your bread with a drink, making it a perfect spot to take a break and relax.

Beyond just coffee, they offer a wide variety of beverages, including black tea and various juices, so there's something for everyone.

I visited around 3:30 PM on a weekend. To my surprise, the bread display wasn't as full as I expected – a clear sign of just how popular this spot is! If you're hoping to choose from a wider selection of their delicious meal breads, I'd definitely recommend arriving a bit earlier in the day.

After picking up three types of bread from Namu Sangja Bakery Cafe, I headed straight to Cheongju Airport. As soon as I arrived back home in Jeju, I sliced them into convenient portions and froze them for later. Even after enjoying them over several days, the texture held up beautifully, and I was incredibly satisfied with how light and easy they were to eat.

Cream Walnut Scone
This scone had a perfectly crisp exterior with a delightfully fluffy interior. It wasn't overly sweet, making it an excellent pairing for coffee or a glass of milk.

Wind-Kissed Fig Campagne
This campagne was generously packed with figs, offering a wonderful natural sweetness. It was perfectly sweet on its own, no need for jam! I warmed it slightly in an air fryer, which made the crust delightfully crispy and the inside incredibly soft – truly delicious.

Black Olive Ciabatta
Out of all the breads I brought home, this one was my absolute favorite! The perfect balance of savory and nutty – just superb! It was generously loaded with olives, giving it a fantastic aroma and flavor. Its wholesome taste made it an excellent substitute for a meal. If you're looking for a satisfying meal bread that you can enjoy guilt-free, even while watching your diet, this is the first one I'd recommend.

I often made simple open-faced sandwiches with it, topping it with eggs, avocado, and other ingredients. You can enjoy it like I did, thinly sliced for a delightful brunch, or cut it thicker to make a more traditional sandwich.
Pro Tip:
If you're hoping to snag a wider variety of their delicious breads, I highly recommend visiting earlier in the day, as popular items tend to sell out quickly after 3:00 PM.
