Nature Park Daegu Zoo with my brother, his wife,

and my adorable 5-year-old nephew.

It's incredibly famous as one of the best family-friendly spots in Daegu!

While we were enjoying a foodie tour downtown

and relaxing on a 5-star hotel staycation,

I planned this zoo trip specifically for my

animal-loving nephew. It turned out to be

the perfect addition to our Daegu getaway.

Getting to interact directly with cute animals

surrounded by lush, green nature made it

so obvious why this place is one of

Daegu's absolute must-visit attractions.

Today, I’m sharing our lively experience at Daegu Nature Park!

I'll cover everything from the location and booking tickets,

to the adorable animals (including a cute baby white lion!),

and some great tips on fun activities for kids.

1. Daegu Nature Park: Location & Booking

We took about a 20-minute drive

from downtown areas like Dongseong-ro and Banwoldang

to reach Nature Park Daegu Zoo.

This massive getaway destination actually spans a whole mountain,

complete with accommodations, a zoo, and a water park—

so the parking lot is absolutely huge.

Friendly staff at the entrance guided us

toward the parking tower and nearby spots.

They even have EV charging stations, so we could

top up our car and explore with peace of mind.

Instead of buying tickets on-site,

booking them online in advance is a much better deal!

At the time of my visit,

Klook offered the most reasonable online prices.

Since there's a pretty big difference compared to buying tickets on-site,

I highly recommend booking your tickets in advance.

As for the Interaction Kit,

it's a basket containing animal feed, a kid's snack, and a balloon animal headband.

Since it's packed with fun goodies, just getting one for your child

is more than enough.

The instructions state that the mobile tickets will be sent

via KakaoTalk within an hour of booking online,

but they actually arrived super fast!

You can also cancel for free before exchanging the voucher,

so there's zero pressure. Make sure to grab yours

well before you arrive!

Following the recommended path, we got to see the adorable baby white lions

and then headed over to enjoy the rainbow sled right next to them.

If you buy the tickets on-site,

it costs ~$6 per child,

but if you book online,

it's only ~$5 per child,

so definitely prepare ahead of time!

There is normally a separate admission fee for accompanying adults,

but when we visited,

adults accompanying children

were getting in for free, so keep that in mind!

2. Baby Lions Luca and Luna

Using the online tickets we bought beforehand,

we easily scanned them at the kiosk to get our entry passes and Interaction Kit

and walked right in.

Cute merchandise like baby white lion calendars, postcards, and photo cards

can also be purchased near the entrance.

The absolute star mascots of Nature Park,

one of the best places to visit in Daegu with kids,

are none other than

the white lion siblings, Luca and Luna,

born on August 18, 2025.

Their parents were rescued from the basement of another indoor zoo

where they had been locked up for a long time without proper care.

Thankfully, they were dramatically rescued and now live happily

in a spacious, green outdoor habitat here.

Seeing how much they groom and care for each other was so heartwarming.

Luca and Luna, the star attractions of Nature Park,

are currently taking some time to adapt

and beat the intense summer heat

before they officially move to their outdoor habitat.

It's their special settle-in period!

Right now, on the Wind Hill,

for just one hour a day (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM),

you can watch them finding shade under trees, sheltering from the rain,

and practicing their hunting, cognitive, and sensory skills.

It was absolutely adorable to watch!

3. A Wide Variety of Animals

Since this park is built on a mountain slope,

I was a bit worried my nephew would get too exhausted

in the sweltering afternoon heat of over 30°C (86°F).

Fortunately, there are indoor spaces sprinkled throughout the route

where we could cool off, grab snacks, and take breaks at the cafes.

He stayed full of energy the entire time, making it a truly

action-packed and rewarding zoo adventure.

We took plenty of gorgeous photos at the various photo spots

scattered along the walking trails...

Right at the entrance of the walking safari is an indoor zoo, where we met

the super cute capybaras and

ring-tailed lemurs, meerkats, and

African spurred tortoises (Sulcata tortoises).

Feeding is actually prohibited in this area,

but the cheeky lemurs might still sneak up to ask for carrots,

so keep an eye out!

We also explored the reptile pavilion, which features

all kinds of rare and unique creatures you don't see every day.

My nephew was absolutely thrilled to feed grass to

the adorable, squeaking guinea pigs

using the safety tongs.

Stepping back outside, we ran into peacocks

strolling leisurely along the paths.

Seeing the tiny peachicks waddle right behind their mama

was easily one of the cutest sights ever!

The park spans a massive 100 acres (approx. 120,000 pyeong), so it was so heartwarming

to see the animals enjoying

such a spacious and comfortable environment.

A family of gentle goats and wild mountain sheep

approached my nephew, looking for snacks

or maybe just wanting to play,

but he got so scared of their horns

that he burst into tears!

I felt a little bad, but as his aunt,

seeing him sob like that was just too cute to resist.

Near the end, you can purchase extra feed,

so we had fun feeding the sheep.

It's truly a must-visit spot in Daegu

where even adults can make precious memories.

4. Wrapping Up Our Visit to One of Daegu’s Best Attractions

Surrounded by lush, green nature,

Daegu Nature Park is a place where both kids and adults can heal

by bonding with all the sweet animals.

Even though my little nephew burst into tears

when the over-enthusiastic goats came close,

seeing the baby peacocks, meeting Lucca and Luna,

and racing down the rainbow slide made it clear

why this place is so highly recommended

for families visiting Daegu!

Despite the summer heat, the indoor areas of this Daegu zoo

were so well-maintained and air-conditioned that

we were able to enjoy our entire visit without getting exhausted.

There's a significant price difference between buying tickets on-site versus online,

so be sure to grab your tickets online in advance

to enjoy Daegu Nature Park

on a budget!
