Da Nang Private Car Rental Review 2026: Ba Na Hills & Hoi An
Planning a family trip to Da Nang? Discover why renting a private car with a driver is the ultimate hack for visiting Ba Na Hills and Hoi An stress-free.

Da Nang Private Car with Driver Review
Honest Experience: Full-Day 16-Seater Minivan
Da Nang is much more spread out than you might think.
While everything looks close on a map,
traveling between major spots like Ba Na Hills, My Khe Beach, and Hoi An
can seriously drain your energy.
That's exactly why for our recent trip,
we booked a private car with a driver in Da Nang.

Spoiler alert: If you're traveling as a family, a couple, or a group,
this is an absolute must-have.
Especially if you're planning an independent trip to Da Nang,
it completely eliminates the stress of driving,
figuring out routes,
and exhausting yourself in the heat.
It's definitely worth considering.
Since you're splitting the cost among several people,
it ends up being surprisingly affordable,
and the convenience alone saves so much physical energy.

1. Booking

When booking a private car in Da Nang,
you can choose a vehicle based on your group size.
Compact Car (4-seater),
SUV (7-seater),
Minivan (16-seater)
There are three main options.
These are maximum capacities, so factoring in luggage and comfort,
I highly recommend a compact car for 2 people, an SUV for 3-4 people,
and a minivan for groups larger than that.

In our case, we were a group of 7,
so we went with the 16-seater minivan.
The price?
~$56 for a full 12-hour day!
At first glance, you might wonder if that's pricey,
but when you divide it by 7 people,
you're getting a private chauffeur all day
for just ~$8 per person!

I remember taking a Grab for a quick 15-minute ride
and it cost around ~$2, which surprised me.
For a full day of unlimited travel,
this is an absolute steal!

2. Flexible Itinerary

The biggest perk of renting a private car in Da Nang
is the complete freedom over your itinerary.
There's no fixed route;
you can go wherever you want within your booked time.
If you suddenly want to hit up a trendy cafe,
just tell your driver.
If your massage appointment gets pushed back,
you have the flexibility to adjust on the fly.

Group travel always comes with wildcards—
someone might feel under the weather,
or you might just need a break.
Having a private car makes navigating these hiccups so much easier.
Another great feature was the 24/7 English-friendly customer support.
If we needed to change our schedule or had questions,
we could get help instantly.

For example, we originally planned to eat breakfast at our hotel
and start our day a bit later.
But we found a local breakfast spot we just had to try,
messaged support, and they adjusted our pickup time immediately.

Plus, upgrading to the spacious minivan was a lifesaver.
Even with all our luggage, we had plenty of room.
We could easily fit several suitcases,
and in the sweltering Vietnam heat,
not being crammed together was a blessing.

Having our driver waiting for us at every stop
meant we never had to hail multiple Grabs.
Skipping the wait on hot, humid streets
was a game-changer.

There are plenty of rental companies,
but we went with the same company we used in Phu Quoc.
Their reliability is top-notch.
Both in terms of price and service,
we were thoroughly impressed again.
3. Our Route

Most Da Nang itineraries hit the same major highlights.
1. Ba Na Hills
2. Hoi An
3. My Khe Beach
We tackled Ba Na Hills first thing in the morning.
It's about a 40-minute drive from the city center.

When you factor in the cable car wait times,
it takes up a massive chunk of your day.
Stepping back into our air-conditioned 16-seater minivan
after hiking around the hills felt like absolute heaven.

Afterward, we headed back to the city for lunch,
and in the evening, we made our way to Hoi An.
Even staying late to catch the magical lantern-lit night views in Hoi An
was stress-free knowing our driver was waiting.

The hardest part of group travel is usually logistics,
but booking this private car
saved our sanity and our feet.
We even did a quick pit stop at My Khe Beach
since it was close to our hotel.
Having the car for the full day made spontaneous detours a breeze.
4. Guided Tours

If a fully DIY itinerary feels overwhelming, guided Da Nang tours are a great alternative!
You can book standalone Ba Na Hills tours,
or combo packages that bundle
Ba Na Hills and Hoi An into a single day.
These usually include hotel pickup and an English-speaking guide
who shares local history along the way,
which makes them perfect if you're traveling with parents.

Da Nang is the perfect blend of a resort town and a cultural hub.
But that means efficient transportation is key.
Especially if you're traveling with a group,
I can't recommend booking a private car with a driver enough!
