It seems most people don't stay in Da Lat for as long as I did – 5 nights and 6 days!
They usually swing by for a short visit, perhaps a day trip to Da Lat from Nha Trang,
or they're here for a month-long stay in Da Lat.
(Oh, to live abroad for a month... *sigh*
It's just a dream for a regular office worker like me...)
But here's where a little dilemma crops up:
Usually, when folks visit Da Lat, they're looking for that relaxing, resort-style escape,
so they tend to stay at a resort.
The catch? Resorts are typically a bit removed from Da Lat's vibrant city center...
So, if it's your first time exploring Da Lat,
instead of simply unwinding at a resort,
you'd actually have to make a dedicated effort to head into the city center.
(Of course, if you're not inclined to explore, that's perfectly fine,
but if you're like, 'I've come all this way, I really should see it!' then this applies!)
I had a bit of flexibility in my schedule, so...
I split my Da Lat accommodation: 3 nights in the city center and 2 nights at a resort.
By strategically booking my 3 city nights at the start of the trip,
by the time I got to the resort,
I had no lingering regrets about missing out on the city,
allowing me to truly unwind and relax there.
I'd say that was a pretty solid strategy, if I do say so myself! 😉
(Though, full disclosure, there was *such* a delicious pub in the city
that I kept thinking about it even while at the resort, and, well, I ended up heading out one more time LOL!)
So, among the many accommodations in Da Lat's city center, I want to introduce you to a place that had a truly great vibe.
Since Da Lat is also a popular getaway for Vietnamese locals,
you'll find hotels packed tightly together in the city, almost like dormitories. (Just like you can see above!)
And this place? It's kind of a hidden gem (lol) among them!

Right from the entrance, it's got *all* the vibes. LOL!
The building isn't huge.
It has a slightly tall and narrow feel to it. (Is that a Da Lat building characteristic, perhaps?)
First things first, let's talk check-in.
They gave us welcome drinks in bottles – how cute! LOL!
But actually, I didn't get these on the day I checked in,
I received them the next morning.
They mentioned it was an oversight on my check-in day...
It seems there's a pretty clear reason why this might happen.
The person at the front desk in the evening,
seems to be a local who mostly just keeps an eye on the desk.
They don't speak English at all.
It's tough to get answers even if you try asking something.
If it's something urgent, a translation app works fine for questions.
I actually did that myself!
Conversely, the staff member present in the mornings and during the day
can speak English.
This is probably because they handle breakfast, as well as check-ins and check-outs.
That's why the welcome drink
was given to me by the English-speaking staff member in the morning.
It also looked like they had a yoga program.
I wasn't particularly interested at the time, so I didn't ask for details.
(Funnily enough, I ended up joining the yoga program at the *next* resort I stayed at – classic me! LOL!)
Initially, I couldn't spot the elevator...
Hmm.
Was I going to have to haul my suitcase up those stairs...?
I was just thinking that when,
BAM! It was right next to the desk. LOL!
A room with a super clean vibe.
Pinecones adorning the towels.
More pinecones on these towels too! LOL!
There's also a terrace.
But there's no view to speak of.
So, I didn't end up using it.
This is the bathroom & shower.
There's even a bathtub.
Overall, the vibe is really good.
To the point where it feels quite unique,
it has a distinct character and I really liked it compared to other hotels in the area.
However, there was one downside...
And that was the noise.
It's construction noise, as they're building something in the empty lot out front! 😂
So, it's not a permanent drawback...
it's a temporary one.
I don't know the exact construction period,
but until it's finished, this will be the main downside of this Da Lat accommodation.
I kept wondering, 'What's that noise?' and it turned out to be construction! 😂
Even the terrace view is a construction site view! 😂
Depending on what gets built there,
the terrace view will change! 😂
Next up, breakfast.
Breakfast is pretty good. It's clean and tidy.
I wondered if the basement was the restaurant,
but there isn't a separate dining area.
(I didn't know this at the time, but found out while doing extra research for this post...
the basement was actually a dormitory.
I was curious what else the basement could be if it wasn't the restaurant! 😂)
You just eat in the lobby,
and everything is simple (no special cooking required).
But it's served quite nicely and looks pretty! 😂
You can choose from 3 menu options.
First up, yogurt with nuts.
Drinks are also chosen separately; there were a few types of juice and coffee.
My first breakfast was orange juice and yogurt.
For my second breakfast,
I had waffles with fruit.
The one on top is honey, the one below is chocolate.
My drink was coffee.
They brew it freshly for you to enjoy.
Oh, and that main gate to the Da Lat accommodation visible in the back also has a great vibe! 😂
The food is decent,
but the only slight drawback is the small portion size! 😂
Well, it's breakfast, so it's not a huge deal.
If you want a bigger portion, you can choose the toast menu! 😂
This was the menu my friend chose,
and compared to other dishes, the portion was seriously generous, lol!
I guess it's because this one didn't come with any sides,
just the bread, haha.
You can choose your jam.
They have peanut butter and... other jams too.
On the last day, I had this combo of yogurt + orange juice one more time, haha!
After breakfast, I went up to check out the yoga spot too.
Oh... it's quite nice, isn't it?
Looking at the photos now as I'm writing this post,
it makes me wish I'd actually tried it out.
This is what the Da Lat accommodation looks like from the outside.
The building isn't very wide, so you might just walk right past it.
If you're looking for something with a bit more character,
instead of those hotels crammed together in the city center,
this isn't a bad choice.
(Assuming construction has finished or you're not sensitive to noise).

Staff working in the morning and during the day can communicate in English. In the evening, there are local staff who do not speak English at all, so it's best to use a translator if you have an urgent matter. The welcome drink is also handled by English-speaking staff.
There is ongoing construction in the empty lot in front of the accommodation, so the terrace view is of a construction site, and noise from the construction will occur. This drawback is expected to be temporary, lasting until the construction is completed.
Breakfast is served in the lobby, and you can choose from three menu options: nut yogurt, fruit waffle, and toast. If you find the portion size to be small, selecting the toast menu, which comes with just bread and no sides, offers a larger quantity compared to the other options.
This accommodation is located in the city center and has a tall, elongated feel to its building. Unlike the crowded appearance of surrounding hotels, The Note Dalat is highly regarded as a unique and distinctive place.
