do you ever find yourself struggling with this exact question?

Is there a budget-friendly hotel in a killer location?"
I was searching for those exact same conditions when I found and stayed at the Cosmos Hotel.

there is a crystal-clear reason why it's always at the top of Taipei hotel recommendations.

🚨 Today's Travel Diary
This is a 100% honest, self-funded review after my personal stay. (As of April 2026)
Cosmos Hotel Taipei is a 5-star hotel located right outside Taipei Main Station Exit M3. It is a highly recommended, budget-friendly accommodation for on-the-foot travelers who prioritize an unbeatable location and price over ultra-modern facilities.

⭐️ Today's Travel Difficulty ★☆☆
A prime station-front Taipei hotel you could find with your eyes closed!
Since it's right in front of Taipei Station Exit M3,
the location is so foolproof that even those with zero sense of direction won't get lost.

1. Why I Chose Cosmos Hotel Taipei & Basic Info

In Taipei, if you pick the wrong location for your accommodation, you'll easily waste an hour every day transferring on the MRT and walking.
When you factor in the taxi rides back from the night markets in the evening,
any money you saved on a cheaper room quickly disappears.

That's why I absolutely insisted on staying right in front of the station,
and Cosmos Hotel fit that bill perfectly.
On top of that, it's just 40 minutes from Taoyuan Airport,
making the location absolutely unbeatable!
You can drop your bags and start exploring the moment you arrive.

📍 Location: Right outside Taipei Main Station, Exit M3
✔️ Check-in: 3:00 PM
✔️ Check-out: 12:00 PM
Luggage storage available
Breakfast included
Rate: Around ~$70 per night (including breakfast)
🚨 Quick Travel Tip! |
When you take the Airport MRT and get off at Taipei Station, make sure to head straight for Exit M3. If you take the wrong exit, you'll end up dragging your suitcase around in circles for ages! |
2. Honest Review of the Cosmos Hotel Rooms

To be completely honest, my very first thought upon opening the door was,
"Ah, this doesn't really feel like a 5-star hotel..."
Since the building is a bit older, the decor had a classic vibe,
and the room wasn't exactly spacious.
It was just about big enough to open two suitcases.
But after sleeping there for a night, my mind completely changed.

✔️ The bedding was spotlessly clean,
✔️ Despite it being an older hotel, there wasn't a single bug in sight,
✔️ and both the soundproofing and air conditioning worked perfectly.

Even though the space was on the cozier side,
having a luggage rack kept things organized and easy to move around.
Plus, the bed itself was way larger than a standard king-size, making for an incredibly comfortable sleep.
While it is an older-style Taipei hotel,
it was more than comfortable enough in terms of both location and cleanliness.

And since my itinerary had me out of the hotel first thing in the morning and back late at night,
I didn't really find any issues with it at all.
3. Tips for Booking Taipei Hotels at the Best Rates

Finding a room in this location for around ~$70 per night, breakfast included,
is a rate that's incredibly hard to find among 5-star hotels in Taipei.
✅ Price per night as of July 2026 (Breakfast included)
Free cancellation available!
Agoda | ~$84 |
Trip.com | ~$92 |
Klook | ~$88 |
Honestly, the price difference among these three isn't huge,
so you can just book through whichever platform you use most often.
At the time, Klook offered the lowest rate, so I booked through them
and used a promo code to get an extra discount.

2️⃣ Check Lowest Prices on Agoda
3️⃣ Check Prices for Your Dates on Trip.com
But looking at it now, Agoda actually seems a bit cheaper!
Hotel rates constantly fluctuate depending on the season and timing, so it's always smart to compare all three before booking!

Since it's such a budget-friendly hotel right in front of Taipei Station, it books up super fast for weekends and holidays!
Once your travel dates are locked in, I highly recommend securing your room early with a free cancellation option!
4. Cosmos Hotel Breakfast Review

✅ Cosmos Hotel Breakfast Hours: 07:00 - 10:00
To be honest, since it's a value-focused hotel, the breakfast spread wasn't incredibly massive.
However, it definitely had all the essentials covered.

Fruits like guava, oranges, and grapefruit,
a great variety of spoonable yogurts,
an egg station,
and even a live noodle station—it had everything you'd expect.

The food tasted decent, making it the perfect hassle-free breakfast to kickstart your day of exploring.
🚨 Quick Travel Tip Here ! |
The breakfast hall itself isn't huge, so it gets pretty crowded between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. I highly recommend heading down before 8:00 AM if you can!! |
5. Things That Could Be Better

Since this is an honest review, I'll share my experience raw and unfiltered.
If you're expecting a brand-new, ultra-modern luxury experience, you might be disappointed.
The rooms aren't super spacious either.
That said, even though the building is on the older side, it was absolutely spotless with zero bugs.

The absolute best parts were the price and the location!
Those two features were seriously top-tier.
Breakfast included for around ~$64.
On top of that, being right in front of Taipei Station
made it incredibly convenient to get to nearby Ximending or the night markets.
Fun fact: the meeting point for the Yehliu, Shifen, and Jiufen day tours is also right here in front of Taipei Station!~

On the first floor, there's a convenience store and a souvenir shop,
making it super easy to grab snacks and gifts. Plus, with several massage shops nearby,
I loved wrapping up my evenings with a relaxing foot massage.

These fantastic perks completely outweighed any minor drawbacks for me.
If anyone asks me for a budget-friendly hotel recommendation in Taipei,
I would hands-down recommend the Cosmos Hotel again and again.

So, here is a quick breakdown for different travel styles! 👇
✔️ First time in Taipei + exploring on foot → Cosmos is a total no-brainer!
✔️ Traveling with parents & wanting to minimize walking → The location right in front of the station is absolutely perfect.
✔️ Just need a place to sleep and focusing entirely on sightseeing → Save on accommodation and spend that budget on amazing local food instead!
❌ Looking for a staycation or swimming pool vibes → You might want to look at other hotels.
6. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
