My Philippines Coron Adventure to See Dugongs
It was the rainy season, so it poured quite a bit,
and my friend who came along wasn't feeling well.
Because of this, we couldn't explore the beaches much and mostly stayed at our accommodation.
Coron's town is much smaller than Bohol's,
and honestly, there's not much to do besides swimming!
If you're dreaming of a trip truly packed with swimming and diving,
then Coron is absolutely for you!
Anyway, during my Coron trip to the Philippines,
I stayed at two different places.
I'll start by sharing my review of Westown Resort,
where we stayed last.
First things first, for our Coron accommodation at Westown Resort,
we stayed for about ~$66 per night on a weekend.
(Breakfast included)

Its location is a bit removed from Coron Town, towards the right.
From Coron Town to Westown Resort,
it seemed to take about 10 minutes by tricycle.
The fare was 40-50 pesos per person for a one-way trip.
When leaving the resort, it seemed like the drivers were colluding, as everyone charged 50 pesos.
But when coming from town, 40 pesos was also possible,
so I definitely recommend trying to haggle for a lower price!

Westown Resort in Coron truly feels like a substantial resort;
the lobby alone was impressively big and inviting!
Having stayed at a smaller place first,
this one felt even more expansive!
Check-in is at 2 PM, and check-out is at 12 PM,
which offered a wonderfully relaxed schedule.
Coron Accommodation: Deluxe Room

The room I stayed in this time was the most basic —
a Deluxe Room without a balcony. Honestly, I questioned if a balcony room was even worth it here!
There wasn't much of a view to enjoy from one,
so unless you're getting a room with direct pool access,
you probably don't need to opt for a balcony.

The room, at 34 square meters, was delightfully large and spacious,
with plenty of room even after spreading out our suitcases. I absolutely loved the big bed and the comfy sofa!
The air conditioner, though seemingly small, was surprisingly powerful and kept the room perfectly cool.
Plus, there was a big TV, which was fantastic for unwinding with Netflix or YouTube.

There were power outlets on both sides of the bed, which was super convenient!
We could easily use our own chargers and devices from home without any hassle.

That comfy sofa pretty much ended up as my dedicated spot for hanging clothes!

The bathroom, while not having a bathtub, was still wonderfully spacious and pleasant.
Amenities included toothpaste, toothbrushes, and body wash, among others,
but I brought my own, so I didn't actually use theirs.

The water pressure was a tad on the weaker side, which was a minor point.
And I'm still trying to figure out the bathroom's design—
The drain was quite high, so the water didn't naturally
flow out.
This was a minor inconvenience.
I replaced the showerhead with a
shower filter I brought from Korea.
The filter turned black so quickly that
I was really glad I packed it!
When traveling to Coron, a shower filter is an absolute must-have!!

Since it's a bit far from Coron town,
my phone reception was completely nonexistent, so
I had to rely solely on the hotel Wi-Fi.
Luckily, the Wi-Fi was fast, so it wasn't an issue at all!

Westown Resort's Pools

The main reason I chose Westown Resort
for my Philippine Coron trip was definitely
the incredible pools!
When I heard they had a 3-meter deep pool,
I knew I just had to check it out!

Westown Resort boasts a total of four swimming pools,
and one of them dives down to an impressive 3 meters!
The other pools range from 1.5 meters and also include shallower areas perfect for kids,
offering plenty of variety for families to
have a fantastic time together.
I absolutely loved practicing my diving
to my heart's content in the 3-meter deep pool!

Here's a glimpse of the other pools at night.
It seemed like Coron, Philippines, wasn't overflowing with tourists,
as there were quite a few empty rooms.
Coron Resort Amenities
As a resort, Westown Resort was quite
well-equipped with amenities.
First off, there was a compact gym on the 3rd floor,
along with a restaurant and a cafe.

La Mesa Restaurant, conveniently located right next to the pool,
served up Filipino dishes, and also
pizza and burgers.
It's not a culinary hotspot, though…
pretty typical for most restaurants in the Philippines.
But since it's quite a distance from the town center,
and I was too lazy to go out again, I ended up eating there.
If you have the time and energy,
I'd definitely recommend venturing out for your meals!

The breakfast restaurant is located on the ground floor.
While the breakfast buffet didn't boast a huge variety,
it was perfect for a quick and easy start to the day.
(Though not particularly outstanding in taste)
So, that's my honest review of Westown Resort,
my accommodation during my Philippine Coron adventure!
Since it has both its pros and cons,
I hope this helps you make a well-informed decision when booking your stay.
