Planning an upcoming getaway
to Shanghai?
If it's your first time visiting Shanghai,
figuring out where to stay and choosing the perfect hotel
can feel a bit overwhelming.
Today, drawing from my experience of visiting Shanghai multiple times,
I’m excited to introduce the Conrad Shanghai—
a 5-star hotel in the heart of the city that I highly recommend.
💡 I’ll also share some insider tips below on how to book it at the best rate,
so keep reading!

📌 Out of all the 5-star hotels in the city, here is
why I chose the Conrad Shanghai:
1. Great value compared to other 5-star properties
2. Prime location right in the heart of East Nanjing Road
3. Absolutely stunning views
First off, Conrad Shanghai offers incredibly reasonable rates
for a 5-star hotel.
Shanghai isn't exactly a cheap destination, so you can easily expect to pay
in the ~$320 range per night
for most of the newer 5-star hotels.
However, you can book the Conrad Shanghai
for around ~$192 to ~$256 per night!

On top of that, when traveling in Shanghai,
staying around East Nanjing Road is hands-down
the most convenient choice.
Conrad Shanghai is located right on East Nanjing Road,
meaning People's Square Station is just a 5-minute walk away,
and it’s surrounded by spots like the m&m's store, Miniso,
and countless amazing restaurants.
Lastly, you get to enjoy some breathtaking city views
at Conrad Shanghai.
Depending on your room type, you can even get a view
of The Bund and the Oriental Pearl Tower—it's absolutely magical!
How to Book at the Best Rate!
❗️Now, let me share my top tips for booking the Conrad Shanghai
without breaking the bank.

After comparing several booking platforms,
these two offered the absolute best rates:
Based on August Weekdays | Agoda | Trip.com |
Premium Room (1 Night) | ~$285 | ~$296 |
Premium Room (3 Nights) | ~$812 | ~$817 |
Rates may vary depending on the dates and room types,
so be sure to compare both links and book whichever is cheaper
to get the best deal!
Now, let’s dive right into my full review
of staying at the Conrad Shanghai.

When you arrive at Conrad Shanghai, you’ll need to take the elevator
from the ground floor up to the Lobby level (11th floor)
to find the check-in desk.
Here are the check-in and check-out times:
Check-in: From 15:00
Check-out: Before 12:00
The lobby can get quite busy during peak check-in hours,
so it might take a bit of time.
I recommend planning your arrival with a bit of extra time to spare!

If you arrive before the official check-in time,
they’ll gladly store your luggage for you, so you can start exploring hassle-free.
Similarly, even after you check out,
luggage storage is completely free!

Our booked Premier Room was Room 2914.
When using the elevator, simply tap your room key
on the sensor before selecting your floor.

Room 2914 was quietly tucked away right at the end of the hallway.

Measuring around 48 to 55 square meters (approx. 516 to 592 sq ft),
the Premier Room was incredibly spacious and comfortable compared to standard hotel rooms.
The space is thoughtfully laid out with a king bed, a work desk, a sofa, a bathroom,
and a dedicated closet area.

As you walk past the entryway down the short hallway,
you'll find the wardrobe and drawers.
Inside the wardrobe, they’ve provided comfy bathrobes, plenty of hangers, a safe,
an iron and ironing board, and even an umbrella.

With a massive floor-to-ceiling window right next to the king bed,
you can enjoy sweeping city views without even getting up.
The bed was exceptionally plush, perfectly melting away
all the muscle soreness and fatigue from our long days of travel.

From Room 2914, we looked out directly onto the Shinsegae Department Store and
People's Park.
Just staring at the lush, green canopy of trees over at People's Park
felt so incredibly peaceful and healing..!
Having the vibrant city laid out so clearly in front of us
was absolutely refreshing and breathtaking.

Along the wall, there is a desk and chair setup, alongside
a coffee machine, electric kettle, bottled water, teacups,
wine glasses, and tumblers.
The desk and chair made it super convenient
to set up a laptop and get a bit of work done.

A minibar, snacks, coffee capsules,
and tea bags are also neatly displayed.
Just keep in mind that the snacks and the drinks
inside the fridge come with an extra charge!
(As a side note, the minibar prices weren’t
overly expensive, so they were totally worth enjoying!)
The coffee capsules are completely free, and they replenish them if you stay multiple nights,
which made waking up to a fresh morning brew absolutely wonderful.
The Bathroom

The bathroom in the Premier Room was impressively spacious and pristine.
It featured a soaking tub, a separate shower booth, a vanity, and a toilet area.
It had a beautifully clean and luxurious feel to it.

Inside the shower booth, you'll find a non-slip mat,
shampoo, conditioner, and body wash all ready for you.
The water pressure was just right,
so I could enjoy a super refreshing and comfortable shower!

The bathroom amenities included toothbrushes, toothpaste, a comb, cotton pads,
a hairdryer, and cozy slippers for you to use.
Since personal facial cleansers aren't provided, I'd highly recommend
bringing your own cleansing oil or foam cleanser.

Another major highlight of this bathroom is that
you can actually see the Oriental Pearl Tower view right from the bathtub!
As you enjoy a warm soak, you can gaze out at the bustling streets stretching from East Nanjing Road to the Bund,
all with the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower as your backdrop. It's the ultimate way to feel those romantic travel vibes.
Oriental Pearl Tower View

Last but definitely not least, let's talk about one of the main reasons I booked this room:
that incredible Oriental Pearl Tower view!
Right behind the cozy sofa and table set by the window,
you get a stunning, postcard-perfect view of Shanghai's East Nanjing Road
and the dazzling Oriental Pearl Tower!

The view of East Nanjing Road with the Pearl Tower in the background
is absolutely breathtaking, both day and night.
Sitting on the sofa, sipping a cold beer and eating some local takeout with this view right in front of me...
honestly, it was pure bliss!
When you're staying at a 5-star hotel, you absolutely can't skip out on
the hotel amenities.
Next up, let me show you around the main facilities: the indoor pool and
the fitness center!

You can access both the pool and gym
by taking the stairs down from the Lobby (L Floor)
to the 10th floor.
The fitness center is open 24/7,
and the swimming pool is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

The fitness center is fully loaded with almost any workout equipment you'd need,
and it's spacious enough to get a great workout in.
Rather than just a leisure pool, the swimming pool is designed with lanes
so you can actually swim proper laps.
If you plan to make use of these facilities, don't forget to pack your workout gear
or swimsuit!
If you're looking for a luxurious, top-tier
5-star hotel for your Shanghai getaway,
don't hesitate to book the Conrad Shanghai!
Located right in the heart of East Nanjing Road,
it offers incredible accessibility to amazing restaurants, subway stations, and must-see attractions.
Plus, with the breathtaking views right from your room and the fabulous amenities to enjoy,
it's the perfect spot for a satisfying "staycation" style trip!
Be sure to check out the budget-friendly booking tips I shared earlier
to grab yourself a great deal!
