My stay at the Conrad Shanghai in late July 2025!
Since I was returning to Shanghai just two weeks after my last visit,
choosing the right place to stay wasn't easy.
But I found the perfect spot that ticked all three boxes:
the "Conrad Shanghai"!

If you head out of Exit 14 of People's Square Station
and turn left right at this flower-draped hotel,
you'll see the Conrad.
This hotel also looked quite charming and historic, worth checking out another time!
Cross the intersection, and the Conrad Shanghai comes into view like this.
(Quick tip: Exit 14 is close to the hotel, but it only has stairs.
If you have heavy luggage, I wouldn't highly recommend it... haha!)
This street, just a block or two away from People's Square,
actually has a much better, cooler vibe.
1st Floor Lobby
The first floor houses a café and
mainly serves as the concierge desk for luggage storage after checkout.
If you order food delivery,
you can pick it up directly from the outdoor delivery lockers just past the luggage storage area
or meet the driver nearby.
For check-in, you'll need to head up to the 11th floor.
If you look a little lost at first, the helpful staff on the 1st floor will guide you straight to the elevators.
But don't worry—all elevators on the 1st floor
automatically stop at the 11th floor anyway,
so you can just hop on whichever one arrives first.
Vibing with that rich, classic Chinese aesthetic.
Check-in
11F, Check-in: 3:00 PM onwards / Check-out: 12:00 PM
Walk past the restaurant to reach the check-in counters.
There were plenty of staff members, but...
it took a little while because they were busy training (and slightly scolding... haha) a new hire.
Please don't be too hard on them right in front of guests~
I felt like I was the one getting scolded! 😂
They didn't require a security deposit.
Since it's part of the Hilton family, don't forget to earn your Hilton Honors points!

To get to floors 20 to 43, you must take the green elevator line.
You'll get used to it after a few rides,
and there is elevator staff on duty during peak hours,
so feel free to ask if you get confused.

Deluxe King Room with Oriental Pearl Tower View
Room 3516, Booked for 3 Guests (with an Extra Bed)
Da-da-da-da~ 🎶 A city view that instantly makes you hum with excitement!
You get a panoramic, bird's-eye view of Lujiazui and Nanjing Road!
I had to hop on my laptop to take care of a quick task,
and this view honestly made me feel so successful haha.
It was so stunning that I felt completely satisfied without even stepping foot in People's Square or Lujiazui.
(That's how good the view was!)
(Though the Wi-Fi was a bit too sluggish for heavy laptop work...)
I heard that the rooms on the opposite side look out over the New World Department Store
and People's Square,
so you might want to keep that in mind as an option when booking!
Deluxe Room, King Bed (High Floor)
Room 3516, Extra Bed, Non-smoking
We booked for 3 people,
and even though we didn't make a special request,
they assigned us a room with an extra bed already set up.
The extra bed wasn't too bad,
but it did have a bit of a bouncy, pudding-like jiggle to it...
The interior was a perfect blend of traditional and modern vibes—completely my style.
The king bed was incredibly plush yet supportive,
and they provided both down pillows and memory foam pillows.
Seriously, that memory foam pillow was an absolute dream for getting a good night's sleep.
Apparently, there's a whole pillow menu with even more options,
so feel free to take advantage of that during your stay!
Coffee capsules and bottled water are generously provided,
while the drinks and snacks in the minibar come with a charge.
I absolutely loved the elegant tea set.
Luggage space #1 and disposable slippers.
Of course, the slippers are replaced daily.
If you open the cabinet near the entrance, you'll find luggage space #2,
along with the closet, safe, and umbrellas.
Having two separate spots to place our suitcases
turned out to be incredibly convenient during our stay.
The sofa and small table came in handy for late-night snacking.
The power outlets are multi-compatible, so you can use your devices without any adapters.
Bathroom
As soon as you step into the room,
you'll find the bathtub and bathroom layout on your left.
It's stocked with water glasses, extra bottled water, Byredo soap,
body lotion, and toiletries.
The scent for everything is Mojave Ghost.
The hair dryer is from a Chinese brand called BOWEI,
but it actually worked surprisingly well.
A very spacious bathroom.
The bath area features a large soaking tub and a separate shower stall,
and you can frost the glass door for privacy.
However, if you stand near the glass, your silhouette
might be quite visible, so keep that in mind if you're sharing the room with someone you aren't completely close with yet!

I didn't expect much, but it was actually delicious.
Once again, the day and night views here are absolutely stunning.
During the summer season, the Bund lights turn off at 10:00 PM,
and the Oriental Pearl Tower turns off at 10:30 PM.
If you want to enjoy the night view from your room, don't wait too late!
Heading to the Pool & Gym
11F, Pool Hours:
To get to both the pool and the gym,
you first need to get off on the 11th floor
and then head down one flight of stairs.
Follow the stairs past the Asador restaurant
down to the 10th floor, where you'll find the reception desk.
You can enter after scanning your room key and registering,
and they'll ask if you need a locker key (you probably will!).
They even have shared amenities like eye drops
available for you to use if needed.
(I tried my best not to use them,
but my eyes were so dry I ended up using them anyway! haha)
You can change your clothes here
in the men's/women's locker and shower room.
The locker room is quite clean,
but the shower facility is very outdated.
Think stuck shower doors, detached hoses, or lights that won't turn on... haha ^^;
It might be a better idea to just do a quick rinse and shower properly back in your room.
After changing, head back out and walk up the stairs
in the opposite direction to find the pool and fitness center.
I couldn't take photos inside,
but the gym is fully equipped with TechnoGym machines,
and it looked amazing to work out while staring at the Oriental Pearl Tower.
The pool is designed more for serious laps
rather than just splashing around.
*Swim caps are mandatory!*
The Surrounding Area
The hotel is located right on Nanjing Road,
and the building itself houses an M&M's World and Sephora.
The connected shopping mall features popular spots like Yeren Xiansheng (Gelato), HEYTEA, Lelecha, and Jiang Bian Cheng Wai (grilled fish),
making it super convenient since it's packed with places
that international travelers love to visit.
However, the downside is...
getting in and out of taxis can be quite a headache.
Especially during rush hour,
you can easily waste over 10 minutes
just trying to loop around right in front of the hotel.
If possible, it's much better to get dropped off or picked up
near a landmark like the New World Department Store instead.

Check-in at the Conrad Shanghai is on the 11th floor, not the 1st floor. Check-in time starts at 3:00 PM, and check-out is until 12:00 PM.
Exit 14 is the closest to the hotel, but it only has stairs. Therefore, it is not recommended for travelers carrying heavy luggage.
During the summer season, the lights at the Bund are turned off at 10:00 PM. The Oriental Pearl Tower turns off its lights at 10:30 PM, so it is best to enjoy the night view before it gets too late.
Wearing a swimming cap is mandatory to enter the pool. The pool's shower facilities are quite old, with issues like doors that won't close or detached shower hoses, so it is highly recommended to return to your room to shower.
During rush hours, traffic right in front of the hotel is heavily congested, making it very inconvenient to get in or out of a taxi. To save time, it is recommended to get dropped off or picked up at the nearby New World Department Store instead of directly in front of the hotel.
