✔ 5-Star Luxury Experience
✔ Prime Location near People's Square
✔ Iconic Views of the Oriental Pearl Tower
If you are planning a trip to Shanghai, finding the perfect base can be overwhelming. During my stay in late July 2025, I wanted a place that balanced luxury, convenience, and those postcard-perfect views. The Conrad Shanghai checked every single box perfectly.

Taking Exit 14 of People's Square Station, you'll walk past a historic, flower-draped building. Hang a left, and the towering Conrad comes into view.

Just cross the intersection and you're there. (Pro-tip: Exit 14 has only stairs, so if you are carrying heavy luggage, you might want to look for an escalator-accessible exit instead!)

Being a block or two away from the main hustle of People's Square actually gives this street a much cooler, local vibe.
The Ground Floor & Lobby

The 1st floor houses a chic cafe and the main concierge desk, which is perfect for storing your bags post-checkout. If you order food delivery (a must-try in China!), you can pick it up from the designated delivery lockers just outside.
To check in, you'll need to head up to the 11th floor.

If you look lost, the incredibly helpful ground floor staff will immediately guide you to the elevators.
All ground-floor elevators stop at the 11th floor anyway, so you can hop into whichever one arrives first.

The hotel blends modern luxury with subtle, elegant Chinese design elements.
Check-In Experience
11F, Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check-out: 12:00 PM

Walk past the dining venues to reach the reception desks.
The staff was abundant, though on my visit, a senior staff member was training a newcomer, which made things take a tiny bit longer. No worries, though—it was handled professionally!

They didn't require a separate security deposit. Don't forget to link your Hilton Honors membership to rack up those points!

While waiting for the elevator, you can study this beautifully illustrated map of Shanghai's top attractions.

To reach floors 20 through 43, you'll need to use the green elevators. It takes a couple of trips to get the hang of it, but during peak hours, there's usually an elevator attendant to point you in the right direction.

The corridors have a wonderful, subtle signature scent that immediately puts you in a relaxed mood.
Deluxe King Room with Oriental Pearl Tower View
Room 3516, Booked for 3 guests (with Extra Bed)
The moment you open the door, the jaw-dropping city view takes center stage! You get an unobstructed view of Lujiazui and the buzzing Nanjing Road pedestrian street.

I had to log on and get some work done during my stay, and let me tell you—working with a view like this makes you feel incredibly accomplished! Who needs a coffee shop when you have this?
(Though fair warning: the in-room Wi-Fi can be a bit sluggish for heavy tasks.)
Rooms on the opposite side of the building face the New World Department Store and People's Square, which is also a solid option depending on your preference.
The Room Setup & Comfort
Room 3516, High Floor, Non-Smoking

We booked for three guests, and the hotel had already set up the extra bed perfectly before we arrived.
The extra bed was decent, though it felt a bit springy and bouncy—almost like a soft pudding!

The interior design perfectly marries heritage charm with modern sensibilities. The king bed was incredibly plush and supportive, outfitted with both soft down pillows and memory foam pillows. The memory foam pillow was an absolute dream to sleep on.

They offer an extensive pillow menu, so don't hesitate to request your favorite style for a perfect night's sleep.

Complimentary coffee capsules and bottled water are provided generously. The mini-bar drinks and snacks are paid. I loved the traditional Chinese tea set provided in the room.

Check-in at the Conrad Shanghai is on the 11th floor, not the 1st floor. Check-in time starts at 3:00 PM, and check-out is until 12:00 PM.
Exit 14 is the closest to the hotel, but it only has stairs. Therefore, it is not recommended for travelers carrying heavy luggage.
During the summer season, the lights at the Bund are turned off at 10:00 PM. The Oriental Pearl Tower turns off its lights at 10:30 PM, so it is best to enjoy the night view before it gets too late.
Wearing a swimming cap is mandatory to enter the pool. The pool's shower facilities are quite old, with issues like doors that won't close or detached shower hoses, so it is highly recommended to return to your room to shower.
During rush hours, traffic right in front of the hotel is heavily congested, making it very inconvenient to get in or out of a taxi. To save time, it is recommended to get dropped off or picked up at the nearby New World Department Store instead of directly in front of the hotel.
