China Visa-Free Period Extended to 2026 Confirmed
Until when? And why is it extended just one year at a time?

According to the official announcement from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
the China visa-free period, which was previously set to expire at the end of 2025,
has been extended until December 31, 2026.

Citizens of some countries, including Korea,
can enter without a visa for tourism, business, visiting relatives, or transit purposes,
for stays of up to 30 days.

Thanks to this policy, travel and business visits to China
will be much more flexible well into 2026.

But why do they keep extending it just one year at a time?
China operates its visa-free policy not as a permanent fixture,
but as a "pilot program."

This allows them to evaluate the number of arrivals, economic impact through consumption,
and other economic and diplomatic effects on an annual basis.

It also gives them the flexibility to adjust policies based on diplomatic relations
or inter-country negotiation situations.

It's literally a test run,
so there's always a possibility of further extensions
or changes depending on the situation.
(Simply put, they're kind of gauging the situation
to suit their own preferences.)
