Ever heard of a chicken sandwich rush? Well, this particular day we were heading to San Antonio, so we made a convenient stop at a Chick-fil-A right along our route.
One interesting fact about Chick-fil-A is that it's closed on Sundays because its founder was a devout Christian. The fact that it's such a successful chain despite being closed one day a week just goes to show how incredibly delicious their food must be!
The classic chicken sandwich is legendary, but my cousin swears the Spicy Deluxe is the absolute best. We ordered a mix of things for our group of five, including the Spicy Deluxe, some chicken soup, and coffee to round out our meal.
Can you believe it? Only $45 for five people! In the US, that's an absolutely incredible deal!
Since it was a weekday morning, there wasn't much of a crowd, so we got our food in no time.
Our order arrived quickly: three burgers and a cup of chicken soup! I'd heard Americans often enjoy warm chicken soup when they're feeling under the weather, but I couldn't help but wonder if it would taste a bit like Korean Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup). What do you think?
Bingo! It totally did! The white bits inside were like small, hand-torn noodles or dumplings. It just proves that comforting chicken soup, whether it's Samgyetang or American-style, is a universally loved dish!
Chick-fil-A's signature side is undoubtedly their waffle fries! Everyone at our table raved about them. Even I, who typically doesn't seek out fries, found them perfectly crispy and delicious.
And here it is, the Spicy Deluxe! Loaded with fresh green veggies, a thick bun, and an even thicker chicken patty. Despite the name, it's not overly spicy at all, just a perfect kick!
Unlike some chicken burgers that can be a bit too soft, this one offered a satisfying bite without being dry – a truly perfect texture.
What truly sets Chick-fil-A apart is their iconic Chick-fil-A sauce! It's a unique blend, somewhere between Thousand Island and a creamy aioli, and it totally won me over. I even drizzled it generously on my burger!
The Heinz ketchup packet on the right is also pretty clever – you can tear the top to squeeze it out, or tear the bottom for a convenient dipping cup. Such a neat idea!
And of course, no American fast-food experience is complete without a delicious milkshake!
Just look at those waffle fries and the cross-section of that burger again... I miss Chick-fil-A already! It's a shame it's not widely available everywhere. Maybe a devout entrepreneur will bring it to more places one day?
After our delicious meal, we continued our drive towards #SanAntonio through some truly picturesque landscapes. #Texas truly is vast!
