Cheonjin Old Tofu House is incredibly easy to find, just a 3-minute walk from Cheonjin Beach. Simply cross one street from the beach and head into the alleyway, and you'll spot it right away.

While the restaurant's dedicated parking lot is a bit small, you can also use the parking spaces along the coastal road. If your accommodation is nearby, I highly recommend enjoying a leisurely stroll to the restaurant. We visited a little after 10:00 AM and were one of the first few guests, so it was nice and quiet! : )

The interior isn't overly spacious, giving off a cozy, rustic vibe that feels like visiting a grandparent's home in the countryside.

I personally loved the intimate and warm atmosphere. However, if you're traveling with a larger group, it might be a good idea to call ahead to check for availability.

A Personal Recommendation

Cheonjin Old Tofu House primarily specializes in tofu dishes. While they do offer other traditional Korean dishes like Dotyomuk Jjigae (sandfish stew) and Gajaemi Jorim (braised flatfish), these require a separate inquiry to order!

Their menu features both Sundubu (soft tofu stew) and Modubu (firm tofu) options, with the Spicy Sundubu and Tofu Hotpot being the most popular choices. Since we were famished, we opted for the hearty Tofu Hotpot!

Upon ordering, we were promptly served five delicious side dishes (banchan), including braised potatoes, seasoned bean sprouts, and seasoned zucchini. Each dish felt like a comforting homemade meal, and they were all incredibly tasty.

And then, our Tofu Hotpot from Cheonjin Old Tofu House finally arrived! The pot was brimming with thinly sliced firm tofu (modubu), oyster mushrooms, green onions, and other fresh vegetables. Initially, the broth appeared clear, but as it came to a rolling boil, it transformed into a vibrant red, rich with flavor.

What truly impressed me was how incredibly spicy and refreshing the broth was, even without an overwhelming amount of ingredients! It makes perfect sense why so many locals recommend it as a fantastic hangover cure. And the tofu within? It's so delicate and soft, it practically melts in your mouth with just a bite.

While the price point is a bit higher, it's completely understandable given that the tofu is handmade daily using locally sourced Korean soybeans. If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option without sacrificing flavor, I highly recommend trying their Spicy Sundubu!
