They offer everything from a rich Tonkotsu-based Mala Champon to Mentaiko Tsukemen and even a refreshing Cold Champon. The broths are incredibly flavorful, packed with a deep umami taste that's simply divine!
What's even better is that it's a relatively new establishment, so it's still somewhat of a hidden gem that many international travelers haven't discovered yet. Let me share my full review of this fantastic noodle haven.
1. Chanpon Shunka Tenjin

The restaurant boasts large windows, creating a bright and airy atmosphere that feels incredibly open and welcoming. No cramped spaces here!
They have tables for two to four people, as well as single-person counter seats along the wall, making it perfect for solo diners too.
2. Menu Highlights

As expected from a noodle specialist, Chanpon Shunka Tenjin offers a diverse menu, including Mentaiko Tsukemen, Mala Champon, and Cold Champon. You can also customize your meal with various side dishes.

Ordering is a breeze at the kiosk right by the entrance.
Pictures of the dishes are displayed, so you won't have any trouble choosing what you want to try!
3. Fukuoka's Best Noodle Dishes

Mala Champon ¥1,250
Let me start by introducing the Mala Champon I ordered.
The mala sauce is served on the side, so you can first savor the original flavor of the broth before adding the mala to your preferred spice level.

The broth is incredibly deep and savory; with just one spoonful, you'll immediately taste that rich umami flavor.
The noodles are perfectly al dente, complementing the charm of the Tonkotsu broth beautifully!

After trying the original, I added the mala sauce, and the rich, savory depth of the Tonkotsu broth was enhanced by mala's signature numbing and spicy kick, creating an entirely new and exciting flavor profile!

The perfect balance of umami and mala spice makes it approachable even for those new to mala flavors.

Mentaiko Tsukemen ¥1,250
You certainly can't skip the Tsukemen here either!
Tsukemen is a dish where the noodles and broth are served separately, and you dip the noodles directly into the rich broth.
But here, they take it up a notch by adding Fukuoka's famous mentaiko (spicy pollack roe) to the broth, offering a unique twist on traditional Tsukemen.

The broth is absolutely loaded with mentaiko... it's a dream come true for mentaiko lovers! 🥹⭐

Grab a generous portion of noodles, dip them into the broth, and you'll experience a delightful blend of salty, rich umami, and the unique savory flavor of mentaiko. It's incredibly addictive!
With so much mentaiko in the broth, every dip ensures you get a good amount of roe clinging to your noodles. If you're a mentaiko fan, this dish will definitely hit the spot.

Cold Tantanmen ¥1,080
Another person in my group ordered the Cold Tantanmen, and it was also a fantastic choice.
This peanut-based noodle dish offers a thick, refreshing, and savory experience, much like a chilled bibim-myeon (mixed noodles). The subtly thick texture was surprisingly appealing to many palates!

My friend absolutely loved it, especially on a warm day, and polished off the whole bowl!
If you're exploring Fukuoka and looking for a unique noodle dish, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

Chanpon Shunka Tenjin, a relatively new Champon restaurant in Fukuoka's Tenjin district, offers an incredible culinary experience.
The food is delicious, the menu is unique, and you get to enjoy Fukuoka's local specialties. If you're a noodle enthusiast, this place is an absolute must-visit!
Be sure to add it to your Tenjin travel itinerary for 2026!
