Changi Airport is quite accessible to the city, with a distance of approximately 12.4 miles (20 km).
However, depending on your mode of transport, the journey can take anywhere from 20 to 80 minutes.

There are mainly four ways to get from the airport to the city.
Please note that the free shuttle bus service that operated until recently ended on May 29, 2026. Shuttles to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal are still running!
If you're traveling solo or want to save money on transportation, the MRT or bus are great options. But if you prefer a comfortable and convenient ride, Grab, a taxi, or an airport private transfer service are your best bets.
Since we were arriving late at night and anticipated being tired, we decided to pre-book a private car service.

Using an airport private transfer service is straightforward.

Prices vary depending on your accommodation location and the number of people.
One of the great things about airport private transfer services is the ability to request additional services tailored to your needs, such as child car seats or extra space for large luggage!
In Singapore, it's mandatory for children to use a car seat, so if you're traveling with kids, make sure to request one in advance.
One important thing to note is to carefully check the passenger and luggage capacity for each vehicle type.
The same applies when taking Grab or a taxi; you need to consider the number and size of your bags when calling for a car.
Grab or taxi services typically use sedans, so if you have four or more people, you might need to call two cars or request a larger vehicle due to luggage space.

After clearing immigration, we headed to the pick-up location the driver had sent us via WhatsApp message. It was right outside the arrival hall, so it was easy to find.
In Singapore, taxis also pick up at designated spots, which can sometimes be a bit confusing, but the driver's clear instructions made it simple for us.

Since there were eight of us, we booked a large vehicle.
If we hadn't booked an airport private transfer, we would have had to call three or more Grabs or taxis, but this way, everything was handled in one convenient ride! :)
The driver even helped us load all our luggage.
After a long flight, we were exhausted, but we enjoyed a comfortable ride with refreshing air conditioning. It's a huge relief that the airport is so close to the city!

We also pre-booked the drop-off service for our return to the airport after our trip, allowing us to travel comfortably from our accommodation on our last day.
It was a redeye flight, making public transport tricky, and we were tired from a full day of activities. It was absolutely the right decision! While pick-up is great, the drop-off service truly shines.
The private car service is fantastic because it's available 24/7, so you don't have to worry about early morning or late-night transport schedules. It's especially useful when you have a lot of luggage.
