Central Inn
A great value stay near Chinatown station

Hello, this is Baeji (ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)
Today, I'm sharing my review of Central Inn, a great value hotel in downtown Sydney!
I was surprised when I experienced Sydney's prices firsthand – they're almost comparable to the US.
Among them, Central Inn was a ray of light, a truly great value accommodation lol.
The Sydney Central Inn was chosen after carefully considering location, price, and hygiene!
Read on for my recommendations and a price comparison
to wisely book your Sydney accommodation.

1. Sydney Accommodation
In Sydney, most tourist attractions, aside from Bondi Beach and tours,
are concentrated in the city center.

💡Sydney Hotel Location Tip
The popular Opera House, St Mary's Cathedral, and Botanic Garden
are all accessible by tram,
so it's essential to choose a place within walking distance of a tram station.
Recommended Stations (grey shaded area):
Wynyard, QVB, Town hall, Chinatown, Haymarket, Central

After sifting through several affordable accommodations in those areas,
I found an incredibly good value stay near Chinatown Station.
🌟Around ~$36 per person + 5-minute walk from the station + great hygiene reviews
Being a 5-minute walk from the station made it safe even when returning late at night,
and it was also within walking distance to Surry Hills, famous for its cafes.
The location was absolutely perfect.
I was nervous because I heard there were cockroaches everywhere,
but I didn't see a single bug during my stay.

2. Central Inn
Before going, I read all the reviews because I was worried about the bathrooms and bugs,
but even sensitive people used it well, and the location was unbeatable,
so I booked it after seeing reviews saying it was super convenient to get around.

I also considered The Ultimo Sydney, but
it was over ~$51 per person for a similar location,
so it was out for value for money..!

Prices for Oct 22 (Thu) - Oct 23 (Fri)
Platform | Price | Booking Link |
Agoda | Around ~$66 | |
Trip.com | Around ~$153 | |
HotelsCombined | Around ~$88 |
It's accommodation for 3, and it's cheaper than other places
at around ~$73, so it's very affordable.
However, Trip.com has fewer room types, making it more expensive.
You should compare Agoda and HotelsCombined, which have more room options.
Prices for good rooms tend to go up, so the current prices you see are likely the lowest – I recommend booking in advance as a backup ദ്ദി・ᴗ・)
3. Check-in/Common Areas

For Sydney Central Inn, you check in at
The Pod Sydney, located two blocks away.
* Luggage storage available before check-in time
It's self-service, so we just gathered them in one corner.
They even provided disposable shampoo and body wash,
and we could get more if needed.

The entrance opens with individual card keys,
so the security was solid, which was reassuring, and the common areas were spacious.
- The 1st floor has a lounge area.
- The 2nd floor has a simple cooking area and dining tables.

Honestly, the one thing I worried about until the very end
was going up the stairs since there's no elevator.
But I just braced myself and carried it up, and it wasn't as bad as I thought!
For such an affordable price, this much is a small trade-off, haha!
4. Family Room
Perfect for three people
Since there were three of us, we booked a family room with three beds.
If you're traveling as a trio, Central Inn is absolutely the place to go!
That's because everyone gets their own bed, and there are two bathrooms on each floor, which actually saves time when we all need to get ready, lol!

Next to the door, there's a space for luggage and a clothes rack,
so even with three suitcases open, it was absolutely not inconvenient to move around.
There's also a table next to it for simple meals,
so you can definitely enjoy a beer at the accommodation after your day's itinerary!ᐟ.ᐟ

It offers more personal space than other accommodations,
and the price is much more affordable, so all my friends were satisfied.
Even I, who loves budget-friendly travel, was super happy, lol!

With three people, getting a bed each is seriously awesome! ദ്ദി,,-`_´-)
5. Amenities
At Central Inn, room cleaning is available every 5 days,
and towel changes are every 3 days.
Since the towels provided are roughly for two days,
I also used disposable towels for the beach.

A huge advantage of Central Inn is that there are two bathrooms on each floor!
It was really great for three girls to share.
In a typical hotel room with just one bathroom, it takes over an hour for three people to shower,
but by sharing the bathrooms, we could finish in just 30 minutes!ᐟ.ᐟ

The washing machine is available for AUD $4
If you have swimwear or are staying long-term,
washing underwear and clothes in the machine is no problem at all!〰
Packing Tip |
Toothbrushing supplies Toiletries Hair treatment (optional) Disposable towels (optional) Slippers or sandals (highly recommended) |
There's no separate hair treatment provided,
so it's convenient to use with the provided shampoo/body wash.
And slippers are a must when moving between bathrooms and lounge areas!.ᐟ.ᐟ
🖤Overall Review
If you're planning a trip for two or three, I highly recommend
Sydney Central Inn!
Even the twin room, which is great for two people, has two beds,
so if you're looking for an accommodation with a great location at an affordable price,
this is truly a highly recommended place to stay.
There are no bugs, and it's close to nearby tourist attractions.
You should definitely try Central Inn, which is perfect for a Sydney accommodation recommendation! .ᐟ.ᐟ
