When traveling to Toronto, Canada,
one of the absolute must-visit spots that almost every traveler puts on their itinerary
is the famous majestic castle, Casa Loma. And of course, I had to experience it for myself!
There are quite a few ways to get to Casa Loma, including buses and the subway,
but taking Subway Line 1 and getting off at Dupont Station
turned out to be a super easy and short route.
It’s just about a 10-minute walk from Dupont Station, making it highly accessible,
which is probably why so many solo and independent travelers choose this route!
As you walk from Dupont Station, you’ll actually spot quite a few cool murals along the way,
so the walk never feels boring.
There are also clear signposts directing you to Toronto's Casa Loma,
so you definitely won't get lost.
To get there, you can either take a scenic route through a park
or walk around the outer perimeter of the neighborhood.
I highly recommend taking the stairs up through the park—
the park itself is incredibly beautiful and makes for a lovely stroll.
Once you approach the vicinity,
you'll see a grand, magnificent castle rising up before you.
It is absolutely stunning, and you'll instantly realize
why this place is a must-visit at least once in your life.
My very first impression of Casa Loma was how incredibly clean, well-maintained,
and beautiful everything looked.
You can really tell they put a ton of effort into preserving the facilities
and keeping the landscaping absolutely pristine.
It made me realize why travelers gladly dedicate half a day of their Canada trip to Casa Loma.
So many visitors were gathered here,
sitting by the lovely little pond and enjoying some ice cream.
Right in front of the pond, there was a cute, decorated motorcycle cart (or food truck?)
selling ice cream. It was such a hot day that I desperately wanted some,
but unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to grab one.

Since you can explore Casa Loma all the way from the ground floor up to the very top of the castle, it naturally takes a bit more time than you might expect! :D
Grab a Casa Loma map on the first floor—it’ll make navigating and finding your way around so much easier.
You can also access an audio guide via QR code, available in languages like English and Chinese
(no Korean option just yet!).
On the first floor, there’s a dining area that feels like a grand banquet hall.
It’s incredibly spacious, clearly built to host massive, lively feasts!
In one corner of the first floor, there's a unique organ missing its pipes, but it actually seemed playable!
It was fascinating to see so many beautiful antique items on display. I’ve never seen an organ quite like this one before.
Looking at Casa Loma from the outside, you might not expect it to be so spacious indoors.
But the first floor is surprisingly vast, filled with countless rooms. There’s even a stunning terrace on this level, so I just had to step outside and check it out.
Stepping onto the first-floor terrace, I was greeted by a gorgeous view of the massive lake that serves as the perfect backdrop to Casa Loma.
Standing there, looking out at the city against that stunning backdrop, it clicked instantly why they chose this high vantage point to build the castle.
What appeared to be the library was packed with countless books, and I was absolutely blown away by how massive it was for a study room.
Heading towards the end of the first floor, you'll find a lush, indoor conservatory-style garden filled with plants, crowned by a truly magnificent ceiling that instantly catches your eye.
There was definitely a lot more here back in the day, but since it's now open to visitors, they’ve likely cleared out most of it to make walking around easier.
As you head up to the second floor of Casa Loma, you’ll find a striking display of historic flags.
There were quite a few Canadian flags alongside British flags and variations of them—a nod to Canada's history as a former British colony!
Every single room in Casa Loma had its own unique design,
perfectly reflecting the personalities of the people who once lived there.
Listening to the audio guide while exploring really brought each space to life,
helping me understand the story behind every room.
It definitely made me realize just how lavishly the aristocracy lived—
and honestly, it made me wish I was rich too! Haha.
There was also a massive display of wartime artifacts connected to the family's history.
Seeing everything from old relics to actual combat uniforms really gave me
a sense of how powerful and influential this family once was.
As you make your way up to the very top of the castle,
you'll pass by various exhibits along the way.
The interior is incredibly spacious—there's even a designated staging area for soldiers,
which felt so unique and different from historical sites back in Korea.
Just a heads-up: the climb to the top of the tower can be a bit of a workout!
It was actually the most physically demanding part of my visit to Casa Loma.
You have to climb up a narrow metal spiral staircase
that only fits one person at a time, so you might have to wait if someone is coming down.
Plus, there's no air conditioning, so the heat and stuffiness
made it a bit of a challenge!
But once you reach the very top, the panoramic view of the entire estate is absolutely gorgeous!
The view from up there is stunningly beautiful.
I highly recommend making the climb at least once.
It takes a bit of effort, but the breathtaking scenery is completely worth it.
If you're planning a trip to Canada, I highly recommend visiting early in the morning
to explore comfortably. June to September is the peak season here,
so try to schedule your trip when the weather is at its absolute best!
Once October hits, the days get much shorter and the weather
can get quite unpredictable. Keep this in mind when planning your itinerary,
and make sure you secure a spot to visit Casa Loma!

You can take Subway Line 1 and get off at Dupont Station. It is about a 10-minute walk from the station, and we recommend the route that goes up the stairs through the park.
The admission fee is 47 CAD for adults, 31.67 CAD for children, and 42 CAD for youth and seniors. If you have a Toronto CityPASS, you can enter for free.
Currently, the audio guide only supports English and Chinese, and Korean is not available. You can pick up a map on the first floor and scan the QR code to use it.
The path to the top of the castle consists of narrow iron stairs that only one person can pass through at a time. It can be a bit hot and exhausting as there is no air conditioning, but you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view from the top.
It takes about half a day as you have to explore the spacious area from the first floor all the way to the top of the castle. We recommend visiting in the morning for a leisurely tour.
