My Honest Review of Gungnamji, Home of the Buyeo Lotus Festival

My friend and I actually visited the day before the official Buyeo Lotus Festival kicked off. We hadn't realized it was festival season when we planned our trip, but Gungnamji was already on our itinerary. Seeing the "24th Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival" banner at the entrance instantly filled us with excitement!
There was even a live performance by a guest singer nearby, adding to the festive atmosphere.
From the Entrance to the Lotus Fields

As soon as we stepped into Gungnamji, we were greeted by an expansive sea of vibrant green lotus leaves.

The clear blue sky, the lush green leaves, and the occasional pop of pink from the blooming lotus flowers created an absolutely stunning panorama. We were captivated from the moment we entered, even before exploring the main pond area.

There's even a charming wooden bridge nestled among the lotus leaves, perfect for snapping some memorable photos. We definitely took advantage and got some fantastic shots!

We also stumbled upon a lovely pond featuring these adorable couple statues.
Photo Zones & Playful Characters

We had a blast taking photos with these character mannequins dressed in traditional Baekje attire. Some were even striking funny poses, so of course, we joined in for some playful snapshots!

Near the exit, we also spotted this magnificent dragon sculpture – a truly impressive sight!
Artistic Sculptures & The Grand Artificial Pond

Gungnamji features a variety of sculptures and distinct pond areas. Each section offers a unique ambiance, making the exploration continuously engaging.

At the heart of Gungnamji, a picturesque wooden bridge gracefully spans the artificial pond, leading to a beautiful traditional pavilion. This spot is undeniably one of Gungnamji's most beloved photo opportunities.

As you stroll across the bridge, you can admire the lotus flowers up close, making for an even more immersive experience. The pavilion itself offered a wonderfully cool retreat from the summer heat. Even though it was a weekday, being the day before the festival, many people were already relaxing there, especially local seniors enjoying the shade.
Traditional Swing Fun!

While wandering through the lotus-filled landscapes of Gungnamji, we discovered a traditional Korean swing. Swaying gently in the refreshing breeze and capturing photos there, it truly felt like we had traveled back in time to the Baekje era!
Despite the warm summer weather, the combination of the clear sky, the stunning pond, the elegant pavilion, and the artistic sculptures made for an incredibly rewarding visit. I left feeling completely satisfied.
If I ever find myself in Buyeo again, Gungnamji will definitely be on my must-revisit list.
Whether you're planning to visit during the Buyeo Lotus Festival or simply exploring Buyeo at any other time, I highly recommend adding Gungnamji to your travel itinerary. I hope my post helps you plan an unforgettable trip to Buyeo!
Until next time, happy travels!
