Searching for an authentic breakfast near Busan Port? Discover Samcheonpo Sikdang in Chungmu-dong for a delicious charcoal bulgogi and grilled fish meal, a true local's secret.

Before catching an early ferry or embarking on a day of exploration from Busan Port, a hearty breakfast is an absolute must. That's exactly how we discovered Samcheonpo Sikdang, a hidden gem tucked away in the Chungmu-dong Haean Market.
We were looking for a place that opened early near our accommodation, and this spot, famous for its charcoal-grilled bulgogi (yeon-tan-bul-baek), came highly recommended by locals. If you're seeking a substantial morning meal near Busan Port or curious about authentic local eateries, Samcheonpo Sikdang is definitely worth checking out!

While I've explored Nampo-dong many times, this was my first venture into Chungmu-dong Haean Market. It's quite close to the famous Jagalchi Fish Market, but the atmosphere here is distinctly different.
This market feels less like a tourist destination and more like a place where true locals go about their daily lives. Even early in the morning, many shops were already bustling with activity.
The Restaurant's Exterior & Interior

Samcheonpo Sikdang immediately gives off that authentic, old-school local restaurant vibe from its exterior. Tucked inside the market, it was already drawing in plenty of market vendors and early risers.

Upon entering, you're greeted by an open kitchen on the left, where the friendly 'ajummas' (aunties) are busy cooking. I often have a preconception that older establishments might be a bit messy, but Samcheonpo Sikdang was surprisingly clean, making a great first impression.

The interior is small, with about three round tables. Despite its size, customers were constantly flowing in and out. There was even an additional table outside. If you're traveling solo, good news – it looked perfectly suitable for dining alone!
The Menu

The menu is wonderfully simple, offering just two main dishes.
We ordered the charcoal bulgogi, and the price was incredibly reasonable, making it a fantastic choice for an affordable and satisfying breakfast. These days, it's hard to find such a complete meal for around ~$7 anywhere in Korea, so we knew it was a great value if the taste delivered.
Our Taste Review

As soon as we ordered, a full spread arrived: charcoal-grilled bulgogi, grilled fish, fresh ssam (lettuce wraps), a comforting doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), and refreshing cold cucumber soup. Though I wasn't particularly hungry so early in the morning, the sight of this feast immediately whetted my appetite! 🐷

The bulgogi portion was quite generous. An additional serving of bulgogi costs ~$7, but the amount provided with the basic set was more than enough, even for two hungry people. We actually had some left over! If you're a big eater, you might consider the extra, but for most, the initial serving is plentiful.
The charcoal-grilled bulgogi had that distinct smoky aroma that makes it perfect with rice. Wrapped in fresh lettuce with a bit of garlic and ssamjang, it was so good I kept going back for more, even at breakfast!

The grilled fish included flounder and yellow croaker. I'm not a huge fish person, so my boyfriend happily devoured both, but if you love fresh grilled fish, you'll be even more delighted!

They also serve a heaping bowl of rice, ensuring you're fully fueled for the day. I usually don't eat much for breakfast, but every side dish was so tasty that I found myself finishing everything, leaving feeling completely satisfied.

To top it all off, after your meal, they bring out a soothing cup of숭늉 (scorched rice tea). For around ~$7, you get bulgogi, grilled fish, stew, various side dishes, and scorched rice tea – it's easy to see why the local market vendors flock here first thing in the morning!

While bulgogi restaurants are famous near Busan Station and Choryang Station, Samcheonpo Sikdang, which we visited early in the morning, felt like a true local haunt, almost exclusively frequented by Busan residents. If you're looking for an authentic, hearty breakfast before heading out from Busan Port, or simply want to experience a genuine local eatery serving delicious bulgogi set meals, make sure to add Chungmu-dong's Samcheonpo Sikdang to your itinerary!
Samcheonpo Restaurant operates daily from 6 AM to 3 PM. It's a great time to have an early breakfast before catching the ferry to Tsushima Island.
Samcheonpo Restaurant sells only two menu items, including the Yeontan Bulgogi. The Yeontan Bulgogi Han-sang includes grilled bulgogi, grilled fish (flounder, croaker), ssam (wrap vegetables), doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew), oyi-naengguk (cold cucumber soup), and a generous bowl of rice. Sungnyung (scorched rice tea) is also provided after the meal.
Samcheonpo Restaurant is located inside Chungmu-dong Haean Market in Busan. It is a local, long-standing restaurant primarily visited by market vendors and local residents rather than tourists.
