I'd love to share some information about the beautiful walking trail, Galmaetgil, which I stumbled upon during my family trip to Busan last winter.

If you look from the main entrance of The Westin Chosun Busan, you'll immediately see the entrance to Dongbaek Park.
It's a great place for a leisurely stroll, thanks to its circular walking path. Many people were already out for their morning walks.
However, what I'd like to tell you about today isn't the circular walking path of Dongbaekseom Park, but rather the Galmaetgil trail that starts from Haeundae Beach, just outside the rear gate of The Westin Chosun Busan.
What made this place truly wonderful is that you can soak in the beauty of Busan, with stunning views of Haeundae Beach, Marine City, and the vast ocean.

Let's embark on this path together, starting from the rear gate, passing through Nurimaru APEC House, and circling back towards the main entrance of The Westin Chosun, all with photos to guide us!
The deck path is really well maintained.
After walking a bit, we came across an information board explaining the scenery currently visible.
There's an explanation about Haeundae Beach and the Hwangok Princess Mermaid Statue.
They say on clear days, you can even see Tsushima Island from here!
We continue walking along the deck path built right along the coastline.
There are many great spots for taking photos along the way.
In Busan, you'll discover the Galmaetgil, a wonderful network of paths perfect for walking!
The Galmaetgil
Since 2009, Busan City has been actively developing a network of delightful walking paths, also known as Greenways.
While most of these utilize existing promenades and hiking trails,
some sections feature newly installed decks or completely new paths.
Designed to suit Busan's diverse topography, they are categorized into coastal paths, forest paths, riverside paths, and urban paths (a total of 9 courses).
You can truly savor the unique appeal of Busan, a city known for its 'four natural treasures'—mountains, sea, rivers, and hot springs.
Currently, there are 9 courses, comprising 23 sections, totaling 278.8 km.
The area I've just introduced to you is part of Galmaetgil Course 2-1.
I also got to see beautiful camellia flowers and charming lighthouses.
And there, in the distance, you can spot the Nurimaru APEC House.
Haeundae Beach seemed to drift further and further away.
It was a truly beautiful morning by the sea.

The Nurimaru APEC House is an international conference hall located on Dongbaekseom Island.
It was built for the 2005 Busan APEC Summit.
It's definitely worth a visit with kids, even just once, to explore and enjoy.
The view of the Busan sea from inside was also incredibly beautiful.
You can also get a sense of your current location by looking at the signposts dotted along the Galmaetgil.
A really large bird had built a nest high up in a tree.
We started from the back gate, completed a full loop, and returned to the main entrance.

The Galmaetgil was a path I discovered by chance during my trip to Busan.
It was a course where you could walk around Haeundae Beach, Dongbaekseom Island, and Nurimaru APEC House.
The scenery was magnificent, and walking while gazing at the sea felt incredibly refreshing.
It's a wonderful walking path I'd recommend not just to Busan residents, but to all travelers too.
